Exceptional

This has become my favorite hotel in West Florida. Not only location is perfect, it’s downtown within walking distance of restaurants and the beach, but also close to the airport. Hotel has a lot of character: it houses an ever-changing art gallery, bar and restaurant on site. It is a Marriott property but feels like a cool private boutique. Staff is helpful and always professional. Highly recommended. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Terrific Hotel!

This is beautifully designed hotel in its class! Wonderful beds, quiet rooms, nice public areas, and a very accommodating, friendly staff! I would recommend rooms facing Palm Avenue or Cocoanut Avenue. The rooms looking North view at parking garages, and a blank gravel roof. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Accommodating Staff!

We spent the evening at the Art Ovation New Year's Eve party and Ryan- the Food and Beverage Manager- provided us with a great experience on the rooftop. The decorations and ambiance of the entire party were extremely classy and well-organized. Hasan provided us with specialty drinks that were incredibly refreshing for the night. He also prepared each drink with care and conversed with us. I am grateful for Hasan's expertise and kindness, and he made our New Year's Eve an outstanding experience! Thank you, Art Ovation Hotel, and especially thank you to Ryan and Hasan who made it an incredible night! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Style & Ambiance; Needs Management

Jan 8th, 2020

I checked in with my wife (who has very limited mobility) for five nights. First I am told that the room with roll-in shower is not available and I can have an accessible room with a bathtub. Who gets into a bathtub if they need an accessible room? Then I was told I could be moved after one night, but after settling in and unpacking we opted to stary. I requested a newspaper delivery. They asked where I wanted it (where did they think?). I said "by the door." Next morning no paper. I call and was told I wanted it by the door so it was downstairs by the front door. I report that the toilet seat was not tightly affixed to the toilet and the grab bar over the toilet was off the wall. I got the "so sorry" rountine from someone on the front desk who appeared to be a more senior person, but nothing was done. The next day when I reported it to the gal on the front desk it was fixed in 15 minutes. Service at breakfast was sweet but the workers lacked training. Everything from wrong dishes to errors on the check. Rooms were cleaned up after 3 pm. When I booked I saw the pictures of the rooms and the king room had a nice looking comfortable sofa by the window, and a desk chair. Our room had no sofa, only a single desk chair. I called downstairs and was told that accessible rooms do not have a sofa. Apparently someone believes someone in a wheel chair can get into a bathtub but never needs to sit comfortably or be accompanied by someone who does. I demanded a second chair at least. They show up with a wooden dining type chair. I reject becaue I am there for five days and dont expect to sit on a stiff wooden chair so they bring a second desk chair. Then, on the third day of our stay there is a knock at the door and they are delivering a "sofa"-or at least a part of one because it was devoid of a back and an arm on one side. It would have been useful if it had a back or was available two days earlier. The entire stay was one demonstartion after another of lack of management, coordination and training. This place is very unique in design and the art displays, musical performances and the unique design of the entire premises makes it a very special place. All the service people were extremely pleasant. The hotel has great potential. The problem seemed to be a lack of management and training. Perhaps this will cure itself over time, but you would think Marriott could handle this better. In any event, Notwithstanding my Marriott points and frequent use, I am more comfortable at the Hyatt and next time to Sarasota I will stop experimenting with new hotels and return to the tried and true. I like a room with drawers for clothes, not fake fronts on the cabinets which look like drawers in the pictures but are just solid wood with scoring on them to look like cabinets and drawers. Great location and management

Jan 8th, 2020

It is so convenient for walking to pretty much anywhere downtown! We had some issues with our first room, so were relocated to another room. Unfortunately, this room had issues, too, the extent of which were surprising for a relatively new property. When I brought these issues to the attention of Alicia, one of the managers, she did a great job of apologizing and making us feel that our patronage at their property was valued. We've stayed there before and are looking forward to our next stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
