Comfort, peace and kindness, cocooned by the Can Bordoy Family

Oct 20th, 2020

Having booked a BA holiday to Can Bordoy in July when we were encouraged to travel again, we decided, despite current Government warnings, to travel to this beautiful hotel, located right in the heart of the Old Town in this beautiful city. We’ve not felt safer since March and loved every second of sharing the warmth which pervades throughout every corner of this very special hotel. Yes, the design is spectacular and the building, its architecture and its renovation a feast for the eyes, but the overwhelming joy of our stay is retained by the care and kindness of everyone within its doors. I can’t remember everyone’s names nor the spelling, and please forgive me for that, but Joelle and Alex on reception - nothing was too much trouble, Sergio too, Laura with the beautiful nails and always a smile delivering our first welcome drink in the garden and all those special and, my goodness it will keep you going all day, breakfasts on the gentle terrace, Daniel, Ris and Angie always ready with suggestions of some very interesting Mallorcan wines - no, they didn’t suggest wines at the top of the price list, but well-priced and good local wines, and the kind and unexpected Mr. and Mrs. Smith addition to the holiday benefits gave us the first introduction to Palma gin and Soller orange cocktails. We had to try more and both the short and long variations were addictive! We had booked half board and were not disappointed. Having stayed for four nights this was fine, but could have become a little repetitive for longer. On the other hand, everyone was so incredibly helpful, I’m certain the chef would have suggested something different should we have needed to ask - he used his skills to the full to provide each fascinatingly clever, considered plate with beautiful ingredients and every taste was interesting, unusual and a delight. I love cooking, so appreciated his care even more - thank you! I cannot miss a mention for Joanna, who is in charge of the very special Spa, dug out below the hotel and finished so beautifully, while also showing the original stone foundations - as soon as you enter the mix of cedar and other wonderful additions immediately calms the spirits. Mr. and Mrs. Smith had included a 35 minute massage each - Joanna waved her magic to such an extent I went back for a Swiss Perfection facial - a huge extravagance, and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world - I was floating on the bed - the delightful Joanna is worth her weight in gold. My husband is 89 and slow to get around, so to be able to have gentle walks round the Old Town then return to everyone’s kindness made the perfect holiday. There was a family with five beautifully behaved children one morning at breakfast, so this hotel seems the perfect choice at any age, although I definitely wouldn't think it's setting out to be a family hotel! To have chosen such a beautiful building in a perfect location, refurbished to this high level is one thing to congratulate and celebrate (I know as I design and project management building works), but then to choose - although we didn’t meet her, we heard Monica chooses the staff and, my goodness, she’s good at her job! - such special staff, at every level, sets this hotel apart from so many others - the care comes from the heart. It was the best choice, after months of lockdown, that we could have made, to chase a little freedom and enjoy Can Bordoy’s care. We totally got used to wearing masks in public in a very short time and we felt it made people far more conscious of caring for others, and only wish the same rule applied here in England. We felt honoured and lucky to spend time at Can Bordoy, we thank them all for a really happy few days and very much hope we will be able to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Would give it 6 stars if I could

I recently took my wife & infant daughter to visit the Baleares, and in Mallorca I decided to book a suite at the Can Bordoy because I liked that it was geared towards sustainability (lodging and food wise), and had some pretty impressive (and unique) decor (my wife is a big fan of small and unique boutique hotels). We stayed five nights, and I do have to say how incredibly pleasant it was to stay at this hotel. We stayed in their Grand Suite, which was like a work of art (my personal favourite was their incredibly unique mini bar). My wife was impressed by the decor (this takes some doing as she has travelled extensively and been to many high end boutique hotels around rhe world) Between their restaurant Botanic (excellent), concierge service (also excellent), and their pool area (very rare to find a hotel in the old town that has a pool & garden of this size), we could not help but feel immensely relaxed. The team at the hotel were also very helpful when it came to the needs of our infant daughter as well, which was very much appreciated by us. All in all, our 5 day stay was incredibly pleasant and we would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Mallorca, and want to enjoy a small & stylish boutique hotel who also values sustainability. Enchanting

Sep 11th, 2020

We have never stayed here but have had lunch and dinner on many occasions. On our most recent trip we were in for lunch with a friend who lives in Palma and had a great time. The regular barman served up brilliant cocktails and the food was excellent. For our second visit later that week our delightful server wasn't experienced enough to make the margarita and maybe the more experienced bar person wasn't on duty, but my gin and tonic was great as was the cava for my wife - and the charming service more than made up for the missing margarita! Don't go here for a quick in-and-out drink or plate of tapas - it's a location to take your time and relax. The garden where we had lunch is perhaps one of the nicest of its type in Palma and I doubt you will find a more peaceful, tranquil spot anywhere. Lunch on this visit did not disappoint. We went off the lunch menu and ordered a couple of dishes from the dinner menu - with no hassle, all done with a smile. We simply relaxed for a couple of hours over a leisurely lunch and very fine it was too. Menu choices, service, ambience - all fabulous. Staff tip-top. We'll be back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing experience every time.

Can Bordoy continues to impress every visit. Meals in the back garden, the largest in Palma, are a transporting event. The food has never failed to delight and the service is always spot on. From the moment you arrive through a gorgeous courtyard you are greeted with cheerfulness and are made to feel welcome. An amazing hotel that also welcomes everyone to stay the night, have an amazing meal, or just to enjoy a cocktail or glass of cava surrounded by friendly luxury in the heart of old town Palma. Overnight stay

A wonderful boutique hotel in central Palma. We went to one of their events, won a prize at the charity casino, and stayed for a night. Excellent atmosphere with wonderful staff, it’s a little gem. The back garden is perfect for breakfast even for a walk in. Highly recommended, they’ve done a great job resurrecting the old house. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
