Amazing Hotel

Jul 1st, 2019

In town for business and stayed in the Admiral suite. Absolutely the best room I have ever stayed in. Large rooms, tall ceilings, comfortable bed and furniture. The staff was helpful, friendly and available when needed. Definitely a five-star stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gorgeous, historic hotel in a great location in the heart of Charleston!

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel! My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights while our daughter was at the G2 Golf Academy in Bluffton. The room was huge and wonderfully appointed. Our room had a very comfortable king bed, a spacious bathroom, a relaxing living area with sofa, chair, coffee & end tables, desk, generous closet space, and a mini fridge, sink, microwave and coffee/tea maker in a nice little kitchenette area. The Housekeeping staff does an amazing job keeping this historic property’s rooms looking fantastic! The hotel is centrally located in Charleston so it’s super convenient to walk to restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, etc. Plus there is a Harris Teeter grocery store right across the street so if you have forgotten anything, you can easily solve that challenge within moments. The daily breakfast offered was delicious each day....juices, coffee, tea, water, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, make your own waffles, bagels, danish, muffins, fruits, and hot items - ie scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. - similar to what you find at most limited feature hotel chains but this comes with great southern hospitality from their very friendly staff! :-) We also appreciated the daily water, tea, lemonade and coffee service in the breakfast area. The hotel also introduced us to Charleston Tea Plantation tea (via the breakfast area), which we were delighted to try. We ended up going to Wadmalaw Island to take the tour of Charleston Tea Plantation, which was fantastic! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Charleston - especially if you appreciate unique hotels with great amenities and service. I definitely want to stay here again when we return to Charleston. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Still a favorite

This is our second stay over the past few years and it was great again. The room we had this time was on the ground floor facing East Bay and I was worried it would be a lot of traffic noise but no worried we heard nothing . Room Ac was great , bed comfy , great linens , nice bathroom and shampoos were good. Wine and cheese in afternoon a delight. Breakfast on second day was not as good only because they ran out of the main thing which was french toast and seemed like it took forever to get more and bacon ran out too. That would be only thing to say was have more bacon and mains coming at all time s!!! Location is good and right next to a 24 hr grocery if you need it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Love this hotel!

Recently, I had my third visit to this hotel. I cannot say enough nice things about Ansonborough Inn. The staff is incredibly friendly and eager to make your stay pleasant. We were greeted warmly and attentively whether at the from desk or in the dining room for breakfast in the morning or wine and cheese in the afternoon. The hotel feels very clean which is super important to me. The rooms are quite spacious with comfortable beds. The decor is beautiful and decorated as if you were in an 1800's inn. You are also close enough to the historic district where you can easily walk to all the historic attractions. There is only one drawback to this hotel - it can get noisy with the street noise and other guests slamming their doors (which is not uncommon in hotels) so if you are a light sleeper I would suggest bringing a white noise sound machine with you. We will definitely be staying in this hotel again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Delightfully Out of the Ordinary

Tired of typical hotel rectangular rooms? Ansonborough Inn is for you! Massive, exposed wood beams crisscross at unexpected angles. Dark wood panels, brick walls, period wallpaper and classic furnishings provide character. Really neat rooftop deck with great seating, some shade and neat views of the city. Located on the edge of the historic downtown area, in easy walking distance of nearly everything worth seeing. Every staff member was pleasant and helpful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
