Stunning hotel, ok service

Aug 28th, 2020

We stayed for 2 nights in August and found the hotel simply stunning. You must arrive by private water taxi for the full experience! The chap at the front desk looked a bit grumpy but he was very efficient and welcoming. The 2 rooms we had overlooking the Grand Canal were stunning - works of art. OK a balcony would have been just perfect as there was a lot of leaning out of the window, but it's a medieval palace so I guess you can't just slap a balcony on it. We had drinks in the canal-side bar on the first evening and that was just wonderful; pricey as you would expect but the service was lovely and the setting magical. Breakfast on day 2 was a complete disaster though - see the 2-star rating elsewhere for details. Needless to say we were shocked how bad it was in a 5-star very pricey hotel; but to be fair they fixed it for the following day and it was excellent. The pigeons were a real problem though and they need to address it as it made some customers very uncomfortable. Dinner in the restaurant on Day 2 was again magical. Great location too, as it's a 10 min signposted walk to the Rialto Bridge, and another 5 mins to St Marks. Lovely route to just amble. Definately recommend this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really disappointing stay - worst breakfast I've ever had

Aug 27th, 2020

We just stayed one night during the Covid crisis in August. We were greeted warmly by the desk manager who helped us to our room - we were quite surprised that he seemed to be doing all the work, and also that he was not wearing a face mask. We explored the hotel and although the piano nobile rooms were fabulous we were disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed during the week owing to lack of staff. We had a drink at the canalside bar and were concerned by both the presence of the feral pigeons and the lack of a facemask on the waiter. Back in the room found the lavatory seat was loose and the TV didn't work but couldn't find anyone at the desk to report it to until the next day. Breakfast was a disaster. Two staff and seemingly nobody in the kitchen. Waited 10 minutes without acknowledgement then sat down at and empty table. 10 more minutes and we managed to order a cappuccino. No offer of food. the people at the next table left in anger at the lack of service but left a plate of meat on their table. This was when the pigeons attacked. About 10, and then a seagull. Meat and bread splashed about the terrace. Crockery went flying. I grabbed the remnants and ran them into the kitchen. Waiting staff looked panicked -but at least they were wearing face masks. Finally managed to get a boiled egg and some bread, but the buffet was down to a couple of plastic pots of yoghurt, an orange and some dried fruit. I hate to be critical at this difficult time, but the management of this hotel has some severe problems and seem to be trying to run a 5 star hotel on a shoestring TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Moderate Service in a very nice Building.

Aug 14th, 2020

The Ca‘Sagredo is one of the best hotels in Venice. The hotel is like a museum in an old 14th century palazzo. The room (we had the „low“ budget room) are big and have a nice, old fashioned interior. The breakfast terrace is located at Canale Grande. Very nice area! The roof top terrace gives a nice view over the Canale Grande (See photo). In sum a nice building. The building is nice the problem is the service in the hotel. All guests are waiting during breakfast for the waiter (by the way: the price for a breakfast is 60€!!!). There was only one waiter for all desks. We have to go away without a breakfast after a long waiting period. Ok. We had a water! Guests are complaining at the reception. No feedback from management. Another problem are the pigeons during breakfast time. They are flying over the nice terrace and looking for food (not healthy situation, see photo). Some guests are helping the waiter to cleanup the desks. Really! In a five star hotel!!!!!. One tip for your stopover: If you plan to stay in the Ca’Sagredo *****s don’t forget your kitchen uniform to help the waiter and your pigeon net to prevent bird attacks during breakfast. ;-) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

2nd visit and will come back again

This is a great hotel located on the Grand Canal that has exceptional architecture and amazing service. My wife and I visited this hotel twice and this year we enjoyed San Valentine's dinner where beside amazing gastronomic experience we have a live performance of opera singer Rodrigo Trosino that sang famous Italian arias, spectacular experience!
