the best

my friends and I loved the Ames Boston. The rooms were perfect and clean. The bathroom was exceptionally nice, which is my main concern whenever i’m at a hotel. My friend said they also had a nice breakfast downstairs. The valet parking was also great because i would have had no idea where to park. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It was great!

Jun 21st, 2019

We stayed here in April and we needed a little help obtaining some things as a gift for my sick mother. The concierge was immensely helpful and we were able to have a wonderful visit with my mom. We also appreciated the cool modern design vibe of the hotel. And the central location is great -- right be the Gov Center T stop. The only thing I didn't love was that that street was a little isolate at night and there were a few sketchy people wandering around that block past 7 or 8pm. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location and food hotel

Perfect location for business in Boston or Cambridge. Easy walks to lots of sights and restaurants too. Room was good. Didn’t particularly like the shower setup. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good but somewhat limited in selection. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Absolute diasater, when it comes to guest handling

Jun 17th, 2019

Had to pay for two nights, that I did not use, just because the hotel did not want to be a bit flexible. All this when they were ripping me off with a tariff that far exceeded the rates on which the hotel was available on internet. An absolutely great example has been set by the manager of this hotel on my last day of stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent location, ok room

Jun 15th, 2019

The exterior of this building is beautiful, and the room we had faced the Old State House which was nice. They appeared to have updated this hotel 5-10 years ago, as the room had a transitional feel to it with hardwood and marble tile floors. But it clearly needed refreshing. The bed frame was fabric, and was worn down to the color underneath. The nightstand had chips in it, and so did the tub. The shower and tub were generally nice, the shower had excellent water pressure which seems to be a rarity with hotels these days. (We ladies just want to wash our hair properly!) It clearly needed a deep clean to get rid of calcium/lime deposits because the spray was crooked and we got the bathroom floor wet every use because of it. There didn’t seem to be a working bathroom fan, and because this was an old building the windows couldn’t be opened. So we steamed up the whole room every time someone showered. The room was once beautiful I’m sure, with a high ceiling, hardwood, and floor to ceiling curtains, but felt like it hadn’t been maintained well for a while. We expected some age, with it being an old building, so street noise was expected. But not fixing things like chips in the tub and worn out bed frames seems a bit neglectful. We loved the location of this hotel being right on the freedom trail and so close to little Italy as well as the park. The subway was also just a block away, which was really convenient. The staff was polite and helpful when we asked how to get somewhere, as well as opening the doors for us and greeting us upon entry and exit. I would recommend someone stay here based on location, and the price was decent. But I would also say not to expect a pristine hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
