Not a terrible property, but the management...

Oct 6th, 2020

My wife and I stayed here on our anniversary, and the experience was nothing short of disappointing, possibly the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The property was commensurate with the price and website description, nothing fancy, but adequate for budget vacation in Banff. The room was clean and neat, and there was a complimentary breakfast buffet, although I would not recommend it. The trouble started when, on the night of our anniversary, the toilet and bathtub began to overflow. To our surprise, the night manager’s response was to bring me a bucket with a plunger. No further explanation was offered. After I unsuccessfully attempted to plunge my own toilet, the manager finally agreed to call a plumber. He didn’t arrive until the early hours of the morning, and the manager never offered to switch rooms for us. When questioned by my wife why she (the manager) didn’t plunge our toilet for us, or call for the plumber right away, she said that she didn’t know how and calling at night would have made it an emergency. To us, this did represent an emergency, as we were unable to use the bathroom in our own hotel room. In the morning, frustrated, my wife insisted that we be given a new room for the remainder of our stay, mainly so we could shower and use the restroom before leaving. The front desk agreed to do so, but they made sure to tell us that we had to check out of the new room in exactly thirty minutes to avoid late checkout charges. This seemed unreasonable to us, but we attempted to comply, quickly showering and checking out. Upon arriving back home, I realized that I had left a computer cable in the room. We called the hotel and asked if they would mail it back to us, and they demanded for 50 dollars to do so. We appealed to them for free, or partially sharing, shipping costs based on our terrible experience. The manager, more concerned with showcasing her business acumen then serving the customer, explained to us in very smug and condescending terms that she would be unable to recover her losses if she did that. I never received the cable back. Overall, the experience was terrible, and I would not return under any circumstance. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hospitality with simple and clean amenities

We stayed for 2 nights when we stopped in Banff on a transCanada trip (with a u-haul). The staff were very pleasant and accommodating of us (including our giant truck). The location was good- walking distance to town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another great stay at the Banff Aspen (in Banff, not Aspen.) When we are in Aspen, we stay at the Aspen Banff.

Look both ways before crossing the street in Banff. The Banff Aspen is a great place to stay due to its handy location, well placed hot tubs - outside between the rooms on the ground floor, the nice relaxing entrance and foyer, the very helpful and personable staff both at the front desk as well as those servicing the rooms, the good quality WiFi throughout, the clean rooms, the double sinks, the split rooms (so that you don't have to hear your girlfriend or wife snore like a bear (mine doesn't, more like a three bears in random harmony) and the sauna and ability to feed the wildlife right from your room, as the deer love to stop by and visit for a snack or two. Birthday ski trip

Mar 22nd, 2020

We stayed march 12-15 (before the covid-19 really started shutting things down). I booked our stay online through, but was nervous because it was booked around the time of march break starting. The hotel was busy but actually quite quiet (could have been due to covid-19). The room was nice, clean but a bit small. Only real complaint would be the shower/tub, the tub was only maybe 2 ft deep (pretty low) and the shower head was very low in the wall as well. If you’re tall it makes for an interesting shower. The hot tubs are nice, we didn’t utilize them as much as we would have liked but covid-19 didn’t make sharing a small space of steam very appealing. The location is really great! We really lucked out with that because it’s basically in the middle of the hotel strip and easy walking distance to all the shops. The shuttle for skiing is right out front. Free parking if you have a car, underground and behind the building. I picked this hotel because it included breakfast. There was lots of food variety, even if you’re picky there’s plenty of food to choose from. The white bark cafe also has hot drinks and food for a fee. For the price, with breakfast and the location, we would definitely stay again and recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to stay in Banff

Mar 17th, 2020

Great central located hotel in Banff. Nice big room with two double beds and with a balcony to watch the snow falling. Easy friendly breakfast. Excellent spas that are great for debriefing at the end of a active ski day. Bus stop located just next door! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
