Definitely Not a 5-Star Experience

Jan 5th, 2020

We chose this hotel because of its reputation & central location. However, our room was in a building 1/3 of a mile away. The streets are very hilly, with very narrow treacherous sidewalks (my wife stumbled and scraped her hand). The hotel offers a free shuttle service on demand, but wait times varied and this was also far from convenient. The hotel has a beautiful heated pool that we never got to use because of our location. There are two restaurants, however, neither public space is heated. The temperatures in the morning in San Miguel were in the upper 40’s. Consequently, we wound up having to eat breakfast wearing multiple layers, while the staff were provided with very nice woolen coats. The hotel promotes a cooking class, but when we stopped at the concierge’s, we were told that the chef was out of town and no classes were available. We asked about other cooking classes and were told that we would pay $2,000. It took me less than ten minutes to find a top-rated cooking school which offered a 5-hour shopping and cooking experience for $133 per person. Finally, on our last day we had arranged for our driver to pick us up at our location at 9 am for the trip to the airport. When we arrived for breakfast at 8 am no one was there. We discovered that they had closed the restaurant without telling us. We then had to rush to up to the main location, rush through our breakfast, and rush to get back, worried all the time that we would make it on time. The Casa de Sierra Nevada is a beautiful property and the staff will definitely go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. However, San Miguel has other perfectly nice lodging alternatives that cost less than 1/3 of the prices charged by this hotel. We definitely did not get our money’s worth. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Personell has a total lack of common sense

Dec 31st, 2019

Total lack of common sense. I am seven months pregnant and I needed a restroom, thinking the personnel of the hotel would have a minimum of empathy I went into the hotel to use their facilities. When I was leaving, one of the waiters was super rude and reprimanded me for using their restroom. I come to San Miguel often to visit family and will never again stay at this hotel or visit their bar even though I used to enjoy it. There many other great hotels in San Miguel with great service and kind personnel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well Done, Casa de Sierra Nevada

Dec 31st, 2019

After a bad start being assigned to a room next to one having a dog barking constantly, Mario found an upgrade for us that was fabulous!! Lovely atmosphere at the CSN, great walkable location. Good vibes. Good value. No disappointments here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A magical hotel in a magical city!

Dec 31st, 2019

We stayed at the Belmond last week and it was absolutely wonderful. The hotel and our rooms were beautiful; understated elegance in an authentic Mexican style. The staff was lovely and extremely accommodating. The hotel itself is in several buildings, hidden (like most buildings in San Miguel) behind gorgeous doors and courtyards. The location is perfect. Best trip we’ve taken

Dec 15th, 2019

The Belmond Casa Sierra Nevada was the best hotel we’ve stayed in! The entire staff was fantastic!!! When we arrived we were created by John and Joel who immediately make you feel at home during your trip. The food was wonderful, we had breakfast every morning next to the lavender field. We had thanksgiving dinner in a beautiful dining room and it was amazing. The bar tender Jonathon and Robert were such a pleasure to see daily. The bar is so quaint so we stopped in daily. The rooms are beyond fantastic we had a fireplace, double sinks in the bathroom and the most amazing yard. I cannot say enough about this hotel the service, the staff, food and it’s located in the perfect Spot of San Miguel. Cobblestone streets and every place they recommended was better than the next this is our go to travel spot and hotel we will stay in every time we’re at San Miguel thank you all for making us feel at home and having the best trip of our lives. ❤️ TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
