Architectutral gem, superb location

May 16th, 2019

I had not visited the hotel in 20 years and it was still as I remembered it. It is getting a bit old, indeed, but the architecture and the colors are superb. The rooms are spacious, service is excellent, friendly and efficient. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unwelcoming and unfriendly hotel

May 7th, 2019

I normally wait until I finish my stay to rate, but this time couldn't do it. I'm still at the hotel while writing this review. I'm here with other 4 people from my company, giving this place a 1st try. Our rate includes their buffet breakfast, which is fantastic. Quality and variety of food is impecable. 5 stars here. Location is rather good in the Polanco area. Now, if you or your guests use a wheelchair or stroller, you are literally doomed in this place. The key words is STAIRS! With no elevator nor ramp to take you to the different floors and sub-floors. The room I got has the smallest window I have ever gotten in a room, so it is dark. Depressing. I'm in the 4th floor, in a dark depressing room while on business. You can see the pictures I posted for the stairs all around and the room with a huge curtain covering a small window. But for me this was the killer: Before going out for my morning squash game @ 6:30am, passed by the restaurant, identified myself and asked for a banana. They told me to pay for it. I replied that already did, since my rate includes buffet breakfast. They said that would count as my full breakfast then. Getting nowhere with the captain at the restaurant, went to the manager at the lobby, Mr. Irving. Explained my desire to eat a banana before exercise and that would have my breakfast afterwards. He also denied me the fruit, since it was "against hotel policy". Not sure why these guys act weird when it comes to bananas nor why this attitude towards a small indulgence from a Guest! In my book, this is a no-no. Last time here for me. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel for conferences

Apr 29th, 2019

Held a business conference at the hotel. They were bey accommodating at increasing the room size to another room when our attendance list increased beyond the agreed contract. The rooms were ok. Confusing to find your way aroud the hotel. Staff very friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A seriously strange hotel

Apr 5th, 2019

this must be the strangest hotel I have visited in the past few years and I travel a lot. It looks and feels incredibly unwelcoming, sort of like several boxes were put together to form a hotel. it takes forever to get to your room - through many dark corridors. Rooms are spacious but worn down - the purple carpet doesn't help. the swimming pool looks nothing like on the internet and there is no shower. The staff is very friendly, especially in La Huerta but the place looks like what you would expect in a cheap hotel. The hotel is completely overpriced for what it offers. I was supposed to stay 2 nights, but left after 1. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Escape room

With the exception of noisy wooden walls, this hotel is a very good value for money. Excellent breakfast buffet, enormous selection of fruits and juices. The hotel is huge, feeling like being inside an octopus and its tentacles. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
