Where do I begin? OUTSTANDING service & overall experience

Nov 1st, 2019

I never ever write a review but I felt truly impacted by my stay at Calamigos that I felt the need to hop on the computer and type away! From the booking experience to the moment we drove away, the experience at this hotel was FLAWLESS. The service is top notch, the rooms are just beautiful with fantastic amenities included, and the extra touch that they give each and every guest feels powerful. I can't thank the front desk staff enough, VALENTINO our hospitality master for teaching us about wine and Sara the Resort Manager for making us feel special even after we left! THANK YOU and we cannot wait to return. <3 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Where Fairytale Meets Classic Comfort

Oct 26th, 2019

Enjoyed Three Nights and a Full Day at the Calamigos. The staff at both the Ranch and the Beach Club were impeccable, friendly, and made great food recommendations. Happening onto a carousel and Ferris wheel during my morning coffee walk was also a fun surprise. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely place in the mountains

Fabulous location, great service, superb rooms. I was here in July for a business meeting but wished I had been on holiday here. Great pool area, lovely restaurants and bars and really a great place away from town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A perfect Get Away

Oct 10th, 2019

From the moment you arrive at the Calamigos Ranch and the valet takes your vehicle, your retreat begins. Enter the lodge/bar/lounge you’re immediately welcomed by the friendly staff at the front desk. If you have kids (I did not) they present them with a small plush stuffed animal, I believe it’s a horse. The lounge offers a bar, complimentary tea and coffee is served here, a fireplace with comfy couch and chairs to relax around or read a book. The deck has chairs and fire pits as well as heaters if you prefer to sit outside. My room was warm, cozy, clean with a private patio and an outside shower. I had a comfortable king size bed with amazing sheets and comforter, marble tiled bathroom with a walk in shower with a rain shower head, separate tub, and “private” toilet room. Amazing. The room also had a couch, fireplace, small fridge, snacks to purchase, and bottled water. I also got complimentary bottle of wine, and it was very good. There are black out blinds which is awesome, especially if you are lacking sleep due to traveling, celebrating a wedding at one of there many wedding venues or some other occasion. I was there for an 80th Birthday party that was held on the lawn of the Malibu Cafe, so much fun. This place is a blast and definitely family orientated. They have the restaurant that serves good food and cocktails, above the lawn, but it’s the lawn that is so much fun for all. There are lawn games like oversized chess board, pool table, corn hole and others along with photo props. Kids and dogs are running around enjoying the nights sky as the adults watch and chit chat or run around with them. It is a delightful atmosphere. It’s almost like a backyard BBQ that you attend but don’t have to host. There is also a fireplace you can sit around, which is where our family landed at the end of the evening eating s’mores (you can get at the bar) and sharing stories. Back at the ranch you will enjoy a state of the art gym with hot towels, dry towels, filtered water machine to refill your water bottle, rowing, elliptical, tread mill Machines, and stationary bikes, weight machines, free weights, rollers, exercise balls and Mats. A pool outside of the gym for laps, and they offer exercise and yoga classes-in the room next to the gym. The spa is across from the gym as well, a must-do. I had a wonderful facial and a much needed massage. There is another pool with pool side service from the bar and restaurant. This place is cool, they have shaded cubbies under the trees with cushions to relax on for groups, or couples with a few tables near by, and on the lawn are single or double cover lounge chairs. Don’t forget to take a walk and enjoy the beauty of the ranch. I almost forgot to mention the shuttle that is available to take you to the Beach Club. The vistas are unbelievable, with good food and drinks and a chair awaiting your arrival on the sand. So much is offed at the Calamigo Ranch, it really is a marvelous get away. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Both managers were very unprofessional

Oct 7th, 2019

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at Calamigos. We booked a private cottage and the room was nice. Had few concerns with the room like running toilet that made a swoosh noise every few minutes. We called around midnight to the front desk and they said someone can come in the morning. So I turned off the water valve. That was just the start of bad service for us. Next afternoon we went to eat at the restaurant with outdoor bar. We got seated and nobody helped us. 10 minutes go by. Wait staff would just walk by us as if we were invisible. My wife got up and flagged down a bus boy to let him know we were waiting for server. He was nice and gave us water. But still nobody came. After about another 15 minutes and noticing other tables that came after us getting help we decided to get up and leave. At that moment a bartender came to take our order. She took our drink order and food order. She dropped of our drinks pretty quickly and they tasted great. After another 10 minutes a waiter comes by to take our food order. We said we already placed food order with bartender. He checks and comes back and said it wasn't put it and if he can have our order again. He wasn't sorry, he wasn't kind. Just whatever towards us. Food was just ok. After all the wait we wished we did get up and leave. Never came back there during our stay. The biggest problem was the two managers we dealt with. One was a man in his late 30s (i think). The other was a blonde female (young 30s I think). Just no help or customer service. Front desk receptionist were all kind and nice. But the male manager would butt in and make it unpleasant. Debbie downer attitude and said no to any request we had. All minor and reasonable request. The female manager was worse. We informed front desk during check in that we will be paying cash for our stay. They said we can pay at the end during check out. So morning of check out I find out they already charged my card for the full stay. I thought no problem, they can refund the card and take the cash. So we went to front desk and the female manager basically said no. She didn't know how to do it. She didn't want to figure it out. She said they don't have any change either. I said I will go somewhere and to get the exact amount. But she had NO INTEREST in helping us. She was just unpleasant. If she was nice and said I don't know how it would have been ok with me. But she was just mean. Never will we go to this place again! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
