Review from May 2019- Long Overdue

Mar 31st, 2020

We stayed at this resort in May of 2019. We had booked the French Village but were upgraded to Key West upon arrival. This was a very nice surprise! I was so excited! My husband and I have a 6 year old boy and this allowed us to have our own room which was nice! On the second night, my husband had extreme stomach pains and had to be rushed to the hospital. He ended up having to have his appendix removed. We were both very nervous about him going to the hospital. It turns out that the hospital is a clean, well run facility and is Canadian owned. There were also many doctors/staff from Canada that spend time working there! This was such a relief. This is a big benefit when travelling to Turks & Caicos that might not always be considered. Also, the resort took my husband to the hospital in their private car and it took less than 10 minutes to get there. Also a good thing to be aware of when travelling that you might not always think about. I was a bit traumatized by the whole thing, and was trying to act normal for my son as this was going on. The people at the resort called me several times to check in, offered room service, and were so caring through the whole thing. All the staff at Key West were honestly amazing. I have been to Turks a few times with my husband (adult trips), and have always stayed at Seven Stars. That hotel is amazing, but we were worried our son would be bored there (at his age). I was nervous about going to Beaches because I didn't want to be around tons of kids (to be honest), and I thought that for the price, there were nicer rooms/resorts in Turks. We ended up having an amazing time at Beaches. Although the rooms are a bit dated, the resort is very beautiful. The restaurants were the best I have been to when comparing to other all inclusive resorts. The water park was amazing- I had so much fun with my son there! He hasn't stopped talking about it, and I don't think there is another resort with a park like that. He also loved the kids club and looked forward to going back (which was a nice break for us!). We would sometimes take him to the kids club in the morning then hang out in the afternoon, and there were some days he asked to stay longer! The beach is amazing, and actually not too packed. The section is very long so just keep walking about you'll find a good space. We loved the resort and booked for May 16 2020. Based on the current situation I don't think we will be able to go. Our family is so sad, we have been looking forward to this for a year. We will definitely re-book as needed and will look forward to coming back. We booked French Village because of price (we couldn't afford Key West or we would have booked it). I would recommend French Village over Caribbean for anyone debating between the two. French Village has my favourite pool and looks pretty from the outside. There is also a nice cafe with great coffee in the morning. It is close to the waterpark as well which is nice! Thanks to everyone who made our trip amazing. I hope to be back soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Refusal to refund despite closing resort to arrivals

Mar 30th, 2020

We have been looking forward to our Spring Break Trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos for months. I wasn't surprised when we received the email on Mar 21st that our Apr 10th arrival could not be accepted due to the global Coronavirus concerns. When the rep reached out, she informed me that they would not refund my money because I'm within the non-refundable period. **Pause and think about that** They are closing to new arrivals and can't accept me (even if I wanted to come) yet won't refund. I escalated this to 2 additional "Supervisors" who held the party line- no refund but they will gladly hold onto the ENTIRE amount I've paid for my family of 5's vacation and allow me to rebook for a time in the next 12 (then extended to 18) months. I work in healthcare and can't predict when/if I will make it to Turks and Caicos. Besides that- I do believe it is fraud to cancel and refuse to refund the money for those impacted. I honestly believe they see that I purchased travel insurance (which happens to NOT include coverage for anything non-medical- so not helpful) and so they want to push this off onto them. NOT OKAY. I will not give up on this and don't think anyone else should either. I have heard great things about the resort itself, but find the business practices of Sandals Corporation unpalatable. Very disappointed......

Mar 30th, 2020

April 1 would have been our 6th visit to this beautiful resort. I called on March 14, 2020 to cancel out trip. My parents are 80 & 85 and in no way were they going to travel from Boston, through JFK to Turks!! I called and cancelled. They said they would issue me a 50% refund, which I have yet to receive. In addition, the world has been turned upside down with this Pandemic, but the way Beaches is handling this is totally unacceptable!! Our current state of affairs with separate the good from the Great travel companies. Beaches will not be one of them!! the resort has since closed, I still do not have a refund or any correspondence from them. The Beaches price point is one that does not appeal to everyone, so with that said, the people willing to pay should be treated better than they have been. Never Again!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

bad customer service

Mar 30th, 2020

just heard from beaches about our April vacation which is not happening since the hotel has sadly shut down. Very disappointed that they will not give us a refund - only offering a 12 month credit. with the scary state of the world, we have no idea if we will be able to make it to Turks in the next 12 months. feeling very disappointed about how this hotel is handing their customers. Best beach EVER

Mar 25th, 2020

Sending love to our friends at Beaches... We were lucky enough to have our third trip to Beaches Turks and Caicos before this sad pandemic fell upon us all. In addition to having the best beach I've ever been to, without fail, even during a trying time, everything at this resort was once again beyond A-plus; facilities, activities, people, food, customer service, cleanliness. To help prevent corona, dive regulators were separated and soaked in a bleach solution, every restaurant required hand sanitizer before anyone entered, bleach solutions were used to clean rooms and fun little elbow, foot hellos were established instead of the traditional hugs. Sadly, this resort like so many others has to close for the time being, so I encourage anyone interested in visiting to please do so right away after they re-open to support this amazing place and its fabulous staff. Not only did we return to a favorite destination, we returned to wonderful people who have been there for years whom we loved seeing again as well as meeting new friends. Big shout outs to Jamie (how many general managers greet you personally at check-in?) Lucy, RaShane (Ash will never forget you!) Captain Rick (our dolphin good luck charm!), Lydnon (dive photos turned out great!) Karen, Jomo, Harold, Rose and Angi. (And these are just a few of the kind people there!) We send our very best wishes to all of you during these hard times and hope to see you all again on our next visit. I honestly cannot say anything negative about this magical place and hope it thrives for many years to come. Our daughters are still young and we have already talked about family reunions with their kids. ❤️ Blessings and wishes to all for good health  TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
