Freezing room

Mar 6th, 2020

the room which I think is called the garden room at basement level at the rear of the property is baltic and really not habitable . Unless the heating has been on for hours before you arrive. even with the electric heater plugged in just as.i came and the air con it was so cold I had to leave on full for the night . really uncomfortable night. This is hard to review but going on I had to visit Dublin at short notice so didn't have time to review prior but having since left, looking at past reviews I think it's fair to mention the below. The positive: Staff really nice Great location Reasonable value Really comfortable bed Generally felt clean The bad stuff The room was freezing. 10.5 degrees according to my phone. No central heating so it took hours to warm up There's damp and it smells The bathroom.... There's a curtain on the door which is supposed to be white but looks like it's never been washed. Near the door handle it's so dirty it's brown. That is gross because that's from dirty hands. There's mould everywhere The cold tap wasn't fitted right The shower fluctuated from hot to cold and let me tell you, when the room is that cold you want a hot shower, not one that you have to jump around in. Great stay

Feb 13th, 2020

Beautiful house and lovely quiet room, all very clean. The bed was very comfortable, we slept all the way through, could hardly wake up in time for the breakfast. Which was delicious! Great choice of foods, freshly cooked hot breakfast and a plentiful buffet table. The staff were absolutely great, really helpful with directions and recommended a great restaurant nearby. Will stay there again with no hesitation. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Close to RDS

Stayed at Butlers Townhouse as it was close to an event I was attending over the weekend and the price was brilliant! Upon arrival I first noticed that the exterior of the property looked tired and in need of a good lick of paint. There are steps to walk up to the door, then steps down to reception. Check-in was good, we were met by a very pleasant young lady who personally took us to our room which was on the top floor - more stairs, this accommodation wouldn’t be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The twin room was clean although the dressing table was repainted over and over and had dents in it so it definitely needs replacing. The bathroom had obviously been recently redecorated and was in keeping with the period of the townhouse, although it was freezing - their didn’t appear to be any form of heating in the bathroom. There was no hand rail to hold onto when getting out of the shower which could easily cause an accident. The twin room beds were very comfortable and my companion and I would have had an even a better nights sleep if it wasn’t for the the noise of the wind all night. Unfortunately our TV wouldn’t work and a young member of staff came to retune it and it still didn’t work so no TV which was disappointing. The highlight of Butlers Townhouse is their breakfast! It was amazing, it was freshly cooked, tasted great and there was an excellent choice and even had a great vegetarian option. The staff are all very young but they were very professional and did a great job. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Butlers Townhouse was only an OK stay for us. Our room when we entered was freezing as it is an old building. Thankfully the staff resolved this and there was a heater in our room when we returned later. However we didn't realize our bedroom was next to a bathroom and unfortunately we were woken early from the sound of people coming and going. Not ideal when you are on a night away. Location is good, staff were friendly but not somewhere I would return to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
