Overall pretty good

Jul 7th, 2020

To be honest, this hotel was very nice. The hot tub was closed down (not sure why but I’m guessing it’s due to the health issues) but the pool and 24/7 gym made up for it. They had some breakfast food (fee) and free coffee until 10am but otherwise we had food delivered, or ate at one of the many lovely cafes nearby. We came here with intentions to go to the beach way more than we actually did. The hotel pool area was extremely nice. Rooms are awesome. Clean and contemporary. We brought the baby (6lb pomchi) and it was at no extra cost. We checked in later than expected and the man at the front desk could have been nicer. He wasn’t rude, just quick with me. The other front desk staff certainly made up for it. They were all so kind and helpful! The WXYZ bar is really nice also. We got drinks from there a few nights and loved it. There is a courtyard where you can enjoy coffee/food or just relax which was convenient. Parking seemed to be limited to valet which is a daily fee. They mentioned another method of temp parking that seemed like a hassle so we paid to park daily, which is always annoying. It’s like paying for a carry on bag when you board an aircraft. The overall experience was nice and I would absolutely stay here again. We spent a lot of time at the actual hotel being lazy and had a wonderful time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Place Amazing Hotel Staff

Jun 3rd, 2020

I had a great time at my stay at aloft. Its close to alot of fun bars and good eats, and the city is beautiful. The hotel is great with the rooftop pool but my best experience came during the hotel breakfast. Lisa was very kind and made me the best bacon egg and cheese I ever had. For me these stays are about the people and Lisa made a lasting impression on me- I will definitely be back at aloft Sarasota! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice ideas, poor execution

Mar 8th, 2020

Apparently the Aloft chain is Marriott's attempt at being hip & trendy. Being neither of those things, we thought this property was pretty awful & won't stay at another Aloft property. While the lobby is pretty, the butterfly wings on the wall for a photo op were held on with clear tape. Since half of it was hanging off the wall I re-stuck the tape for my lobby picture. The property doesn't have any self-parking, just $17 a day valet. While having the elevator work off of the room keys is a nice security idea, it rarely worked right. We heard other travelers also complaining they couldn't get to their room as the key swipe didn't work. The room itself was like a cave. Everything echoed. We plainly heard other toilets from the nearby rooms. We also heard fellow guests complaining about how loud the rooms were. There was no luggage rack, so if you put your bag on the bench there's no place to sit other than the bed & one desk chair. We were in a room with an accessible shower. If you check the picture, notice the shower curtain is about 4 or 5 inches above the ground, so taking a shower leaves a huge puddle on the tile. Apparently they expected this, so they did leave a drain, but I didn't really want to spend my time using my few thin towels to push water into the drain. While the pool & indoor courtyard seemed nice, we were so disappointed in the room we got out of this place first thing the next morning. We like to take long weekends in Sarasota. You can find a better hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decorated on a Budget

Mar 5th, 2020

Very trendy place, but inexpensively executed, and it showed. Wouldn't stay again. Pro's: Room was very clean. Location was excellent, walking distant to marinas, restaurants, shopping. Staff was very kind; valets, receptionists and cleaners. Con's: Decor in rooms and lobby was very low quality, especially for a Marriott establishment. I agree completely with another review, "Reminiscent of my college days, our room felt like a dorm; The furnishings, desk with lamp, cubbies, paper cups, minimal toiletries .... The food counter in the lobby was similar to the cafeteria in my dorm." Carpet in hallway was loose with many ripples. Barn style door to the shower area got stuck multiple times for both my husband and myself. Pillows and linens not comfortable. Very dark room...minimal lighting. Mini fridge was placed right on the floor under the bathroom sink and shared the only outlet for the vanity. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Staff is excellent but rooms just ok

Mar 2nd, 2020

We paid about $1,100. for three nights during high season. I've stayed here twice. Staff is very nice and helpful. I would give them 5 stars. During our trip, we visited family who was staying at Embassy Suites, and their room was much nicer for the price. The room quality could be much better: they're too small and the lighting isn't great: the bathroom area is dark and the fluorescent they chose for the bathroom is jarring. Location is great and they are pet friendly. Pool is also very nice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
