Sheraton is a flop

Oct 5th, 2020

Okay People, here we go...Got here with a conference. They said no check in until 4. Finally around 5 something, we get 1 of our 2 rooms. Had to sit in an overpriced, hot, bad service restaurant at their pool called flip flops....finally the other room is available. Traveling with husband, son and father in law. How hard would it have been to up is in adjoining rooms?? Pretty hard, they messed that up too. Day two: strange man who was wandering around the lobby the day we checked in ended up in my son and father in laws room, in their room, buck-naked. Poor guy was probably appeared to be homeless and had a mental problem. He urinated on their bed and in the carpeted floor. Sheraton changed the sheets but did not clean the carpet. I feel for them being short-staffed, but come-on. We stubbled in on a naked man in the room because the door would not latch either--so he just wandered on in...Security called the cops and he was taken away. Now if that weren't enough, we're out of season here in October, so every chance they got, there was someone running a weed eater, leaf blower, or some other aggravating machine. No rest for this even on the weekend. If they have that much work to do, the should close up , do the repairs and then open back. Finally, we were told housekeeping service was every 7 days around here. So I am going on the 4th day using my everything. Little soaps, lotions, or any other consumable here. If you run out, just run to Publix and save yourself the headache. Honestly, this has been the worst travel experience largely due to the Sheraton's skeletal staff and fact that all of their amenities are closed. Skip Panama City altogether--not that nice. Go to Destin or St. Augustine---you'll have a much better time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Weekend getaway

Sep 26th, 2020

This property maybe owned by marriott, but it does not meet Marriott standards. ( I am platinum status and stay at a lot of Marriott properties) - staff is not focused ... worst check in ever - pool area covered in ants and staff is no where to be seen - ate at private beach bar and expectations were limited - terrible food. - Walk past staff and they all look away and act like they just want to avoid you. Marriott needs to take action here, this place has a lot of potential. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Impressive staff - very pet friendly - nice Labor day w-end w/ activities

Sep 21st, 2020

We almost had to cancel our trip because our rescue dog doesn't do the kennel very well - but, initially through a social media post we reached out and were able to bring our dog! They were very flexible with us and we certainly appreciated it. We upgraded to a room w/ a bay view - 2 queen room with very narrow balcony - that was a disappointment - not sure why they built it like that - very few rooms actually had a balcony w/ chairs. As platinums we received breakfast for two in their restaurant - it was a nice buffet which included coffee (no juice!) we enjoyed it but it was the same both days -would have been nice for them to offer something different, but nonetheless we enjoyed it. They really did a great job with activities for the holiday w-end; both nights they had a good Dive in movie poolside, one day they had a big BBQ ($18 pp) AYCE ribs, chicken, burgers, dogs w/ sides. And Monday they had a wing and drink special at the bar. We enjoyed the boardwalk to the private beach and pier restaurant. There is a 3rd party you can rent paddleboards, jet ski's and boats from. We rented a pontoon and it was so convenient to walk out and get on your boat and go! Due to Covid there is a limited number of lounge chairs both at pool and beach - I think they could provide a few more at the beach; they were definitely lacking in umbrellas. The staff is excellent and will go the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. I corresponded with them afterwards and they quickly made me whole again! They offer bikes, spa, golf and tennis - so much to do here! We never left the resort! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location off the beaten path

Beautiful area - love to sit outside and just watch the birds, fish, and sunsets. Very peaceful when not too busy. I did not bring mine but hotel is dog friendly and I like seeing them around. Did not eat there but had a few cocktails and they were good. All employees were friendly. Stayed during week so good value - would return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Decent place off the beaten path.

If you want to be close to the proximity of the beach and not in the main drag, this may be a good place for you. We stayed in the golf villas which was a decent place. However there were some repairs that needed to be made to the door and there was a rip in the box spring in one of the beds. I commented to my husband that this is the reason that Marriott will always be behind Hilton. Overall it was a good home base for the weekend. We did walk down to the bay beach just to see it and decided to go to St. Andrews. While the staff took COVID precautions, you cannot control people who are staying on the property. Sigh. We may stay here again for the proximity to St. Andrews State Park and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
