Amazing aperitivo

Jul 18th, 2019

Possibly the most glamorous location in Costa Smeralda, offers a great aperitivo with a view on the bay and one of the best people watching you will ever have. My Bellini was just perfect and came with an extensive array of little tapas. Obviously expressive, but definitely worth it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Iconic Property in a Beautiful Setting

Jul 5th, 2019

We loved our stay at the Cala Di Volpe. The rooms are a classic style so coming from the St Regis in Rome which was renovated 2 months ago made our first impressions a little challenging. But once we got settled in it was lovely. The Staff is wonderful. The Breakfast buffet that was included in our stay was very nice too. The hotel is immaculate and well appointed. The Pool is a Big saltwater pool. The Pool attendants are very helpful and nice. The beach club is nice and beautiful. They are working on adding a restaurant at the beach. The food is quite expensive so we opted to go out for lunches and dinners and explore the island. Where we went to several great restaurants. The setting of the hotel is terrific and we will definitely be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A must for Bond fans.

Jul 1st, 2019

If you are a James Bond fan, this is a must. The Spy who loved me scenes in Sardinia were filmed here. Had lunch at the bar. Food and service were very good. The buffet for lunch although good at 220 Euro PP was a bit extravagant. CCs accepted. Only valet parking available. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Service, The Food, And The Setting

Jun 15th, 2019

I just spent six nights at this property with my significant other (part of a same-sex couple). I have wanted to visit Sardinia for a long time and had researched this property well in advance of booking it. The setting is beautiful, the property is immaculate, well manicured, and clearly catering to an affluent clientele. Because my partner has accrued points over the years, we paid a fair price for our room (they graciously upgraded us to a suite upon check-in). What made our stay, here, particularly noteworthy was how wonderful ALL the staff was with whom we interacted. From the lobby, to the restaurants, to the security folks around the property, each individual exuded warmth and pride in their role/property. You can tell folks genuinely enjoy their job which is nice to see. The food was absolutely delicious. I won't comment on the prices because folks have already commented on how pricey things are (listen, folks should do their research before booking a trip, and if you're looking to go to the Costa Smeralda, you can't expect to pay Myrtle Beach prices for anything). That said, I do have a few suggestions that I think would make this property a bit more "complete". There are no places to go to for a snack on the hotel property. The restaurant for breakfast and lunch has distinct hours for which they are open for each meal (and, btw for Americans like me, 1-3 is a bit late for lunch as is 8 - 10:30 for dinner; if you're interested in attracting Americans as well as Europeans, consider making lunch and dinner available even just one hour earlier). It would be great if there were even a Starbucks kind of place (but obviously NOT Starbucks) where one could go for, say a smoothie or a muffin to tide you over, OR in lieu of a big heavy meal (which both lunch and dinner is). I suppose the profit margin is way higher on folks paying for lunch or dinner, but having options is what makes a resort that much better. Also, I have heard that they will be opening a spa, soon. So far there is not one and I would have loved the option to book a massage. Last comment I will make is not about the property or staff, but more about the general area. In season, this is a playground for the VERY wealthy. There are copious gazillion dollar yachts moored everywhere, there is bling on everyone patronizing the hotel, and no shortage of guests with clear senses of entitlement. Again, no reflection on the property but on the clientele. If any of this would make you uncomfortable, I would caution your visiting this hotel and area. I was not aware of just how much of a magnet this area is for Russian Oligarchs etc, and had I known I'd feel like a pauper, I may have booked elsewhere. It was the staff here who made me feel welcome and treated me like a king. As a same-sex couple, I might not visit this area of Sardinia for my next visit, just to compare. The staff made us feel welcome, but we definitely stuck out. Also, you need to dress up at night, which kind of was annoying. It felt very "Love Boat" 1980. Thank you, Antonelli and Paolo for our wonderful attention at breakfast, lunch, and dinner! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Beautiful But Average

Jun 10th, 2019

We stayed here in June and we paid a lot for each night, but we decided to do it because we expected a lot for over $1,000 a night. The overall hotel is nice but not jaw-dropping nice. We enjoyed the nice gardens that surround the hotel. The pool is very big but simple. Rooms were an antique vibe. Breakfast, very average, had better at lower-end hotels. It was nice to take a short boat ride to the beach but the boat was very "eh" and old. The beach is nice and secluded but there are people trying to sell you things every five minutes, and I don't know why they have that if it is a private beach and all people want to do is relax. A man literally tapped me on the shoulder while I was half asleep in the sun to see if I wanted a fake Chanel purse. Room was basic, the bed was too small, old beds pushed together. And they say that they are designed by artists or something but to be honest they do not look like that at all, they kind of looks like a bad air b and b. And room service prices are very very high. And they overprice pasta so much it makes my stomach churn. C'mon it's Italy, its the cheapest thing they can make! Also, on the kid's menu, it is 14 euros for strawberry yogurt!!! Now that has to be the biggest scam! Also, they do not give you a bill for when you order drinks by the pool or room service, so you don't know if you are paying 15 or 70 euros for a glass of champagne. And our room was right by a housekeeping closet so all we heard was banging and doors opening all day. But besides the negatives, they stay was very nice and my husband and I had a great time, just not up to standards as I thought it would be for the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
