Great Family Fun!

Aug 5th, 2019

I purchased the Groupon and we stayed 1 night at the hotel.. With any Groupon getaway I temper my expectations. Big splash did not disappoint us. My kids are 4 and 7 and they both had a blast and could not get enough. We got there on Sunday around 11 knowing check-in was not till 5 but the staff told me when I booked that we could arrive before check-in and enjoy the water park. We got our bracelets for our stay and used their changing rooms to get in our suits and we were off to the waterpark that is connected via the 2nd floor of the hotel. There is a kids play area with lots of water features and 2 nice slides that are similar to the tube slides you'd find at a nice public or pay pool. There is also a large pool that has bball hoops and whirlpool and also has a mini ropes and floating pads course that the kids used over and over. There are a bunch of nice big body slides and tube slides as well as a nice long lazy river that you can go round and round on if you so desire. There is also a great little kids area that has a little water slide and swings. All of what I mentioned is inside along with plenty of chairs on the main area and chairs and tables in the upper area over looking the park. The whole area has a lot to offer and is big but doesn't feel huge as it takes no time to walk from one end to the other. There is also an outdoor pool area with 2 big pools 1 with a 0 entry and kids stuff. No pool is deeper than 3.5 to 4ft so there is NO jumping in or diving. Lifeguards patrol the areas but are a little thin in presence but not so bad, if you have young kids and they need supervision then you should be watching them an parenting anyway. Unfortunately there are ppl that just let their kids old and young do whatever so you have to watch for those kids that are inconsiderate and have no respect for rules. The park is a little older but not run down just wear here and there to be expected and the floors of the pools are concrete so they can be a bit abrasive to the skin. There are plenty of towels and lockers, we never used the lockers but they are there. The hotel room was adequate and clean nothing too special. Beds were comfy and AC was good. The breakfast buffet was very good as well not just a few things but a whole buffet with plenty of options. There are places to eat in the hotel we did not go to em but they are there (we went to Chicagos pizza across the street which was great and well priced.) We found the staff friendly and helpful we requested a late check out which they gave us with out any issue. The lobby does have a wet smell but that in my opinion is to be expected when it is connected to a water park and ppl walk around damp. There is also an arcade which my kids enjoyed as well. The surrounding town is nice and has all you need within a few min. There is also a putt putt place at the bottom of the hill with indoor putt putt or outdoor as well as lazer tag which we enjoyed thanks to our Groupon. Both my kids thanked us profusely and said it was the best trip ever and we as parents enjoyed it as well. We will definitely be back and I definitely reccomended Big Splash for a family weekend or even a day.. FYI if you are staying at the hotel you get access 2 hours before and after the day pass ppl arrive which they are allowed 11-7 even during peak times lines were not long and it did not feel packed. Weekend Family Getaway

Jul 29th, 2019

Came here for the weekend with my family. We didn't arrive until a little later in the day so check-in was a breeze, and check-out was quick and easy. They need more than 2 elevators though, it gets pretty busy during check in and out times and getting to amd from your room especially with a luggage cart gets really hectic. My suggestion to avoid the rush is don't check in until after 5pm, and check out early before 10 if possible. The wristbands worked just fine, even after 3 days of water, sweat, wear and tear. The room was clean, the ac was dated and rather loud but did the job. We were on the second floor so it was kind of loud, if you want quiet the top floor opposite the water park or another hotel is your best bet. The best time to be in the water park is before and after the people with daypasses arrive or leave. Everyday in the park, the rules were different and different lifeguards enforced different things, they weren't consistent. The park was ok, good clean water, short lines, and plenty of clean towels were available for the water park. Its not holiday world, if you want holiday world go there, but for a weekend, especially doing it through Groupon was pretty good. The park does need some work, but our kid had a blast and thats what we came here for so we were satisfied. The arcade had several games that were broke down the entire time we were there but the working ones were fun. The breakfast buffet was ok, it just doesn't change much at all though, at least it didn't while we there. It was included with the room so it was fine for a few days, there is a Denny's and McDonald's down the road too if you need an alternative. Overall, 4 of 5 stars. We'll be back again. Needs to be cleaned

Jul 23rd, 2019

Water park was decent. The room was outdated and very dirty. We refused 1st room on 2nd floor because the bathroom was nasty. The paint from the ceiling was falling and there was trash left in hidden places from previous occupants. The outside of the resort is falling apart. The hotel restaurant was just as bad, our table was sticky, like from syrup. I found the place disgusting. While I would consider taking our children to the water park again, I will not stay at the hotel over again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Supposed to be fun

Jul 5th, 2019

We started with a tv in our bunk room that was broken from check in. We let the front desk know as we went about our day. When we return that evening we let them know about a pillow that we were also short or missing in the bunk room, and the clerk let us know that the maintenance guy couldn’t find anything wrong with the tv. I told him if I go up and that tv is not fixed I’m going to come in glued. He told to just dial “0” and he would come up. Guess what?! It didn’t work. It’s like this maintenance guy must have had something else better to do that afternoon because it was doing the same thing. The clerk noted it on our account and we spoke the the manager in the morning. I slipped and said damn and she said I couldn’t cus in a public place, sorry everybody. I told her we need to discuss this in private and not in public. We went to her office where she felt empowered and she started getting hostile with me. To a point where I told that now you are show aggression. She offered me and my family som pizza, cookies and some sodas for the inconvenience. I personally feel she owes me a credit on my bill for her employee lying about the tv and for her wanting to stick around and argue about it in a public forum like she did. It took my my and my quick whit thinking to try and defuse some of the situation. As soon as our backs we turned she and the rest of her staff were laughing and having a good old time at our expense. We will not be back at this park/hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Rude ass staff!!

Jun 7th, 2019

Everyone there that I encountered on my day pass with my son was rude. Guess I needed to pay $200 for the hotel to be treated like somebody. And yes I've stayed at the hotel and their is a bias. Day passes are treated like garbage. Sherri the supervisor in the Purple shirt was especially rude to me and my 5 year old son. Not acceptable! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
