The perfect luxury family experience in Napa Valley!

Jul 6th, 2020

I recently stayed at Calistoga Ranch with my wife and 3 boys ages 11,10 and 7. We all enjoyed the private setting and the boys particularly enjoyed the kids pool, boccie ball and hiking trails. As may be obvious, my wife and I were wanting to come to Napa for the excellent wine but also wanted some time to unplug with our family. Calistoga was the perfect choice for a quick night away with fun for both adults and kids. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Difficult time, as good as it gets

Jul 3rd, 2020

First of all, if you are not desperate for a vacation, it’s best not to travel. That said, if you really need a break, Calistoga Ranch is as good as it gets. The resort is self sufficient, you do not need to leave the property to get a good meal (the Lakehouse), picnic (in the mini vineyard), hike (the joy trail, hope trail, love trail and Davis Estate trail), spa treatment, cold pool or hot spa. The landscape is just as beautiful as it has always been All staff work really hard to satisfy the guests. Valet is now optional, which is very considerate. You can handle your own vehicle if you prefer (used to be mandatory valet). Front desk serves one guest each time. All staff wear masks on property. Tips: 1. If you have a spa at home, you may just bring some spa chemicals for peace of mind. We have the creek spa lodge. We asked housekeeping to send extra chlorinating cleansing tablets or granules just as an extra precaution.. 2. Remember to close your doors (main room and living room) at all time. The resort is in the wilderness after all. Insects and small animals can get in if doors are left open (which is not pleasant). 3. Outdoor dining seats can be tough to get, the concierge can help a LOT. They were able to get us seats we were not able to book on our own We only ate at restaurants with outdoor seating. All requires reservation. We tried the following: Restaurants (with outdoor seating) The Lakehouse: convenient, on property The pool terrace: good bites for lunch, on property Auberge du Soleil: nice patio overlooking the valley, beautiful sunset view Charter Oak: shady courtyard, romantic dinner setting. Food was ok Farmstead: good outdoor seating for lunch Press Restaurant: food is among the best, not much view in the outdoor seating area, a bit cramped. Come for food not for view Brix Restaurant: the best view for lunch or dinner, vineyard setting, gorgeous setting, you can walk around in the vineyard while waiting for food. Food was good too Bakery and markets: There is a Bella Café in downtown Calistoga. We grabbed morning pastries there sometime. Do come early. By 9am everything was almost gone. The Cal Mart in town is convenient if you forget anything Things to do: Spa treatment: they will block 90min or 3h for private use of the entire spa. Highly recommend. Do book in advance Hiking on property: Love Trail is a bit steep on the top compared to others The vineyard by the side door of the pool has a petting zoo and 2 sets of picnic tables Reverie wine tasting tour is amazing. Concierge Berline booked the tour for us. Private group only, Daniel the manager took us in his ATV to the top of the hill, tasting our wine while enjoying the amazing valley view. Bothe-Napa State Park is only 10min from the resort, the park has beautiful, shaded trail along the creek. It’s not Yosemite but pretty amazing to see redwood forecast in Napa valley TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unbelievable respite in this time of uncertainty

Jul 2nd, 2020

We have stayed here many times, but came recently to get away from the city, now that the hotel has reopened. This magical property, it's staff & the very nature (pardon the pun, but it's all nature all the time) are a place of wonder of late, especially during these uncertain times. As properties in the region have shut down and been allowed to restart, this particular place has retained it's magical charms and integrity through the whole process. The staff try to make you as comfortable as they possibly can, while maintaining their genuine hospitable nature (there's that "nature" word again!). It has defined this place from the beginning of it's existence and it just keeps getting better. Safety protocols are evident; I watched team members spray down and disinfect a chaise "pod" in the pool area today. Everyone who works here models safe protocols. It is beautiful and peaceful; the landscape is calming and restorative. The pool is pristine and seems to be plucked from a travel magazine (but it's real!). I hiked to Davis Estates for a wine tasting earlier and there's nothing quite like hiking an hour and then picking up wine to make you feel whole. We ordered room service a couple of times and I would highly suggest the strawberry salad or the club sandwich. The Lakehouse Restaurant continues to offer cuisine in a beautiful setting - obviously next to the lake and a couple of great hiking trails. This hotel is a wonder but it's the staff that make it a treasure. Shout out to management and bell staff and housekeeping and restaurant staff and pool staff and spa staff...You get the idea. Not Ready

Jun 25th, 2020

I have stayed at the Calistoga Ranch many times and always enjoyed it with the exception of my last visit this weekend. I will not go into details because this is a difficult time for everyone but I wouldn’t recommend going there for another few months. The staff is not organized to take care of guests, the rooms are not really up to par, and the overall treatment I received was disappointing in terms of what one pays for a night there. I think it’s going to take them a few more months until they’re ready to handle visitors the way they used to. There were also quite a few times that I saw staff members not wearing masks in public areas. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A stellar team and experience!

Jun 14th, 2020

Aside from the breath taking views and luxurious privacy the ranch has to offer, the hospitality team and safety/sanitation practices at Calistoga are unbeatable! The team took extra measures to ensure that my team and our guests felt safe and protected during the times of Covid-19. All facilities, especially the dining/bar areas and bathrooms, were spotless and stocked with sanitizers so I felt safe touching things. I didn’t have to doubt anything I’d do or touch there. The extra care this ranch took made all the difference 🙌🏽 A huge thank you goes to the Calistoga Ranch team for making me feel safe! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
