REALLY CLEAN AND VERY COMFORTABLE

Jul 1st, 2020

We drove from Scottsdale, Arizona to Sonoma, California for our annual vacation as flying outside the USA was not in the covid-cards. We decided to stay at the Marriott in Bakersfield as our half-way point on the trip. What an excellent decision we made, and we would do it again! Everything was super-clean and very comfortable. We felt very relaxed and were impressed that the staff recognized us by name. Yes, we are Titanium status but we have stayed at JW Marriott hotels around the world and didn't receive any better treatment from the reception people. Breakfast was perfect for the Keto-diet member of our group, but skip the coffee and go to Dagney's nearby for the best java in Bakersfield. Thank you very much for taking great care of us (safety and comfort at the highest standard). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great customer service but could use new mattresses!

Jun 15th, 2020

Convenient Marriott if you need a break from driving on the 5. Nice service at the front desk and lounge/bar. Coming from SF where shelter-in-place is pretty strict, it was nice to have a glass of wine at a safe distance from others and you can tell the hotel is taking a lot of extra care to keep it clean and safe. Nice room and they put us on the 8th floor with the city view. Cool view of the trains without the noise! It was nice and quiet. The only drawback was the bed! I’ve stayed at so many Marriotts for work and know their style of mattress, usually pretty decent even for a side sleeper (though not perfect), but this one has my partner and I tossing and turning all night. I think it’s time for them to do an audit and upgrade the older mattresses. Other than that, a great stay just as you’d expect from Marriott. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice place to stay

Feb 20th, 2020

The Marriott Bakersfield is a fine hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the elevators are fast and get to you fast. I’m here on business and the hotel suits my needs well, the TV is good. The placement of some of the furniture is a bit off, though. The sofa is against the window and you have to squeeze behind it to close the drapes. The refrigerator is against the wall and next to the sofa in such a way that the fridge door opens toward the side of the sofa. Bottom line is that you have to reach and bend over the door to get into the fridge. Also, there is no microwave. The other problem is that the wi-fi is quite slow and freezes a lot. That’s unusual in hotels these days, usually wi-fi is fast and reliable. Another positive is that the parking is free and plentiful. Overall, a pretty good Marriott property, new and modern. Nice business hotel

Jan 27th, 2020

I stayed at this hotel for work and it delivered. Decent sized rooms, a nice gym that was empty, and easy to get food. Starbucks and a restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel also has room service. Very easy to walk to downtown activities from the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We were given a down graded room

Oct 30th, 2019

We stayed here last year for a conference. Everything was really great. This year, we got a down-graded room. We check in and find that our room had the air conditioning main units outside our window. That had a feeling of 'cheapness'. The check-in day they had the main door closed off to paint the outside. Hmmmm... I surely didn't get the impression we were anyone important. Or that they cared if we were there or not. But, on a much better note. We had the best service in the Nines. Thank you to Andrew and James. You are the best. We couldn't ask for better or more attentive 'catering'. Thank you both. I hope to see you next year. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
