Great location, little else

Jul 24th, 2020

Having never been to Traverse City, we thought this hotel would be a great place to be based. We absolutely fell in love with the area, Bayshore Resort- not so much. Plusses are the hotel is right on a private beach with amazing views and the rooms are good sized and clean. However, there is virtually zero service for the very high price of a room. Times are tough with Covid but if you want towel changes etc you must ask - no fresh towels are provided without a request. We never receive a call, nothing- I think they are using the Pandemic as a bit of excuse to give no service at all. Masks are required but the most vulnerable elderly guests were never wearing them and nothing was said to them as these same people who don't wear masks also don't respect social distancing. During a deadly global Pandemic a resort that charges these rates should at least try and protect guests a bit more A large group took over all chairs on the deck and then threw hotel towels on all lounge chairs. When we asked the unmasked large group all on top of everyone, if we could possibly use the lounge chairs as we are also paying guests- they agreed then butted their chairs right up to ours making us drag lounge chairs all over the place to keep safety protocols. There was never a single employee of the hotel ever seen except at check in or handing out pre packaged items at breakfast, there should at least be one at the beach to try and keep order- but not a one was ever in sight. Also Traverse City itself is making it difficult for any walkers. The high waters prohibit walking their underground walkways and they have no crosswalks or even traffic lights that allow walkers to cross , there is always traffic that moves as if on a highway and to walk into town, one must risk their very lives by dodging highway like traffic. So the "walking into town" really is not safe for most, and especially not children or the elderly. All in all, perhaps during off season this hotel might be a good choice, but we would not stay here again, and will do an AirBnB or other rental when we return to Traverse City, since there is no service at all at this hotel, there is really not much reason to pay the high rate TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Better hotel for TC beach experience BUT...

Jul 9th, 2020

One of the few hotels on the waterfront with a beach, could use updating but not bad overall. You’re paying for the location. Staff was very accommodating and friendly but NONE wore masks during peak Covid-19... not housekeeping or front desk or even maintenance man who had to enter our room. The only mask we saw in four days was on the woman offering food at the “grab n go” breakfast. Masks and social distancing were non-existent so if that concerns you, this is not the place for your stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great value! Friendly staff.

Jul 6th, 2020

We stayed at the Bayshore Resort over the July 4th weekend, and had an absolutely lovely stay. The staff is constantly cleaning the beach side entrance, and the beach itself. Jet ski, paddle board, and kayak rental are on site, and they are friendly too. The view of the bay is gorgeous and I never felt like it was crowded. I had two random requests (a corkscrew and earplugs), and the front desk had both! The complimentary grab and go breakfast was well stocked and Covid appropriate. We walked to one end of Front Street, and probably would have walked further if it wasn't so hot. Our group included three teenage girls, who had fun on the beach and in the pool, and I felt they were very safe on their own on the property. The hotel is privately owned and it shows in their care of the guests' stay and experience. I would definitely recommend it to friends! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Bayside rooms are a must

Mar 15th, 2020

Had a quick weekend getaway. Upgraded our room to a bay view. Soooo worth it. You could hear the water, so soothing. Waking up to the view was amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. The hallways smelled like fresh air in the morning. Lots of coffee choices. Did not use pool but looked nice and clean. Winter stay, reasonably priced and quiet. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
