Fabulous place to stay

Beautifully run by a great staff team, there is ocean, sun, shade and the apartments are very comfortable. I was not planning to come here, I wound up here because of a mistake in another booking, but I am so happy that I was brought here instead. I was in Apartment 6 which was great, ground floor access to everything, and my special staff member was Hillie. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We won't stay anywhere else!

We were fortunate enough to stumble onto this wonderful property four years ago and just returned from our fifth visit to the island and fifth stay at Belmar. Once again, we were so very happy with our choice! The office staff is great and helpful. The Dive Staff is fantastic. Flavia, Richard and Douwe are among the best. We can't say enough about Flavia and her hospitality, knowledge and attention to detail and safety. The lovely second dock has been rebuilt after being destroyed by the 2016(?) hurricane. It is a wonderful place to relax! The valet boat dive service (new this year) was also terrific. This will become more and more popular so be sure and book it in advance. Over the years we have seen lots of improvements to the property (the dive shop expansion and remodel, new trucks, aforementioned new dock, etc.). The smaller size means that you always receive personalized attention and never have to tell the staff which unit you are in or your name after your first introduction. After reading some other reviews and comments about activities/arrangements that were made but then not set up upon arrival, I'd offer the following based on personal experience. There can be a disconnect between the reservation desk/center which is a Buddy Dive operation (Belmar is a sister property of BD) and the front desk staff at Belmar. It's not unusual for requests sent to one to not find their way to the other. Also, the Dive Staff at Belmar uses a different email address that either the reservations or Belmar office staff. Everyone is clearly doing their best - it's just a challenge at times to be sure that your message gets to the right place. I strongly recommend confirming and reconfirming your requests prior to your arrival. You're not dealing with a huge number of people so always getting the name of the individual confirming your requests is helpful. We love being south of the airport and out of the cruise ship "traffic". The size is perfect with the benefits of the larger Buddy Dive property without the number of guests, activity level, etc. Outstanding property!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

What a generous life

Sometimes in life you are exactly at the right place, doing exactly what you are suppose to and with the best people possible it is exactly what happened, I just finish my Divemaster certification with the most professional, generous team of diving instructors , Flavia, Douwe, Richard, Vanessa and Julia in the best place possible with the most dedicated staff Stephanie, Elia, Anne, Math and all the cleaning team... thanks to all of them, thanks to life to be so generous with me... Didn’t Disappoint

This was our third time at Belmar. Our last visit we had many issues and management was determined to have us back and make things right. They succeeded. We loved our unit (#16) on the second floor. There has been a changeover in office staff and dive staff, and everyone was amazing. In particular I’d like to thank Stefanie for going out of her way to make our stay wonderful. She is lovely. A few others that stood out were Jardee, Flavia, Richard and Douwe. The only complaint I have, that was no fault of Belmar, were the screaming kids in the pool that took away from our ability to quietly read at the pool or on our terrace. Management did speak to the families but I think it fell on deaf ears. We were also assigned a newer vehicle and it was a far cry from the vehicle we had last time. We will be back again one day. Belmar/Buddy Dive Experience

We recently returned from a very enjoyable trip to Bonaire and Belmar, although it didn’t exactly start out that way. We booked/prepaid directly with Belmar a Grand Deluxe 3 bed/2 bath apartment along with 5 days of 2-tank morning “valet” boat dives, a fairly new dive package offered at the Belmar property only. Prior to booking, we contacted Belmar by phone several times to be certain that if we booked this package they would provide valet diving even if we were the only ones booked (3 divers, 1 non-diver), that they would not mix day divers or cruise ship divers with valet divers and that we would not have to travel to another location to obtain these services. However, during the dive briefing the afternoon of our arrival, it became clear that our “valet” dives had never been scheduled by the Belmar reservation agent and we were not listed on any Buddy Dive boats that week, valet or otherwise. There is no resident boat at Belmar, only Buddy Dive’s smallest boat can pick up divers at Belmar, and their boats at their other properties were apparently fully booked. We were understandably upset and contemplated turning around and going home (to California), and having our money refunded. But Stephanie, the manager at Belmar, assured us that she would work this out and provide us what we booked. That is exactly what happened. Stephanie and her staff arranged for us to have Buddy Dive’s small boat all to ourselves all five days (they picked us up every morning at Belmar, set up our gear, guided our dives, provided towels, beverages and snacks, rinsed our gear, and stored it at Belmar). We would like to thank not only Stephanie, but the dive professionals at Buddy Dive who made this happen and made our trip so enjoyable: Richard, William, Flavia, and Vanessa. We had a great time and we truly appreciate the extraordinary customer service Belmar and Buddy Dive provided for our small group. Although Bonaire is primarily a shore diving location and that is what most divers who visit Bonaire want to do, Belmar’s valet diving service is a great alternative to shore diving and we urge anyone who hasn’t tried it, and isn’t on a strict budget, to give it a try.
