Friendly and beautiful hotel
Sep 15th, 2020
I honestly can not believe the recent negative reviews , that was not what experienced at all. The room was spacious with large terrace and cleaned everyday .Under the circumstances the restaurant staff were welcoming ,polite and did a good job serving everyone. The food was varied and tasty, can't comment about the meat. The al a carte was delicious . We had such good fun and was well looked after. There are two bars to the right of the hotel and a beautiful walk into hersonissos, left of the hotel with sandy coves and a hidden gem , the Gordona taverna . The staff and animation team at the Annabelle are welcoming, friendly and fun. Special mention and thanks for a wonderful holiday to the fabulous Irini at the swim up bar , Antonias the manager, Stavros , George, Nico and Ghiana at the beach bar. Irini and Efi in the al a carte and Besa the exercise queen. I agree with one review that branded soft drinks should be offered and as soon as the pandemic is over, get rid of the plastic . Definately will be visiting again , hopefully soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I never leave reviews, but on this occasion I just have to let other people know NOT to book this hotel, it is AWFUL. Jet2 advertise this on their website as 'luxe' - it is nothing more than a 1 star hotel & i find Jet2's slogan 'package holidays you can trust' - absolutely false, I would never trust them again & encourage other people not to either! The food is disgusting, bland, no flavour, i found a hair in my eggs the first morning - disgusting! The 'restaurant' is the same as a school canteen if not worse- tables arent cleared so you are limited as to where you can sit down! Ask for a beer/soft drink & you'll get a glass not much bigger than a shot glass, the staff are rude & anything you ask them it's like you're massively inconveniencing their day! The pool is dirty, the whole place is swarming with oversized people who are quite clearly leaving all the good/excellent reviews on here for one reason & one reason only, if the buffet was open 24/7 we probably wouldnt have seen anyone the whole trip to be honest! If you have a room at the back end of the hotel, don't expect any sleep until at least 12pm after the annoying entertainment woman has stopped screaming into the microphone, stopping & starting the rave music every 10 seconds so she could scream even louder - so unbelievably annoying! The same thing happens throughout the day when you're trying to relax on the sunloungers on the beach, you can't escape the noisy entertainer & the music blasting out! Nobody disinfects the sunloungers & not much hand sanitiser around either. The walls in the rooms, if you can call it a room, it's more like a dungeon, are paper thin, we could hear the people above us going to the toilet, speaking to eachother, showering, walking around, just awful, the only time we spent in the room was to try & sleep, we didnt feel comfortable or relaxed here at all & hardly slept the whole trip! A couple were arguing on & off around the pool & staff didnt care they were ruining everyones trip, they just ignored them & carried on serving drinks. Fanta isnt fanta & coke isnt coke, it's the cheap 'panda pop' fizzy drinks from the 90's, they just taste awful. I also notice the false advertisement of 'free wifi' this is only available in the reception area & if you want it anywhere else you have to pay extra, a member of staff told me this when i asked her, she was very dismissive - the best thing to do is just not to speak with the staff unless absolutely critical as they are literally so rude & unwelcoming! People don't say morning or even acknowledge you exist when you walk around. We have booked the next available flights home as the thought of staying here for any longer than we need to makes me feel ill. Oh, and you wouldnt think there was such a thing as a global pandemic here, german people spitting in the pool & someone even spat on the floor as i was sat eating outside near the beach bar - absolutely VILE. I can't honestly stress enough to people considering this place to avoid it at all costs - AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!! Oh, and i hope you like cancer sticks if you come here aswell, instead of breathing in the fresh sea air or the fresh air around the pool, you just breathe in smoke, there is no designated smoking area & people here dont think twice about moving away & smoking somewhere else, my hair stank of smoke all the time & the reception area stinks of stale smoke too. I asked one of the staff in the canteen to fill my water bottle with water & a glass of orange juice, she snapped at me in front of other guests saying 'water only!' - i said yes, water in my bottle & a seperate glass of orange juice, she snatched the bottle & filled it with water reluctantly. When we got off the flight, our names werent on the transfer list, so we couldnt get on the coach, a lady from Jet2 came over after much discussion & we finally were allowed on, the same thing happened on the way home, we were told to wait in reception between 09.25 & 09.55 for the bus, jet2 bus arrives and the driver wouldnt let us on because our names werent on the list, he drove off without us leaving us stood outside the hotel! We tried ringing Jet2, we couldnt get through, then a Jet2 staff member turned up & after a phone call or two managed to put us in a taxi! So much faffing around because staff they employ are clearly incapable of seeing bookings through from start to finish, covering the whole trip. Never ever will we trust Jet2 again & never ever will we be staying at this hotel again, do not book, save your money & go somewhere else, i can guarantee you will be so disappointed!!!!! Trust the bad reviews!!!! And don't believe the 'luxe' advertisement!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not 5 star
Sep 10th, 2020
We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of September. The hotel grounds are beautiful and we were lucky to get a room close to the main pool, beach and snack bar. We did go to the main restaurant for breakfast but this meant climbing many steps, I should have looked at this further before booking. The entertainment staff are amazing and one of the best we have seen. The staff in the hotel are lovely and so helpful. We had a few issues with the a la carte one evening but the hotel apologised and rectified the issue. A small thing to many people but we could not believe that a 5 star hotel did not sell branded soft drinks! I’m not sure if this is just a Crete thing but the coke, sprite was awful and just a local brand. The cocktails are okay but could be better, you have to pay for most of them as there are only 4 on the all inclusive menu. The hotel is about a 30 min walk to Hersonissos centre and the walk has gorgeous views and definitely worth doing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not a 5 star hotel!

