Andaz Mayakoba

Jul 22nd, 2019

Friendly and helpful staff. Food was excellent and drink selection was very good. Entire property is well kept and beautiful. Travel from Cancun airport was easy... less than 45 minute commute. Very good overall experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful rooms, great food, well managed hotel

Jul 21st, 2019

We ended up falling in love w Andaz Mayakoba although we usually prefer smaller boutique properties. The rooms are beautiful-we booked a suite which perfectly accommodated our family of 4. We loved the plunge pool, the terrace and the spacious living room. We also really appreciated the small touches-the free minibar and snacks, the affordable laundry service and other touches of hospitality. The food was overall excellent. We especially liked Sotovento - beautiful restaurant on the beach w freshly grilled seafood and steaks. Breakfast was also great. Our kids enjoyed the kids club and the activities-the staff was wonderful. Make sure to take the boat tour. Our visit to the Pueblo was fun, even if it felt a bit staged. The kids loved the free arcade games and we had drinks and shopping. They make a real effort to control the seaweed issues that plague the whole Yacatan coast. It's much better in Mayakoba than further south (Tulum being the worst). Overall, this hotel made me open to staying at other Andaz locations. We look forward to coming back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Week! Beautiful Resort

Jul 21st, 2019

Great low-key but cool vibe at Andaz. I would absolutely go back. Was there the second week of July 2019. Going to list here all the things I wanted to know before I traveled to the resort. (Note: we were there in the low season with only around 25% occupancy) 1. The seaweed situation: It changed day-to-day. It went from almost none to a massive patch where you could not swim. The resort is ON TOP OF THIS. They have crews on tractors and are constantly raking it. I thought this would be obtrusive but it wasn't. The photos I am posting show the variation. I still would go back and was not bothered by it because it changed each day. 2. The distance from the lobby and rooms to the beach. No biggie. There was someone to give us a ride via golf cart every time we walked out of our room. We never had to use the Whatsapp to schedule a ride. 3. Bikes are everywhere and we used them to get to the breakfast buffet and go from one side of the resort to the other. It turned out to be a fun thing we did each day. It was a 5 min. bike ride to get to one side of resort to the other. I loved how sprawling the resort felt. Nature is first here. I also appreciated the electric boats they use to give tours to the lagoons and waterways. We never took a boat to visit other resorts at Mayakoba but it is an option if you don't want to be driven via golf cart or private car. 4. Eating: The BEST meal we had was off-site at Primo in Playa Del Carmen. We went twice. It was outstanding (I live in San Francisco. My standards are high). I was shocked none of the concierges knew of this amazing place but I made sure to tell them. Cool, hip, local farm food, curated cocktail menu...GO THERE. In second place was Casa Amate which was a really wonderful meal. Sotavento is an incredible location right on the beach. We ate there twice. It was really good but slightly hit or miss as far as food quality and service. They wonderfully addressed the two small issues I had with my dinner though. 5. They put in the extras. There is purified water everywhere. I filled up my water bottle constantly. The room bar was complimentary (except liquor). There is no charge to paddleboard, kayak, snorkel, etc. 6. There IS NOT PLASTIC OR PAPER HERE! I love love loved this. No paper in bathrooms, no plastic cups/utensils...It was so nice to see a resort to take a stand on this. 7. Worth the price difference to upgrade to Oceanfront rooms. Oceanview is right in front of the pool and you will not get privacy. Our room was perfect and the mattress and pillows were high quality. We slept great and heard no sounds from the occupants below us. 8. We used the private car service from the airport to the resort but we would just take a taxi next time. It isn't like Cabo where the airport ride situation is a mess. 9. The service is great. Everyone is kind, happy and willing to help you out. 10. The Spa! I did not want to get a spa service but did want to tour the facilities and use the sauna/steam. It was a $35 charge to do this and I could have stayed all day if I wanted. The sauna was really lovely with a window looking into a garden and LED color therapy on the ceiling. 11. Overall Vibe: Modern, environmental, unique. I got the feeling they make a big effort to stay true to the local culture. We biked over to The Fairmont and it was so Meh. It was just like any other Fairmont; they all look the same just in a different city/place. Andaz felt more destination and authentic. 12. We went for a couples vacation (left 4 teenagers at home). There was a perfect mix of families, couples and not too many little kids. 13. We at the breakfast buffet each morning and it was fine. Overpriced ($30) but they had lots of gluten-free options for me and every single time we sat down at a restaurant at the Andaz resort they asked about food allergies. Very appreciated!! Thank you Andaz Mayakoba! Really wonderful and restful vacation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great resort.

Jul 18th, 2019

We loved the Andaz. We stayed beachfront and the room was so clean and large. We stayed at the Fairmont in Mayakoba a few years earlier and loved that as well. The Andaz is a bit newer and we actually preferred it because of that. Also we think it was a better value for the money. The only thing we would suggest improving was the breakfast. It was very average. We suggest going next door to the Rosewood for breakfast. You can take a golf cart over, it's really easy. And the service was fantastic, Everyone went out of our way to make us happy. A little tip. If coming straight from Cancun airport, just go outside and grab a taxi. It's much more affordable than arranging transportation in advance (and easy). We can't wait to go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing property with the staff to match.

Jul 15th, 2019

Every bit the 5 star experience. We felt like VIPs even though we aren't. My fiance experienced a severe allergic episode on our last day and the staff along with management not only salvaged our trip but enhanced our experience. Cannot say enough about this place. Unparalleled scenery, gourmet food and 5 star staff for sure. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
