Great place a distance rom the center of Boston

Dec 22nd, 2019

Very comfortable place....right across the street from a T stop...but about 11 stops into the center of Boston. On December 07 checked in. Woman who was cleaning and also checking us in was extremely pleasant and helpful. The "manager" that day, about 11 a.m., was not. He did not meet us and when the woman was checking us in he demanded she did something for him stating "they can wait." Rude. Towels, bathroom and bed was fine. Inside vanity, shelves were pretty dusty, but overall the room was very clean. Decent snacks for breakfast. Tea and coffee 24 hours. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My Kind of Place

Dec 18th, 2019

Clean rooms, affordable rates and next to a subway stop. You cannot go wrong with this place. I come to Boston every other week for business and always enjoy my time at the Beacon. Will keep coking back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

From a Persian doctor

The location, cozy room, hospitality of the staff, were all impeccable. The staff was wonderful, responding to my requests in a timely manner. I came from California and used to warm weather. I requested a heater and the stuff was so kind to bring it to me right away to make my stay as comfortable as home.Having the green line train in the front of the hotel was the best.I could easily commute daily to the conference place with minimal waiting time.I want especially to thank the front desk assistant Merve, who was very kind, hospitable, and informative. Even Less Than Expected

Dec 1st, 2019

It gives me no pleasure to have to write such a bad review. We were visiting family in Brookline, and the hotels where we have previously stayed had rates 2-3 times what the Beacon Inn offered, and it was just a couple-block walk from our family's place. If comfort isn't important to you, then this could be a cost saving alternative. The biggest issue was the mattress, which was like a sheet of plywood with a sheet over it. This caused us to bailout in the wee hours of our first night (Thanksgiving morning)! Beyond the bed, the accommodations at Beacon Inn were simply not user-friendly. There were no bedlamps, so reading in bed was not an option. The television had only the most basic service, so watching a commercial free movie, for example, was not possible. We had room 2, which is right off the lobby and faced directly on Beacon Street, so noisy. There is no duty person on overnight, so I returned later on Thursday to return our keys and speak with the manager. The manager was not there, so I left word with the staff for the manager to call me with the hope that perhaps we might get a refund for one of the two remaining nights we would not be using. As of the wrting of this review, the manager has not called, and I assume he never will. The illusion of caring I experienced at check-in was only that: an illusion. If you make a reservation here with the idea that you will be staying in something akin to a youth hostel, then you may be okay. Bring an air matress, though. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Historic House

Nov 24th, 2019

The Beacon Inn is absolute charming! Our room was large and comfortable. Coffee, tea and continental breakfast was available. The location was perfect for us because we were visiting our granddaughter who is at Boston Children's Hospital and it was only a half mile walk. We met Merve, a front desk host, on our last night there and had a delightful time talking with her. Our only word of caution is that most and maybe all of the rooms are upstairs. Also, in our room, #5, there was a big step up to the bathroom, which might be difficult for some people. We would stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
