Relaxing and beautiful

Aug 19th, 2019

Nice hotel was set on a prime tourist street. Park next to the hotel, Ghiradelli chocolate factory one block away, pier 39 a half mile down the street. Restaurant, ice cream place and bicycle rental shop attached to hotel. Rooms were quaint and neat. AC lacked a little to be desired... then again when you are from Texas you make every place freezing as possible because you are use to melting during the day. Lobby has games out on tables in front of the fire place. Makes for a great time warming yourself by the fire and playing games. Bay view from the park next door was breath taking. Clear view of Golden Gate Bridge from the hotel, when it isn’t foggy. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful historic building in a beautiful location! Right on Fisherman's Wharf. Close to excellent restaurants and activities. Rooms are beautifully appointed. Concierge (Matthew) was very helpful. Highly recommended! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Perfect location for family trip to SF

Aug 17th, 2019

This was our first visit to San Francisco and we could not have chosen a more ideal location to explore the city. The Argonaut is in Fisherman’s Wharf within walking distance of all the sites and the city, plus Pier 33 for Alcatraz tours. The hotel has a modern, nautical vibe. Our room was fairly spacious with 2 comfy queen beds. We were a family of 4 and didn’t feel cramped. The bathroom was small, but well appointed with nice toiletries to use. We had complementary fresh brewed coffee in the room- a nice touch. Our room had no view as it looked out over the inner courtyard, but it was very quiet. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ky on the front desk, and Matthew, the Concierge. We ate a couple of times in the Blue Mermaid Restaurant which served delicious clam chowder. The fish and chip portion size was a bit disappointing for the price, but overall good food and friendly staff in the bar and restaurant. The hotel offers 2 hour free bike hire, but you have to be quick as it’s first come, first served. We missed out on the free 2 hours, but Matthew the Concierge got us a discount at a local bike hire place anyway. Overall we loved our stay in San Francisco and would highly recommend the Argonaut. It’s a great hotel in a location which cannot be beaten! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Truly exceptional, just be thoughtful about room choice

Aug 16th, 2019

Pros: - Hotel decor is wonderfully upscale and tasteful, nautical theme just fits perfectly on the Wharf - Location is perfect for visiting San Francisco. In the part of Fisherman's Wharf which is much less crowded and commercial, close to cable car turnaround, close to Marina, close to Ghiradellii square. - Staff exceptionally sensitive and helpful - Blue Mermaid restaurant is great, outside seating with firepits, etc. - Good but no great fitness center - Very comfortable beds - Very tastefully decorated rooms - Bike shop right next door. Cons - King suite layout is poor for families. Kids have to go through bedroom for bathroom, adults have to go through living area to leave room. No locks on either the bathroom or bedroom doors. Book two connecting rooms if you can, although this options is clearly pricier. When we pointed this out to the hotel mgmt, they agreed and made accomodations for us. They also stated the hotel is due for renovation next year and should address this (why the hotel would be being renovated any time soon is a mystery, it looks brand new right now. Bottom line: can't miss choice for SF vacationers. Just make sure the room works for you. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel with nice touches

Aug 16th, 2019

Really liked this hotel. Room was well done, clean and had great touches and decor. It was not cookie cutter and didn’t feel like every other note. Staff is great. Overall location is good but does get busy on weekends with tourists out along Jeffereson St and the end of the cable car line. It was a bright spot in our trip to SF. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
