Beautiful room

What a comfortable stay. Newly renovated room and a great staff. The location is perfect for getting around the city and a lot of great sites are within walking distance to the hotel. I would highly recommend it! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not the best

Mar 1st, 2020

Had a great bed; and the location is good; Breakfast was inedible; people partying in all the rooms around us; under renovations; confusing layout. I wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for a quality stay. We had booked as was walking distance to Rebecca Cohn. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor customer service

Feb 24th, 2020

We stay here every year and it keeps getting worse and worse unfortunately. I have fond memories from when I was a child and stayed here with my family but I'm not sure we will keep returning. We stayed this past weekend for two nights with our three young children. Somehow in the booking process, we failed to notice on the website that the hotel was undergoing major renovations. We planned to have supper in the restaurant the first night we were there, but didn't realize until we were sitting down that they only had a very limited menu and no children's menu. They also do not have coloring for the kids anymore. The two male servers working that evening were rather rude when we inquired about the children's menu (or lack thereof). They were very unapologetic about the inconvenience of the renos as well (not that it's their fault in any way, but a smile can go a long way). We ended up leaving and going elsewhere for supper. Upon return to our room, we noticed the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke and kept getting stronger, it was obvious it was coming from the bathroom vent (likely from the room next door). I called the front desk and they said they would send someone up right away to check it out. 45 minutes later no one had arrived. I called again and the man who answered was abrupt and cut me off to say someone would be on their way. 20 minutes later a cleaning lady showed up with a rag and a spray bottle. I'm not sure what they expected her to do. The smoke smell went away eventually, but occasionally returned (whenever the other guests were smoking I suppose). We kept the bathroom door shut the entire time to keep the smell from getting in our room. The front desk seemed entirely uninterested in investigating further and I was told that "some guests don't follow the rules". Cleanliness is also lacking. We found an advil on the floor in a corner with some crumbs and a crumpled tissue under the nightstand. The shower has seen better days as well. The hallways and elevators are also freezing cold, which makes the trip back from the pool unpleasant. The pool never seemed to have towels either and a ladder rung was loose and wobbly causing my 4 year old to slip and badly bruise and scrape her leg. We did not report to the front desk though as they hadn't seemed interested in the smoke issue, so we didn't figure anything would be done. I'm sure the hotel will be lovely post renovations, but the customer service needs an overhaul. We felt like an inconvenience. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast staff in the restaurant are lovely, friendly, and accommodating especially Chris. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Horrible customer service

Feb 16th, 2020

To start this is the first time I ever done this, we stayed at the Atlantica on feb 8-9 we had 8 or more families and 22 kids for a hockey event, I have never received such poor customer service in all my life especially from the manger and the restaurant staff. We will not be returning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Qe2 visit. Overnight because of storm

Feb 14th, 2020

Haven’t stayed here since the name change. Only looking for a place to put my head for the night and it checked off most things on the bucket list. Comfortable bed, close to the hospital, quiet, clean newly renovated bathroom, price was ok. The hotel was under Reno’s as usually. Everyone I have been here it’s been tarps and scaffolding. I guess the view is nice from the restaurant but the reviews were not great so we went out to eat. They had a reduced menu as well so didn’t sound like it would be great. Lots of good places to eat close by. Parking is underground but don’t take a large vehicle there. The spaces are meant smart cars. Too many options for hotels in Halifax and Dartmouth to list this as a great experience. From the checkin to parking to tiny creaky elevator to the reduced menu. It was very travelodgey. Perfect for proximity to the QE2. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
