WHAT A VIEW!

This boutique hotel was beyond exceptional! From the details in the decor, the personalized service, the warmth in the atmosphere was nothing but remarkable. My husband and I left wishing we could have stayed longer. We enjoyed our stay, left feeling lavish, and light as a feather! The hotel manager George was professional yet made us feel like family! Thank you Team Canaves Oia. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Worst ever "luxury" experience!!!

I stayed at Canaves Oia Suites with my wife and our expectations were high. When we saw our first room, I almost started to cry. Our bedroom was under ground and when lying in the bed, we were facing a glass roof (=1st floors floor) and looking at a bottom of a sofa: ) Everything was shabby, painting was sloppy. In our bathroom even the water pipes (you know those red and blue ones) were visible. Next morning we were able to change the room. It was a bit better, but what comes to condition of the hotel and the rooms.... I have to say that one word describes everything: Careless. All the renovation, painting, installing lamps to the walls, is just careless. How can you charge 1500€ for one night if you cant afford a painter who can paint a baseboard without painting the floor at the same time. The next morning I noticed that there are no fire alarms in the rooms, I mentioned this to the reception and the answer was: "We have different system". I asked politely that what might this system be? The receptionist made a phone call and told the answer: We have a fire extinguisher in the room. That must be useful, when you suffocated to fire gases during your sleep: ) One thing about the pools: from our room, the access to the pool was through window: ) And majority of the "private" pools are VERY visible to other rooms and to hotel pathways. Three positive things: hotel staff was really nice, view was great and dining in the other hotel (which is part of this same hotel group, and was much, much better that ours) was a really great experience. I have travelled in all the continents for over 20 yrs and stayed in the most luxurious hotels and resorts as well as backpacking with low budget but this hotel had the worst cost vs quality ratio. My husband and I stayed here for a few nights and absolutely loved it! The location is fantastic, the hotel is comfortable and clean, and every detail is attended to. The view cannot be beat! The manager, George, went above and beyond for us during our stay. The food was delicious and the staff is incredible! We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a wonderful vacation! Spectacular Views and Lovely Rooms
Dec 10th, 2019
We recently stayed in the Honeymoon Suite at Canaves Oia Suites for 2 nights. The hotel is ideally located near shops, restaurants, and attractions. The honeymoon suite was spacious, comfortable, and above all, beautiful with awe-inspiring views. Our room was clean and well appointed. The staff was friendly and helpful (one exception noted later). The breakfast buffet was wonderful! Large selection of high quality foods, presented beautifully. And the view! I could have sat there all day. We also ordered lunch at one of the pool-side cabanas one day and it was delicious! It exceeded our expectations for pool-side food. We have only two areas of improvement to suggest: 1. There are three enclosed pool cabanas. The fan in ours was broken, and therefore the cabana was very warm. The staff seemed to know about the malfunction but were entirely unconcerned with having it fixed. I would think a hotel of this caliber would pay attention to details such as these. 2. The infinity pool sign states the pool closes at 7pm. At 6pm, a staff person told us the pool would be closing because they had to prepare the terrace for dinner. I asked about the 7pm close time posted and he said we could remain in the pool until 6:30. We were fine with that because we just wanted to watch the sunset before heading to our room. At 6:10, he started carrying chairs/umbrellas/cushions right over us as we sat at the edge of the pool. He ruined the beautiful ambiance and made us feel very uncomfortable. I don't think this behavior was appropriate. All in all, though, it's a lovely hotel and I wouldn't hesitate to return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Mostly great but some serious hiccups
Nov 9th, 2019
We stayed for 4 nights and overall enjoyed the stay. It's expensive and at this price point, I'd expect perfection but got only "very good." When we checked in, they did offer us an upgrade and showed us to a room. There were just 2 of us but they wanted to give us a 2 bed room suite which sounds good but there was 0 view and the hot tub looked really old and cramp. It was not at all what I imagined my experience was going to be. That large family size room felt like something they were trying to pawn off on us but maybe someone who was in a big group would value it. We actually had to ask to be downgraded which they did accommodate and the smaller room felt newer, and had way more sunlight. The new junior room suite was beautifully designed white and felt luxurious. I did notice the Nespresso machine doesn't get cleaned. In fact there was a bug in my water going into the machine that I only noticed after drinking the espresso. So that was the other big disappointment of the stay. Otherwise, the breakfast was fantastic and the view is really unbeatable. The service of the food staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I couldn't ask for better wait staff on property.
