Spectacular views of The Pitons from accommodations
Some past visitors cautioned that bugs are a common nuisance here
Anse Chastanet Resort stands as St. Lucia's only property with views of both the Petit and Gros Piton mountains. Spread across 600 tropical acres and flanked by two white sand beaches, Anse Chastanet's 49 rooms (some with only three walls) are either perched on the verdant hillside or nestled beach level within a tropical garden. Recent guests loved the relaxing, naturalistic setting but suggest packing plenty of bug spray. Outside the rooms, visitors have access to a host of activities, from yoga to jungle biking. Scuba divers will be especially pleased with the property's location since the surrounding area is a marine reserve. Meanwhile, those more interested in relaxing by the water than plunging beneath it can book a refreshing treatment at the Kai Belté Spa. To round out this nature-inspired retreat, travelers have their pick of five dining options, including one inside a treehouse. You'll find Anse Chastanet on St. Lucia's southwestern coast next to its sister property, Jade Mountain.

Critic Reviews

Spectacular, individually designed rooms – some with fourth walls open to the stunning Pitons view – peek out of the thick rain forest that cascades down a steep hillside to the beach. So it's delightfully peaceful here; in fact, it's fairly isolated due to the rugged (to put it mildly) dirt-road access.

St. Lucia's premier resort still has the right stuff, and good bones – both natural and manmade – have a lot to do with it. The open-air rooms and villas are terraced into a lush hillside, and it's a steep 103-step descent to the resort's azure cove and white-sand beach.

This 600-acre resort has octagonal hillside cottages and waterfront rooms individually designed with local woods. Cushions and bedspreads are a bright madras plaid, "the island's cloth."

Anse Chastanet Resort is a four-pearl hotel located a short drive from the town of Soufriere. Its 49 rooms have oodles of character plus incredible views, and some are partially open air, with only three walls.
