Excellent Family Place

Jul 25th, 2019

My whole family (children, in-laws and grandchildren) spent a few days in this property. My comments are: - The rooms are comfortable and spacious with good sized balconies. - The kitchen and dining areas are very ideal for casual dining and breakfast with functional appliances. - Bathrooms are spacious. - Swimming pools and lagoons are very family-friendly ... we enjoyed them a lot! - Location is central ... near to Four Seasons and the strip malls (all walking distance). The only "can be improved" comments I have are: - The bathrooms need handheld shower heads both in the shower stalls and bathtubs. This is especially convenient when giving our grandkids a shower. - The balcony needs to be more child-proofed to prevent children climbing too close to the railings. In our unit, the storage chests (heavy) are too close to the railings that kids can easily climb over. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best kept secret!

Jun 28th, 2019

On one hand, you want people to discover this place, but on the other hand, you want to keep it a secret! I'm opting for telling others about it because everyone deserves this kind of vacation! This is our family's fifth visit to Ko'olina, and our second stay at the Beach Villas. PROS: 1. Relaxing, quiet, and not as busy as the neighboring properties of Disney's Aulani, Four Seasons, and the Marriott Vacation Club. 2. Beautiful lagoons. Man-made rock berms prevent strong current and big fish-ies (with teeth) from getting into the lagoon. Kids can build sand castles, you can snorkel, and there are tons of beautiful tropical fish. We saw a sea turtle once. We've never had any issues with jellyfish. The beaches are groomed each morning by a "sand-Zamboni" kind of vehicle, but it's small and relatively quiet. I believe the villas each have beach chairs and an assortment of rafts, boogie boards, pool noodles, towels, coolers, and sand toys. Read your specific unit's list of amenities. Ours had beach towels too. 3. Conveniently located! You can access all kinds of attractions on Oahu from Ko'olina. Of course Pearl Harbor is a must. (The Arizona Memorial is currently closed for repairs-June 2019), but the tour boat takes you out and around it. Other attractions include The Dole Pineapple Plantation, Waimea Valley botanical garden where you can swim in a waterfall, the North Shore (don't miss Giovanni's Shrimp Truck even though it looks like a health hazard! Ha! Ha! That's their schtick, and the shrimp is AWESOME!). The Polynesian Cultural center is EXCELLENT!! Paradise Cove Luau is within walking distance of the Beach Villas (great activities for kids before the luau begins! Get there early!). There's also a little shopping area close by called Ko'olina Station. You can walk from all the resorts here (currently 4 resorts with an Atlantis in the works), or take a free shuttle. The little shopping area has several boutiques, Pizza Corner (great pizza like Pulled Kaluah Pork with Mango Salsa!), a breakfast place (long wait times!), an island BBQ place (with a very hit-or-miss reputation), Two Scoops Ice Cream and Shave Ice (it's not called "shaved"--sorry grammar junkies!), Monkeypod and a taco place that is empty every time we visit (hint! hint!). There's an island market/ABC (liquor) store there too with a great deli, meals to-go, groceries, sundries, souvenirs, OTC meds, everything you need. There are also a variety of food options at each resort ranging from beach bar, to super-fancy like Roy's at the golf club. Longboard's at Marriott is good--burgers and more. The Beach Villas property does not have a restaurant, but there is a Safeway, Walmart, Target and Costco nearby. Kohl's too in case your swimsuit doesn't work out! ;0( *OUR PARTICULAR VILLA OFFERED A SHOPPING SERVICE!* Check with your villa's property manager. Our manager was fantastic! For a fee plus the cost of groceries, he stocked our fridge with a list we provided. This is a huge bonus. We're from Colorado and fly with points, so the flight times are awful and we're always a little jet-lagged. Plus we just want to get to the beach when we arrive! Kitchens are fully equipped here, so you can cook just like you do at home. Plan on grilling while you're here! The Beach Villas property has 4 grills that are thoroughly cleaned every morning. Take your meat down in a foil pan, and bring an extra, clean pan to take your cooked meat back up to your villa. CONS 1. This comment has nothing to do with individual villas, but rather the property condition as a whole. This is a popular spot with thousands of families rotating through in a year's time and it's beginning to show. :0( It needs a little TLC. From our stay here at this property two years ago, the lounge chair cushions are getting a little ratty, and pool umbrellas are getting rickity. The landscaping is still absolutely stunning! So tropical and lush, but it requires lots of DAILY maintenance, especially if you're here when a tropical storm rolls through. You just have to get used to very quiet, friendly, professional gardeners working throughout the propert every day. Overall, we love this property/resort. The pools are more fun at Aulani and Marriott, but you pay more for that, and there are a lot more kids having (loud!) fun in them! ;0) The Beach Villas at Ko'olina are quiet, upscale, and more private. This review comes from a family of four who satarted coming to Ko'olina in June 2013. Our kids are 19 & 16 now, and they love it here which is good because we'd drag 'em even if they didn't! Ha! Ha! We've made five trips since 2013. We stayed once at The Four Seasons when it was the JW Marriott, twice at the Marriott Vacation Club, and twice at the Beach Villas. This is where we will stay on future trips. Five stars! A special public thank you to Patrick Park and his lovely wife for taking such good care of us June 23-28, 2019. Tropical storm Alvin barreled through and took our A/C with it. Patrick went above and beyond to help get it fixed. He offered to pick up meds when our daughter was running a fever, and he worked feverishly to give us a spotless villa between back to back bookings. We appreciate all you did for us! Mahalo! Amazing, Relaxing Stay

