Relaxed IF you are a relaxed tourist :-)

Mar 14th, 2020

The good: - two nice lagoons to swim with access to open sea to swim lust after the breakwater - generally friendly staff, most trying hard to make your requests right) - quite breakfast, but be there at 7:15 AM - nice tango class outside with classy music. The Bad: - Rooms could use a bit of care (missing door handle in the bathroom) To improve: - !!! Please PLEASE make at least half of the beach SMOKE free. it can be windy there and we have spent half of our time inhaling smoke from cigarettes. ( we have discovered a smoke free restaurant just outside of the hotel, so it is possible :-)) - A quite beach area would be also perfect (We have seen people just reading or sleeping togeter with people having open mike phone-calls for 30 Minutes.) So make zone or educate the guests. - Please replace the towel service / drink on the beach service lady with a friendly person. (thank you in advance as we plan to come back next year :-) - Please keep the gym open longer on the weekend. (4PM is a strange time to close) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Magical Place

Mar 6th, 2020

This was our fifth visit to Avila Beach Hotel. It did not disappoint. It is a perfect home base for exploring the island of Curacao. The grounds are beautiful and are centered on two white sand beach coves. The property is lovely and well maintained. The staff are excellent. Some exemplars were: - Helouise at the front desk who welcomed us warmly as returning guests. She also was exceptionally helpful when we encountered some difficulties from a fall. -Elvis who oversees the food and beverage area is a friendly and professional presence. He is always solicitous for our well being, and is patient when answering questions about the island and the local language, Papiamento. -Sheyla works in the gift shop and was a delight to meet and very helpful about the shop and the island. -Jeanine in housekeeping can always be counted on to do a thorough job with a smile and a laugh. In addition to the wonderful rooms, other highlights include: -Schooner Bar, outside on the water, which is a great place to end each evening; -Blues is a restaurant with outstanding Jazz on Thursday evenings. People come from all over the island to see the great local performers. -The ability to snorkel on a reef right out of the gap in the breakwater sheltering each of the two beaches. -Proximity to amazing restaurants. Within walking distance from the Hotel there are at least five excellent restaurants with more opening each year. These include Deja Vu, Mosa, Fishalicious, Serafina, and new this year was Null Twentig. All are wonderful. We can't wait to go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Relaxed & sunny vibe

Mar 5th, 2020

My friend and I had a lovely time. Loved the beach options and having things spread out. The Schooner bar was a favorite daily stop at all hours and loved the music at Blues. The staff was very friendly and it was nice to see how much they enjoyed working with one another. The location was ideal as well. Close enough to Punda, but removed enough for a more relaxed vibe. Escape from from winter in Curacao!

Mar 5th, 2020

We couldn’t be happier with the quaint, authentic and historical property. From the room, swim out beach, dining experiences, staff and ease to town center we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The rooms in the Blues Ocean Views wing are amazing. Rent a car online with Budget and pick up your vehicle right at the property and visit numerous exquisite and breathtaking beaches around the island. Be sure to enjoy dinner at the numerous restaurants just outside the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nearly perfect hotel/resort

Feb 26th, 2020

We really enjoyed our stay in Curacao, and will be back to Avila next time! We loved the little beaches and their lagoons that were great for swimming, snorkeling, and just lounging. We try to stay out of the sunlight because of skin cancer, and the wooden awning structures were perfect for us. There was food and drink service on the beach, which we enjoy, though bars were so close it wouldn't have been an effort to just go there too. We loved that there was so much (beach, pool, restaurants/bars, bathrooms, our room) in such a compact area, and yet it didn't feel cramped. The only downside was there was a frosted glass wall to the bathroom and a door that didn't shut all the way because the magnetic latch was broken. Now certainly some people are free and open with using the bathroom and wouldn't mind this, but they also wouldn't mind a wall either, now would they? Nobody is uncomfortable with a proper wall. That one issue though didn't impact our overall enjoyment and we will stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
