Luxury At Its Best

Feb 16th, 2020

We stayed here for one night and it was not enough. We had three rooms and all were very different and beautiful. Drinks on arrival and beautiful places to sit and relax throughout the hotel. We had dinner in the Dungeon and although the food was nice, you only got small portions and the food was nice but average. Nothing special. Our children were greeted with small gifts in their room and chocolates with their names on it. For children, this is the hotel to go to. There was a small, but lovely pool, although kids were not allowed in there after 7pm. The cinema was amazing but not open for children at night. Movies for them during the day. However, they did let our children grab popcorn and loads of lollies to watch a movie in our room. For adults it would be nice to have a kid free movie. In the morning we went for a walk with the Irish Wolfhounds and I highly recommend doing this. The man that took us on the walk was very knowledgeable and entertaining. At Ashford there is lots of activities to do, so spending a week would be great. There is a small village nearby. In the grounds there is a coffee store and gift store and and a nice place for lunch. We had breakfast the next morning and the staff were amazing in the restaurant. The best service we have had in a restaurant. There was a massive buffet and then you could order food as well. Everyone was so welcoming here. Even the cleaner in the lobby stopped her vacuuming to have a chat with the kids. We will be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A world class experience from start to finish

Feb 15th, 2020

Many years ago, we enjoyed an incredible stay at Langley Castle Hotel, a compact medieval castle near Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland. At the time we were the only guests in residence. This meant we had the entire venue and its staff to ourselves. The result was a truly "once in a lifetime" experience. Since then, we've been somewhat hesitant to stay in another castle for fear it would never match such a wonderful memory. However, we need not have worried when it came to booking Ashford Castle. The venue not only met our abnormally high expectations, its genuinely exceeded them and managed to surprise and delight us again and again. Without doubt, Ashford Castle is delivering a world-class experience in a beautifully presented and maintained building, surrounded by equally stunning, immaculate and well-maintained grounds. The building itself is immaculately furnished and presented. Nothing ever feels tired, twee or out of place. From the moment we drove up the staff were attentive and anticipating our every need. Their service was always warm, friendly and sincere. Attention to small detail is everywhere. I rose early to walk the Irish Wolfhounds. The drawing room already had fresh fruit, scones, coffee and juice on offer and concierge had gumboot ready for me to try on. The Cinema offers fresh popcorn every night and so on. We dined in the main restaurant for dinner and breakfast. We indulged ourselves at dinner and enjoyed the chef’s tasting venue. The venison was cooked to perfection. The breakfast offering the next morning was comprehensive, fresh and delicious. Our only regret, we wish we’d booked a second night so that we could enjoy some of the venue’s other hidden gems. For example, make sure you drop by the billiard room if only to enjoy a nightcap and feel like the lord of your very own manor. The high room also looked impressive. Sadly, we had to be on the road before the first serving began. We’ll know better next time! Yes – there will be "a next time" for us. Ashford Castle is a genuinely world-class venue delivering a consistent experience in a magnificent location. Tripadvisor needs a "sixth circle" for reviewing venues like this. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Birthday Celebration

Feb 12th, 2020

Wonderful stay for daughters 40th. A true 5 star experience - the staff are wonderful- from the gatehouse where we were greeted to checkout. A beautiful hotel - it really does take your breath away when you drive up and see it in all its glory. Valet parking and told to leave cases in car they will sort it all out and bring them to your room - which considering it was pouring was great. We had two rooms both lake views and we had a turret in each room - how many hotel rooms have turrets? Fantastic!!! Beautiful view of lake - worth paying extra for. The housekeeping is meticulous- spotless - and the turn down service is the best we have ever experienced- candles lit - room tidied - music - chocolates- very much appreciated. We had a well paced gourmet 5 course dinner in George V - and the waiters brought cake and sang happy birthday to our daughter ahhhh! Afternoon tea in Inglenook room was arranged by the so helpful concierge- we love afternoon tea and this was perfect. We also ate at The Dungeon - steaks burgers etc - the food and service excellent again. The spa is also worth visiting - very relaxing and lots of walks in the grounds - if you like dogs go out with the wolfhounds in the morning- gave us an appetite for the great breakfast. Colin the general manager kindly showed us round and told us some of the history of the hotel - very interesting - and we were so impressed that he spent time with us when he must be so busy - but that is typical of all the staff - they will do anything for you - you are made to feel so welcome - I would rate them 5 star plus if I could. Thank you Ashford Castle. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Truly Magical Experience

Feb 11th, 2020

My boyfriend took me here as a birthday present for 1 night and I just don't have words to describe the magic of the place. From the moment we got to the gate we were welcomed like long lost friends / celebrities with the staff coming to introduce themselves and shake our hand. Everything was seamless from the moment we arrived and it was as if the staff couldn't do enough for us. The grounds are breathtaking and the walk we took was a definite highlight, even in the rain the place was picture perfect. Dinner in the George V restaurant was spectacular in every way, with the dinner being in my top favorite meals I've ever had. The breakfast was also absolutely gorgeous. The whole castle is exquisitely preserved but with all of the modern technology you would need, you can tell that there has been no expense spared with any of the features in the rooms. I will definitely hold the memories of the night in the Castle dear to my heart and I will dream about the day when I will be able to visit again... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