Jun 26th, 2019

What a find. Recently stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at this condo by the ocean located on Lagoon 2. Spacious accommodations with everything you need to prepare your own meals, wash you cloths and relax on a large balcony. Always able to find comfy loungers by either of the two swimming pools . One is a large quiet lap pool and the other a lagoon like pool both with hot tubs. Lagoon 2 provides calm waters safe for toddlers, children of all ages and adults. No umbrellas allowed on the beach but palm and other trees on the surrounding grassy area provide shelter from the sun. Barbecue grills available for guest use and there's a Beachside Bar for Condo Guests only but no food service. 5 minutes away from Walmart, Target and many other stores and restaurants, should you wish an alternative to the pricey restaurants within the Ko Olina Resort Area. As this is a Condo no daily housekeeping provided. Would definitely recommend this property which provides value for what it has to offer and is a short walk away from the much busier Disney Resort. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing vacation, then this is the place to stay. Look forward to returning again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Find!

Jun 21st, 2019

Beach Villas at Ko Olina is a great find if you want luxury condo style accommodations with kitchens. We rented a 2bd/2bth for a week and had an incredible time. The resort is very well maintained and the staff is very helpful. Our check-in was seamless and we were on the beach in no time. The great thing about Ko Olina is its location away from Honolulu. The pace is more relaxed, less traffic and shopping/grocery stores are just a 10 minute drive away. Being able to cook breakfast or lunch or dinner in your condo is a blessing not to mention a huge cost savings. We did eat out a number of times, but i could not imagine 3 meals a day for a week at Oahu prices. Beach Villas is also much more relaxing than the neighboring resorts (Marriott, Alani, Four Seasons) and that's exactly what we were looking for. Even with 2 teenagers, they appreciated the relaxed atmosphere over the crowded resorts. We never had to look for lounge chairs at the pool or space on the beach. The most crowded thing at Beach Villas was the line for using the outdoor grills by the pool. This is a great opportunity to cook outside and enjoy a beautiful sunset with your family and meet other families. Great Vacation and Great Location! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Relaxing and away from the chaos of Waikiki

Jun 6th, 2019

Location is great to get away from the craziness. You have access to the lagoons so for small children you don't have to worry about the large waves. There is a bar at the location, pools and grills. The condos were super spacious and plenty of room for everyone. The only drawback was the parking spaces were a little tight for our car rental. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