I stayed in this hotel for a week at the beginning of September. When I arrived, I started to cry. Absolutely disappointing! A hotel with huge potential, extremely poorly maintained. You had the feeling that everything will fell: from the furniture doors to the toilet button. Except for one person at the reception, (a lady in her 40s) the rest were arrogant and offered me what I asked for (and went into their duties) only when I used a slightly aggressive tone, otherwise .. .no ask, no receive (safe key, for example). The Internet is very bad, both free and paid. Now the good parts: good food, not exceptional but good. I didn't go hungry, but at 5 stars you want more than not to stay hungry. The restaurant staff was ok. The excellent part: the animation team. Only they made us not have a missed vacation. Michal, Elena, Beisa, Gloria and Matisse are exceptional, they put their whole soul into what they did. The people at the bar, especially Gianna, did their job very well. From the point of view of health safety, everything was ok. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Lovely.. for a 3 star

This is a lengthy one! My boyfriend and I stayed here for 10 days in August after our original holiday was cancelled. We were really excited as it is rated 5* by the hotel and 4+* on Jet2, however I would say its a 3+* at best. When we arrived, we were told ‘only check in online’ - no help, no idea of the website or anything. We did see other guests of different nationality at check in that didn’t have to do this. When we had checked in, it was almost like we were an inconvenience for the receptionist. Anyway, following this we made our way to the room. Room - we booked a double and walked in to a spacious room with 3 beds. There was plenty of storage but a lot of the cupboards were nearly falling off and one of the curtains was off its hinges - not an issue though. Our balcony was tiny but we didn’t use it anyway. It does come with a clothes dryer though. Restaurant/food - we made it just in time for the end of lunch and were greeted by the staff with beaming smiles, which was lovely. You now tell the staff what you would like and they serve this for you. There was plenty of hand sanitiser dotted around too, which continued throughout the holiday. Food was okay. A lot of things were ‘same thing, different day’ but there was always something and the majority of the food was nice. Beware of the meat that you get from the grill as sometimes it is a bit pink!! We let the kitchen manager know about this but unfortunately experienced it later in the holiday. Pool areas - the pools could do with a clean! There is quite a bit of mould up at the relaxing pool/pool bar and lots of stones in the pool. I didn’t spend any time down at the main pool where they do all the entertainment so can’t comment on that. The sun beds are first come, first serve and mostly taken by 9. Cleaners - I don’t think they actually clean! Our floor was filthy when we first got in there and every day we asked them to come (you have to request this now) it just seemed like they had made the beds - the floor got worse as the holiday went on. Drinks - good selection and most drinks taste fine. They have a good range of cocktails on the all inclusive too. Check out/Baggage room - check out has now been pushed forward to 11am (the only place I saw this was on reception). It’s €40 to extend to 6pm but we were happy to leave our bags in the baggage room... until we were told that this is now closed and that we could just leave in the corridor... by the door... meaning literally anyone could have taken it. Anyway, luckily we were able to store these in our friends room. When our transfer arrived, none of the staff said bye to us and if I’m honest, couldn’t care less although with other guests of different nationalities they got a goodbye! At most hotels I’ve stayed at the hotel staff have been lovely when leaving so I found this strange. Location - this hotel is in the middle of nowhere! We got a taxi to Sofas, which was €12 one way and took a 35 minute walk along the beach front to the nearest bar. I should have noticed this before booking, so that’s my mistake. So as I said - lengthy but wanted to get everything in as I probably wouldn’t have been disappointed if I’d have read this before going. If this was classed as a 3+* hotel, it would have been exactly what I’d have expected. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
