Lavish, historical property with charming accommodations and excellent cuisine
Pricey room rates
In the small western Massachusetts town of Lenox, the Blantyre property rises elegantly from a green grass lawn. The property's Main House, cottages and Carriage House feature intricate moldings, magnificent fireplaces and rich colors on the walls. Accommodations are outfitted in unique decor (no two rooms look the same) and many include working fireplaces. Past guests said they felt like royalty during their stays: The service surpasses all expectations, the food is impressive, the spa offers luxurious treatments and the grounds are spread out for your own strolling pleasure. But buyers beware: This regal extravagance at this Relais & Châteaux-affiliated property doesn't come cheap. A daily resort fee of 10% of your room rate applies for all stays here.

Critic Reviews

Modeled after a castle in Scotland, this supremely elegant 1902 manor house sits amid nearly 117 acres of manicured lawns and woodlands.

Travel + Leisure

The house is full of such treasures — the regal heads of a Canadian caribou named Bob and an elk called James; portraits of 'the girls,' Brown's late, beloved wheaten terriers, dressed in full Elizabethan garb; a portrait of a 'Hoover granddaughter' leading a lamb. Brown, whose family has owned Blantyre for 32 years, is a curator of a certain magical, all-but-bygone era, and her passion is in preserving it.

Gilded Age charm abounds at this Tudor-style mansion in the Berkshire Mountains.

Taking their lead from the 'caring owner,' perfect-scoring 'staff are always exceptionally warm.' The main dining room offers a country-house dinner menu with French influences, accompanied by live piano music.
