We returned to Barnsley again, as we have for the past twelve years, but never under the pandemic conditions. As usual, it did not disappoint. We were happy to see the updates to the decor that have been made during the time it was closed, much brighter. The staff continues to be the finest we have experienced, and the food, again, was outstanding. As it was Thanksgiving weekend we delighted in the holiday lighting of the ruins as well as the rest of the property. A very festive touch to get us in the spirit. The resort has done a very good job of adapting to the requirements of health safety without compromising the quality of your stay to the extent they can. Without being picky it would be nice if guests were more conscious of the pet leash requirements as there were several messy confrontations on the Green while we were there. We will continue to send our friends over and look forward to our return in the next few months TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall a good stay. Absolutely beautiful! Staff is friendly and helpful. Online booking for activities is a bit cumbersome. Bed was comfortable, but not amazing. The food was great, and there was a lot to do. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Makers Event Weekend
Nov 1st, 2020
I went to a wine and BBQ event at the property Halloween weekend. The place is gorgeous!! I booked services at the Spa Friday morning, attended a wine tasting Friday afternoon and a BBQ/ Wine dinner Saturday night. The resort has golf, horseback riding, bike rentals, and hiking trails surrounding the beautiful gardens and ruins of the Godfrey Barnsley family (such a tragic but fascinating story). The hospitality of the staff and all the special guests the resort brought in for the weekend made this trip so memorable! You can stay in the Inn or rent one of the many cottages around the property. It is spread out over many acres but they can set you up with a golf cart ride if you don’t think you’re up for the walk. I didn’t play golf but the course looked amazing from the covered terrace at the Woodland Grill. Definitely take the time to tour the gardens and ruins. I can’t wait for them to host another wine weekend as I am definitely planning to go back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Cute but overpriced

The resort is really cute outside; however, the accommodations leave much to be desired. The cottages are very old (see my pictures) and we were constantly killing roaches. Old dirty gold fixtures everywhere. The outdoor furniture hasn’t been cleaned in months. We would be more understanding; however for $1300 for 2 nights this is not acceptable. We called the front desk before arrival to inquire about the Wine and Brine event to be told we could not bring children because they were serving alcohol. Pictures of the event showed otherwise...so we were disappointed we were misinformed. Limited housekeeping service. The food is an A+. Everything we had was great...we were impressed in this area. Bottom line...we left a night early. Yes, we spent $1300 for 2 nights and left after 1. The property is very beautiful but with many things closed (ie: Beer Garden) we were pretty bored. There seemed to be zero guests there when we left the property today. This resort is WAY overpriced for what you get and we were disappointed. If you would like 3 star accommodations for 5 star prices then stay here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This resort is a wonderful place to go personally or for a work event. We have enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was great and everyone went above and beyond for us. Also, the food is amazing. Highly recommend this resort. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
