“A true Castle experience”

Jul 19th, 2019

What a true Castle experience. The long driveway to the Castle was amazing. Beautiful gardens with an abundance of colour. We were a party of three greeted with a warm welcome from Jackie on reception. Then a lovely young man Luke showed us to our beautiful rooms. The rooms were large and tastefully decorated with everything you would need including dressing gowns, tea/coffee/biscuits/hot chocolate/mineral water. We all enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the drawing room followed by amazing delicious food in the dining room. I have to give a huge mention to some of the attentive staff. Phil, Ovi & Frankie who completely spoiled us throughout our stay. Well done Amberley Castle we will return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Afternoon tea

Jul 18th, 2019

We have to Amberley Castle twice now,on my birthday and with some friends I was a bit reluctant to go at first as I am very much working class and felt I would be out of my comfort zone. I enjoyed the experience so much the first time we went again with some dear friends The afternoon tea is a real treat, and although it doesn't look a lot it's certainly filling and most importantly well presented and a nice mix of sweet and savoury. The tea, coffee and other beverages are available,is presented in a sample box in which you are able to removed the pit and lid to see and smell the different types. The staff are as you would expect attentive, knowledgeable and polite. If you want a really nice treat occasionally a visit for afternoon tea is highly recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exquisite Afternoon Tea

Jul 16th, 2019

A gift from an inspired family member, proved to be a truly exceptional culinary experience. Afternoon tea (with Champagne) was a delight, the setting within the castle, was intimate but spacious surrounded by simple, elegant furnishings. The ambiance was calm and dignified. The staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. The selection of aromatic teas procured from The Newby tea emporium were unusual and exotic. Guests are even provided with a taste card enabling the diner to smell the various teas available to make their desired selection. The selection of sandwiches, pastries, scones and cakes were elegantly presented and the quality and tastes were exquisite. We were not rushed at all and given ample time to discover the beauty and history of Amberley Castle and its beautiful gardens. I would highly recommend indulging in this experience. Our next visit will involve experiencing dinner at Amberley Castle if the sublime quality of our afternoon tea experience is a benchmark. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely setting

Jul 14th, 2019

The obvious selling point of this hotel is the lovely setting and the imposing gateway. The grounds are beautiful with flowers, trees, a pond and white peacocks wandering about. We were there on a sunny summer's day and enjoyed the surroundings. We had afternoon tea in the restaurant and really enjoyed it. As well as the usual finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam and cakes there were also hot savouries which were delicious. Another nice touch was the fact that we were given samples of the various tea leaves to smell and read about before we made our choice. Refills of tea and sandwiches were available and they were very happy to box up any goodies that we couldn't finish. Service was friendly and efficient. We stayed in a ground floor room near reception. It was large and comfortable as was the bed. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room (with fresh milk) and complimentary water. The bathroom was also a good size with a lovely big bath and walk-in shower. There was no door though so wouldn't suit anyone who wanted privacy at a given moment. Wifi was free but I was unable to use it as the connection was unsecured (no password) and my phone wouldn't connect. There was no safe. Unfortunately there was a problem with wood lice in this room which was rather unpleasant. We reported it on check-out. Breakfast was very nice. There was a cold buffet plus hot food which was cooked to order. Service here could have been better - it took them a long time to take our order for drinks and cooked food (although they were apologetic when they realised they had overlooked us). We were offered a complimentary newspaper and a wake-up call. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Delicious Afternoon Tea

Jul 13th, 2019

What a beautiful setting for Afternoon Tea, with such delicious food (amazing scones and sausage rolls). Our waiter Julian was very attentive and after tea a walk around the gorgeous gardens rounded our afternoon off perfectly. Such a glorious day and the perfect treat, thank you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
