Nice room, close to city centre, fast internet (with some hiccups).

Jan 13th, 2020

This hotel is very close to all the hotspots in Amsterdam. When your room is on the 'Stadhouderskade-side' you will have a nice view on the city. We had a balcony overviewing the whole city; the night-view was very pretty! Please note that there will be some street noise from the trams/traffic. Although the internet is 'blazing-fast' (200 Mbits up/down) a large download or extensive work-session does interfere with watching TV. Maybe this can be changed as it seems like a configuration issue that the TV and Wifi is sharing the same connection. The M-club lounge is pretty ok; the food selection is decent, the drink selection is limited to wine/beer/softdrinks and coffee/tea. All together it was a nice experience and we enjoyed our stay. Excellent location

Jan 10th, 2020

The location is excellent. Bus from airport stops in front of the hotel. Canal cruise station is also in front of the hotel. Very close to tram stations which lead us to everywhere in Amsterdam. Service is good. We used the M club lounge - sufficient for both breakfast and dinner. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very disappointed with this Marriott.

Jan 10th, 2020

Having stayed in hundreds of hotels during my life this property was one of the worst. Upond check-in we found the room windows where very, very filthy and one was unable to view through them. The next morning the hot water kettle did not work. No coffee first thing in the morning. The bathroom fan made way to much noise and could not be turned off.Kept us awake. All of the above was fixed the second day but I cannot believe that all of this escapes their quality control program. Is this Marriott that indifference to their guests.? We did receive an offer for a free meal which we accepted. However, during hotel stays I am not interested in free meals. I expect a clean and working room . Nothing less and nothing more. Where is the hospitality??

Jan 8th, 2020

Requested to change our room to a 2 bed room. I’m staying with a buddy and I thought, understandably they would make accommodations. We were told there were no 2 bed rooms available. Considering I pulled up open two bedroom rooms on my phone and also we were there during the slowest season I highly doubt this was true. Also during our whole 5 day stay there were no two beds available? When asked to bring a cot into the room the manager said NO. The manager seemed to have something personal against us because I didn’t see anyone treated like we were. Just because we wear hoodies and caps doesn’t make us worth any less than the guy with a suit behind us. They put a lot of effort in renovating the lobby area (only reason they don’t get 1 star) but it seems as though hospitality completely went out the window. I doubt I’ll be coming back to this location, which is a shame as we’ve always came back to this exact hotel when visiting Amsterdam. Last time was in 2015 and it was a wonderful experience. I’m not sure what happened but the staff is nowhere near as accommodating as previous visits. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

NYE

Jan 8th, 2020

My friend and I stayed here for NYE. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Marriott. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady who was extremely welcoming and happy. Checkin was very smooth and easy and within minutes we were in our room. The room was pretty modern and looked as though it had perhaps been refurbed within the last few years. The hotel provided earplugs and a key ring which I assume was due to the noise that came with new year - which was a nice touch. The room had everything we needed including a sofa and table which was nice to have a few drinks at before we went out. Checkout was 12 and breakfast ran until 12 which was good for New Year’s Day. We have previously stayed at the a renaissance in Amsterdam for new year and had an appalling experience and I swore I wouldn’t stay at a Marriott chain again. I have to say after staying here I will definitely go back to using Marriott again. This hotel is in a different area of the city to where I usually stay, but it was nice to be able to walk and explore different parts of Amsterdam. Great hotel for a city break. We didn’t eat at the hotel so cannot comment. One of the things that i appreciate most in a hotel is customer service and I have to say I have nothing but praise for the staff that we had contact with. Thank you for a lovely stay and new year.
