rooms smell of urine, elevators smell of weed

Jul 20th, 2019

Rooms smell of urine, elevators smell of weed. Food that was ordered never arrived. No explanation. Pool is filthy. Noisy inside and out. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this place. By the way, I stayed at another Marriott hotel at the Paris airport earlier in the year. Travelers waited more than an hour to check in at midnight. There was not water or electricity in the room. After these two experiences within a few months, I wont stay in a Marriott again TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not up to Marriott standards

Jul 19th, 2019

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights whilst attending a conference and disappointed with the standards overall. The hotel is huge but that is no excuse for the general cleanliness or lack of it. The public areas in the lobby and atrium are ok but at room level are not acceptable. The corridors by the rooms were dirty and not vacuumed in the 5 days I was there - same mess in the same places was a give away. The bedroom was just about acceptable but I would not have classed it as clean. Service in Velocity and Sears was poor and on multiple occasions it took over 20 minutes to even be acknowledged. Food was very average. This is a conference hotel and there was a very large conference being held but that is no excuse. Would think twice about using in future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Saving Grace is the Front Desk Staff!

Jul 19th, 2019

The hotel looks magnificent on the ML AL and Lobby levels, but that’s it! Go up to your room floors and it looks worse than anything you’ve seen. On my first morning, I left my room at 6 am and there was a pile of cake dropped on the walkway by some inconsiderate slob; I came back to my room around 4 pm and the cake pile was still there!! Amazing that Housekeeping didn’t take care of it as soon as they saw it. Also, this hotel has a ridiculous policy where they allow car parking only at Valet charges-$45! Fortunately, my work paid for it. Had I known ahead of time, I would have taken a cab from the airport. This hotel has skybridges that connect with other hotels, the mall, a CVS, and restaurants, so you really don’t need a rental car if you’re here for work and has no intention of driving out of town. I believe I saw the CNN and Coca Cola centers around this area. The front desk staff here is phenomenal but that’s about it. The rooms are god awful and defective; when you call their service desk, they either don’t pick up or takes forever to answer and fix the issue. I had to go down to the front desk to get my issues resolved. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lack of service and deceitful spa charges

Jul 17th, 2019

I previously had a bad experience in 2015 when the elevator I was in broke and plummeted over 20 floors, leaving me stuck in it for several hours. I went back this summer for a spa day and was again, terribly disappointed. The actual services were fine- it's the deceiving charges and lack of response from the hotel that were awful. The spa charges a "20% service charge." The spa personnel told us that it was a 20% "tax" and that the spa employees only got 5% of it, so please add gratuity on top of it. This is unethical-- either charge 20% and include gratuity, or let me add my tip. I called the spa and never got a call back from the Manager, then tried several times to contact the hotel via messenger. Though they see my message, I got ZERO response. They have proven to me yet again that they could care less. It's such a huge hotel, you really mean very little to them. As a frequent traveler, I had already limited my Marriott exposure, but I'm now eliminating it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I was going to Atlanta for PowerSchool University. It was scheduled at the Marriott Marquis. I booked 7 nights here. I was really impressed with the hotel. It is beautiful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Great experience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
