Loved it (but plastic pool liner needs to go)

Jan 2nd, 2020

My husband and I spent a 3-day weekend here in mid-August. We splurged for the standalone cabana and it was lovely. The room was bright, clean and spacious with cute furnishings and a pretty bathroom - nice white subway and penny tile, full-size fridge and two-burner stove in kitchen. We had our own private deck with an ocean view. One complaint with the room was no place whatsoever to hang towels in the bathroom, no hooks, no towel bar, basically had to sling our wet bath towels over the glass shower wall or over the kitchen chairs. I’m always puzzled by hotels that don’t put hooks in bathrooms. In the main room, no closet, just a few hooks and about 3 hangers to hang clothes on the hooks. There was a three-drawer bureau. The grounds were nice and the cafe was cute and we had a delicious egg sandwich for breakfast and enjoyed a burger by the pool at lunch. Good frozen drinks like Pina colada from the bar. Nice to be able to walk over early morning for coffee. When we were there we had a nice guy serving by the pool (sorry, forgot his name). The setting by the pool was nice out plenty of comfortable seat g and towels available. My one big complaint with Breakers is they clearly invested in fixing the place up but why did they put that cheesy plastic liner in the pool instead of a proper refurbishing of the pool? The liner feels squishy and icky and i had no desire t swim in the pool because of it. The pool seemed clean. I hope the owners are just considering the plastic a temporary fix. One other suggestion - in Oder to get to our cottage we had no choice but to walk on grass. Some parts of the resort had stone walkway but not to our location. Not pleasant when you’re in shoes and the grass was wet, and one morning there were some sort of animal droppings (deer?) in the grass which we fortunately spotted before we had an accident. Overall despite these shortcomings I would go back - just please do something about the pool!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I have a reservation this weekend and have been trying for 2 days to get in contact with someone via phone and email, all hours of the day. No one has responded and at this point I am questioning whether this place is even open and I should bother driving a couple hours out there or just calling Amex. This is my last ditch effort to try and get in touch with this establishment! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Zero service because literally no one other than the cleaning lady was around during our entire stay. We received a text about which unit to check into and that was it. Cafe was closed, front office was abandoned. This is like an Airbnb rental with the bare amenities. The website makes this place look so much more appealing than what it is. Not sure how to even access the pool (and definitely no poolside service), no TV, no microwave (we booked a studio with kitchenette), no curtains to keep the bright sun out in the mornings (even with all the shades drawn). It's like a wannabe Ace Hotel without the hotel part. "Direct" beach access means walking across the street and about 60 feet out onto the beach, which is fine but again the pictures and description combined are a bit deceiving.. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. The room was clean, bright and the decor was tasteful. The leesa mattress was a huge plus! We enjoyed lunch while laying poolside and the beach is right across the street!! The beach is very private and perfect for anyone looking for some piece and quiet. Careful if you have children because there is no lifeguard on this part of the beach. The cafe closes a bit early at 7pm but it was nice not having noise on property late into the evening. Will be coming back to stay again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The place is a dump

It's old and tired. The help is nasty and the locals hang out at the bar and complain about all the guests. This place need a makeover of both the facility and the staff. I will not be going back. There are many better choices in Montauk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
