Our Favourite Holiday Hotel

Jan 8th, 2020

The old Port of Chania is a great place to visit and shop, with some good restaurants, an indoor market and good little museums to enjoy We have been going to the Atlantica for the last five year; the staff are super, from the manic Manager Dimitris (he never stops) the front desk Manager Eirini, Maria the bookings manager and Eleni who takes the drinks orders in the lounge bar. As regulars we were welcomed with hugs and kisses and treated as friends. The food is excellent with a very wide choice and a highlight. Evening entertainment is on the quiet side which suited us, but there is central Chania just 15 minutes away. Taxis to Chania are less than 10 Euro. The pools and pool bar are fine, but this last year we selected a superior room with access to a private pool outside the door. Very nice. Our regular treats are a massage for me and manicure for my wife at the Spa. Very elegant and a touch of luxury. This year we were treated to a complimentary extra short massage and treatment, and a meal at their secluded beachside Greek restaurant - very nice. . Trips to Rethimno (leather goods) and Lake Kournas (nice lunch) were enjoyable, and although trip to Heraklion and Knossos were great, they are a long haul. Sadly that will be our last trip to Crete and the Atlantica, which will be much regretted, not because of anything wrong with them, but the travel to Chania and the return journey are both getting too much for us. Apart from that we really recommend this hotel and Chania. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I wish we could give 6 stars

Nov 4th, 2019

We booked our stay here with TUI on an all inclusive basis 22nd-29th October 2019. We are a young couple (mid 20's) and stayed in one of the street facing rooms with balcony. Overall we we thought the Kalliston and all of it's staff were truly outstanding. We are planning to return again as soon as we can! The hotel is in a great location on Glaros beach and you can easily get the bus in to Chania (20mins). There are some shops, bars and restaurants a 15 walk away. Hotel and Rooms: Nicely decorated and always clean. The hotel is also making a number of efforts to be more sustainable and eco friendly which is great. FYI the hotel has predominantly English and German holiday-goers and most were middle aged or retired. Food and drink at the hotel were great with plenty of options and variety. The buffet lunch was particularly great. Lots of drinks to choose from in the all inclusive package. Good selection of daytime activities and fitness classes at the hotel led by a great team (Yoga, pilates, aqua fit, darts, ping pong, guided walks, giant jenga, shuffleboard, boules, skittle bowling and more). Pools: 2 Lovely large outdoor pools to choose from and never an issue getting a sunbed by the pool or o. the beach. All of the staff at the resort (those working for the Kalliston and those with TUI) were incredible. This really was the best part of the holiday. Staff were genuinely friendly, kind, very helpful and knowledgeable. Thank You Kalliston!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We just keep coming back!

Nov 4th, 2019

We spent a lovely chilled week here at the end of the season. The staff were great as always and still so enthusiastic considering they had almost finished for the year. This place certainly deserves its awards....and they keep coming! The lady on reception was so helpful in moving us to a swim up room, after some of the guests departed, which was far quieter than the road facing room we had had to settle with a late booking (if at all possible don’t book a road view...very busy and noisy). There is a lot of choice in the buffet, not always our preferred but there are so many people to please. The drinks are a mixture of locally produced and international brands, with cocktails and milk shakes etc....very palatable and certainly a massive improvement on lots of places we have stayed! We found a good price for the all inclusive but we never let it restrict us to just being in the hotel. We hired a car, as usual and visited lots of the remote villages where you can really experience the beautiful scenery. We returned in the afternoon most days and then spent the evenings in the hotel. There are lots of daytime activities and nightly entertainment, which is fairly low key and provides a welcome background. This time we really appreciated the courteous and friendly company of Maria and Giannis in the beach bar. All the staff are delightful but these two are one of your biggest assets and truly two of the nicest people we have ever met at a resort. Thank you to everyone at Kalliston for yet another great stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

a very relaxing holiday

Nov 3rd, 2019

We chose this hotel for a quiet relaxing break, and thanks to all the staff and management it turned out to be that plus more. Everyone worked at being fully inclusive and friendly where nothing was too much trouble, Always plenty going on at the hotel through the day, and varied evening entertainment if you wanted to paricipate. Buffet meals had plenty of choices although not always to our taste. the Italian and Greek resteraunts were very good. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
