Old but comfortable

Jul 16th, 2019

The hotel is obviously old but the bed was comfortable and the staff was nice. My only complaint was noise. I didn’t sleep well because I could hear everything from outside. People were coming and going all night and I could hear it from the second floor. There was a lot of light that came through the door when it was closed and I’m sure it was the issue. If you aren’t a heavy sleeper bring ear plugs. Besides that the staff was very friendly and helpful even with it being very busy. The breakfast was good too. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

not worthy of the "Plus" brand

Jul 16th, 2019

We had a room in the Lakeview building for three nights. The staircase and room doors were dirty. The door to my room was so tight that the only way to close it was to slam it shut. The room had some awful weird odor. Even opening the windows to air it out didn't help. The chair was so dirty that no one would sit on it. I put a note on the chair for housekeeping to clean it, but when we returned to the room the next night we found that the room was not serviced at all. BW gives you the option to sign up to skip housekeeping service in exchange for reward points, but we had not signed up for that, so don't know why they missed cleaning our room the first day. The bathtub and wall was made of acrylic and squeaked with every move. The bathroom wall was so thin that I could hear every squeak that was made when the tub next door was in use. The shower water temperature was always fluctuating. The reasons I rate this hotel two stars instead of one is because the breakfast buffet food was fairly good (for this class of hotel), and service was efficient. Also, I like the long counter with two sinks that was outside of the tub/toilet room. The Bryce Canyon shuttle stops right outside the lobby so it is very convenient to stay here. RUDE treatment at checkin

Jul 16th, 2019

Very rude treatment at check in. We were insulted by staff and our request ignored. We were told we did not Know the system. It is a take it or leave it hotel. I would avoid staying here. Maybe other facilities in the area are better TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location but average rooms and no coffee for early risers

Jul 15th, 2019

We stayed just one night on our tour through several national parks. Rooms were OK but we couldn’t get coffee to go from the lobby or restaurant when we headed out at 7am. It’s hard to believe that we are the only people to want some! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Extremely rude desk staff and manager. Comparable to a High Priced Motel 6 with "down and out" rooms that are nasty!

Jul 14th, 2019

My elderly father did his appropriate research on this hotel's website and even called this hotel itself to confirm that all 4 of our rooms (that we reserved) opened to interior corridors instead of opening to the outside or the parking lot. He had booked these rooms over a year ago. Unfortunately, when we checked in on 7/2/19, after spending the day touring Bryce Canyon, we were greeted by Kat, a front desk clerk that barely spoke English. At first, my elderly father was told that they only had one room for the reservation when we had actually reserved 4 rooms total. Then Kat told us she had the 4 rooms but they were scattered all over different areas of the hotel. Kat finally got all 4 rooms together. We asked Kat several times if all 4 of the rooms opened to interior corridors and not to the outside parking lot. Kat said over and over again that they did open to interior corridors. Three different people in our group asked her three different ways, in case there was some sort of language barrier and she continued to tell us that they all 4 opened to interior corridors. After looking at the hotel map that Kat gave us, we asked for the manager because we knew the rooms were "down and out", which means they opened to the outside parking lot, not an interior corridor. When the manager, Inina (a shorter blonde lady) came out, she was immediately rude and condescending to my elderly father. She said it was his fault that he did not reserve the rooms in the tower (which is where the lobby exists) and that those were the only ones that opened to interior corridors. We told her over and over again that he did his appropriate research online and even called the hotel to make sure the 4 rooms we reserved opened to interior corridors. She continued to be extremely rude to my elderly father. I asked her what they could do for us, since we did all the right steps, but still got screwed out of 4 rooms that opened to interior corridors. She said that she couldn't do anything for us. Unfortunately, we were stuck staying in these 4 horrible "down and out" rooms. This is the 2nd time our large group has had an issue with a Best Western Hotel. All 4 families in our group have vowed to NEVER STAY IN ANOTHER BEST WESTERN HOTEL EVER AGAIN! Best Western's standards have gone way downhill. The front desk staff and that manager should be fired immediately for lying and being extremely rude to customers, especially elderly ones. We figured you would want to make a party of 12 people happy since we would be spending a lot of money at the hotel, due to the size of our group, but nope, the manager didn't care at all. When we walked a long way from the lobby to get to our rooms, which were in a totally different building, there was an inch gap at the bottom of each of the hotel rooms, and since they opened to the parking lot, we were afraid that critters or bugs would come into the room thru the gap, so we rolled up bath towels and stuck them at the bottom of the door while we were in the room. The toilet in our room backed up during normal use. We called the front desk immediately, and they sent the maintenance staff immediately. The maintenance staff were quick and efficient. They also told us that this happens all the time in the hotel due to the old plumbing. Something that the manager and staff should be looking into, instead of being rude to the customers. We all decided to eat dinner at Ruby's Inn Cowboy's Buffet, where we had the best waitress ever. Her name was Sandra. She really made our dinner special for the 12 of us. She really made our evening a lot better and calmed us all down after dealing with the incompetent front desk clerk and manager. Be thankful you have a wonderful waitress in Sandra. The younger adults and kids in our party decided to go swimming in the pool. They said the pool was so over chlorinated that they couldn't see the bottom of the pool. How nasty! The next day, we had complimentary breakfast at Ruby's Inn Cowboy's Buffet (as part of the stay) and we had a wonderful waiter named Cajun. Cajun was a great waiter for our party of 12 people.
