Exceptional Service from Jessica Gomez

Apr 4th, 2021

This hotel is known for their exceptional service starting even from the time they answer their phones so efficiently but it is a person who manages the front desk named Jessica Gomez who is so exceptional and a credit to the amazing team of management at Cabo Azul. It is not often that one is fortunate to have service always with a pleasant attitude and always trying her very best to make her guests as happy and as comfortable as possible. Cabo Azul is an excellent hotel but only thanks to excellent team leaders such as Jessica and her front desk team. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

You don't need to spend this much $ to have a great stay in San Jose!! Overrated

Mar 31st, 2021

We have been going to San Jose/Cabo for over 20 years. Obviously tourism is their industry so the service whereever we have been has been wonderful, it needs to be if people want to keep their jobs so Azul is not some unique experience with their service. I called the day before our arrival to find out if they had any complimentary upgrades to an ocean view room available since obviously travel is down. I was told no. I had a courtyard view room and she offered to see if they had anything available. She came back and said she found a room that would be much better than what we had and so I upgraded. Upon arrival I asked where our room was located. It was on the ground floor back in a corner of the hotel no where near an ocean view. This was an upgrade!! I must have been in the basement before and we were paying $500 a night!!! Their main floor rooms are very close to the walking paths so you have no privacy, so we spent most of our day/evenings with our curtain closed. With 35% capacity finding a place to sit outside was tough at 9:00 AM and they are not limiting the number of chairs during Covid. We spent time on the beach, by the pool and by the adult pool. Each day we had a pool person and wait staff come by once a day to see if we needed anything. So we didn't eat or drink much during the day, luckily we had brought bottled water. They had ONE restaurant open for the whole resort. Luckily with covid most people were ordering room service. Dont know how they will accomodate everyone once there are more visitors. The meals we did have were great and the service was as expected. Nothing over the top. What I did find interesting is that they sent me a survey on our second day wanting to make sure our stay was as expected and if it wasn't they wanted an ok to contact me. I replied that I wasn't happy (because of being lied to about an upgrade). They never called. They also sent a survey after and wanted to follow up. Again no contact. There are a lot of hotels in San Jose, the next time we will look for something less expensive and I am sure our experience will be just as wonderful and service as good. We have never been disappointed while staying in the Baja. You don't need to spend a fortune to have a great stay in San Jose or Cabo. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Why so little COVID protection offered?

Mar 30th, 2021

I have been a visitor to this resort since 2009. Obviously we love it or wouldn’t keep returning. However, after starting our trip 4 doors down at the H.Z. for several nights, I have to say the contrast in protocols being followed BY GUESTS is appalling. Very little mask wearing by guests, including in hallways, elevators etc. The resort isn’t helping by not offering masks in baskets like the H.Z. is doing. Very few temp checks or available hand sanitizer around. Only one step on shoe disinfection station. Night and day versus other similar quality resorts. I feel terrible for the staff as Mexico has been hard hit with this virus and the guests here are putting the workers at risk. Diamond needs to do more to protect them and enforce mask usage. Really disappointing and quite surprising. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Sunny days

Mar 20th, 2021

I like this place, but I was disappointed when our room wasn’t ready at 6pm upon checking in, especially since we were staying in the $1400 a night penthouse. They had trouble finding the reservation which I booked through Amex but eventually it was sorted out, we did miss a sunset dinner due to the delay. During the time we visited Javier’s my fave restaurant was closed but I’m sure Covid had an impact. I like that you can walk around and go to the other resorts close by. Service is always good. Great trip to Cabo Azul

Mar 20th, 2021

My daughter and I just returned from our 1st visit to Cabo Azul. Covid testing on site very easy. From valet, front desk, and pool service they were all great. Andres at the pool made sure we had anything we wanted. Mango margaritas were delicious! The rooms are nicely decorated. Be specific if you care about what kind of view you want. We loved that you could walk into town from the resort. Concierge helped us make dinner reservations. We loved Jazmins which was their recommendation! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
