I stayed a few years ago , on the 3rd floor , in the old Norman wing - was woken up all (3) nights at 3am with a distinct knock on the door - also it was summer so with windows open you cld make out some disturbance in the woods across the lough - reception said it was banshees :) I tend to agree - it was a great stay - little creepy too When u opened ur door and no one around - except huge paintings of past residents - w/ their eyes 👀 looking at you - slammed my door and pulled the covers over my head! Wasn't quite at the level I expected

May 9th, 2020

My wife and I were traveling throughout Ireland for our anniversary trip, making stops along the way. Stayed at the Adare Manor a few days before, coming off a wonderful experience, thinking that our stay at the Ashford Castle would blow it away due to the positive reviews This was definitely not the case for us. The room and castle area were nice, along with the grounds (not as nice as Adare Manor but unique in its own way) I think it really came down to the poor customer service at the reception desk. Upon check out, I found that drinks that we didn't even order were charged to our room. The receptionist made it seem like we were trying to pull a fast one on her, and had to confirm this in front of us by calling the staff before removing the charge. She obviously had a receipt without a signature so that should tell her that something wasn't right. Then on top of that I have an Amex Platinum Card. This give certain privileges like the late check out and the dining credit. She just didn't care, said we could not have it. She just kept saying that I would have to directly call them because she ‘didn't want to ruin the relationship with Amex’. Well she obviously didn't care about the relationship she has with her guest which should have been her priority. Even as an error on their part of charging me for items we didn't order, she wouldn't even do anything. I also told her I'd write a review regarding this and nothing but, "I'm sorry". Poor customer service when you spend over $1000 a night. All the top hotels like St. Regis, Four Seasons, even Adare Manor, will bend over backwards for their guests. I didn't feel like that with Ashford Castle. It's sad to say this but please check your bills here when checking out so you are not getting scammed. If you have to choose between Adare Manor and Ashford Castle, pick Adare Manor. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Three Times and still a perfect Charm!

Apr 30th, 2020

As I sit here in lockdown in Boston, I now have plenty of time to review and dream wistfully about our sumptuous stay at Ashford Castle at the end of January. This was our 3rd visit & there's much about consistency. From the incredibly kind staff & flawless and friendly service to the comfortable interior of the castle itself, to the scrumptious cuisine--Ashford is the whole package. You're not anonymous here--the staff addresses you by your name which is such a lovely & personal touch. Our stay began with our welcome from Niall--who is just awesome & makes a huge effort to make sure your stay is perfect. We stayed two nights in a corner stateroom which was very large, exquisitely decorated & had beautiful views of the river & lake. The food at Ashford is a celebration all itself, from a fabulous dinner in the dungeon, the expansive breakfasts with an endless selection & a very special dinner in the George V dining room. For the 3rd year in a row we loved being greeted by sweet Briege in the morning for breakfast. I had an incredibly relaxing spa treatment (the Elemis cellutox ocean wrap--highly recommend), & utilized the pool & steam room. The grounds around the castle are just stunning. My husband & I went on numerous daily walks, and as well, rode the castle bikes into Cong. Ashford is such a special place & we just love it. I think another thing makes Ashford so special is that the staff is truly a family--there's little turnover & it's at once wonderful & comforting to see the same people each visit. I've daydreamed about our perfect stay often as we all wait out this pandemic. I wish everyone at Ashford well and hope that you all stay safe & healthy. Looking forward to seeing you next time. A Fantastic Tea and Gorgeous Castle

Apr 26th, 2020

We loved our afternoon tea at Ashford Castle, then to walk the grounds afterwards, amazing!! The tea, finger sandwiches, sweet treats and scones were phenomenal, with many options to choose from!! Everything was very plentiful, and if you would like more of anything, you just needed to ask. The scones were freshly baked, your server would wait until you were finished with everything else and then popped the scones in the oven. They were the best ever! The beautiful decor and ambience was perfect, made for an even more special afternoon!! We also ate in the drawing room for lunch the next day, that was wonderful as well. A beautiful dining room with a gorgeous view of the loch. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A superb hotel.

This hotel is superb. Aside from the beautiful castle, the excellent restaurant and stunning surrounds every member of staff we met was both friendly and professional and you could tell they were proud to be part of this special place. I cannot recommend Ashford Castle enough and if you have the opportunity to stay there you should. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
