Wonderfully relaxing getaway
Oct 24th, 2020
My husband and I spent 3 nights at Canoe Bay in one of the Dream cottages. The cottage was beautiful - great views of the lake, luxurious, comfortable and clean. All the staff interactions were via text, and they were responsive and helpful. We felt very safe in this COVID world as we rarely saw a soul. What kept this from being a 5 star review was the food. The fixed price dinner of $48/person cost as much as the fanciest Chicago restaurants’ special “to go” multi-course meals. The quality of the meals are average -other than the bread, which was excellent. The honey butter was good too. Breakfast prices were a la carte; portions were small for the price. Because all the food has to be delivered, they all arrive lukewarm. But overall, the accommodations more than outweighed the food. The grounds were beautiful. Many trails to walk on. We will definitely go back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Mini Moon Disappointment
Oct 17th, 2020
We stayed at Canoe Bay for our mini moon in June 2020. After the many adjustments made to our wedding we were able to make it happen admits a global pandemic. We were lucky enough to be able to escape to Canoe Bay for a two night mini moon and really looking forward to it after the many amazing reviews from family and friends. Sadly we didn’t have the same experience. We didn’t expect much because of the many covid precautions that were in place but hoped our honeymoon would be at least be acknowledged. We were able to relax post wedding but were sad that the same service our friends and family received for anniversaries or other special occasions wasn’t the same. For the price of the stay and food we wish our mini would have at least been acknowledged. We’ll be booking an Airbnb for our anniversary next year! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We spent the weekend in the Hillside cottage with an incredible view of the lake. We needed a bit of peace and quiet and Canoe Bay certainly delivered. We enjoyed New York strip steaks the night of our arrival with the most phenomenal cheesecake for dessert. An hour before dinner was delivered to our door we added a bottle of wine that showed up in 15 minutes. The service was impeccable. Breakfast delivered to your door can't be beat and the granola was delicious. On night 2 we went into town for pizza but ordered the cheesecake at the last minute for dessert and it showed up minutes later. It was divine. Everything was so clean. Sometimes an up north cabin in Wisconsin will be clean on the inside but outside is covered in cob webs and spiders. This was immaculate on both the inside and outside. They pay close attention to detail here and it shows. We walked the trails, sat on the porch and gazed at the moon over the lake and just enjoyed the solitude. We only saw one other couple on a hike the entire weekend. It was so peaceful. Great linens, comfy couches and a bathroom with heated floors and double shower heads. There was also a whirlpool tub for 2. I have read reviews about WIFI issues, we had none, but it would have been ok if we did, we were there for the solitude. I didn't want to leave it was just so relaxing and quiet. No dogs barking, no kids screaming just leaves falling. I left feeling well rested and pampered. I wish yogurt and homemade granola could be delivered to my door every morning. I can't wait to come back when the inn, lodge and reception are open (closed due to COVID) to see the details there as well. That said, I didn't feel like anything was missing and we agreed eating dinner alone in our cabin may have been better than going to the inn. We needed the alone time. We had a wonderful weekend, one of the most relaxing I can recall. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
go when not covid
Sep 27th, 2020
We were there 3 nites and the dinner menu was exactly the same for the 3 nites - and they only offered 3 main entrees. Same 2 desserts, same few sides. Not acceptable. Talked to a friend who was there a month later and same story - so it is not a ont-time food delivery issue. When we complained via text - they sent a list of area restaurants to go. They schedule a delivery time for you food, and they were way off on the timing 2 nites. So they may tell you tonight your dinner is scheduled at 730 - but then they add it may arrive anywhere between 7 and 8pm. I get it, but how about letting me know when it is going to show up at 830pm and that you running late? Or I request 730 pm for dinner and you give me the 530 time slot? So I have to be back and ready to receive dinner at 5pm. I get Covid issue and their dining lodge is closed, but their dining lodge normally offers more than 3 main course and its not delivered in styrofoam containers. Oh, and I have to clean my own silverware. This was late August, they should have had this figured out by then. Food quality was good. Ordered same breakfast 2 days and got different preparations of same items. One took about an hour and they dont text you back to tell you your order will be a while. I get the staff tries to be invisible, - but if they are charging Four Season rates, in middle of nowhere WI - they need to up their service and communication game. It would have been better if some staff sent a text asking if we needed a refresh on snacks, towels or informing of us what to do with our garbage. (I walked it to their main lodge dumpster.) It would have been nice to know ahead of time that their full kitchen wasn't fully operational. Their pond is nice, but in a few years it will be completely seaweeded over and nothing you will want to swim in. Cabin was awesome. Grounds are nice and have some good trails. Ok chain of lakes 25 minutes away that can rent a pontoon boat on and go for lunch. Their kayak was nice around their pond, but really about an hour of something to do. So very low key, quiet getaway. Bring your books, bikes or maybe snowshoes. Cable tv, a/c - again cabin was great, ground very nice. Would go back, after they return to normal operations. Peaceful, Beautiful Getaway
Sep 9th, 2020
We spent two nights in the King Premier Lakefront in Escape Village. The cabin was gorgeous with a beautiful view of Mallard Lake. It was so incredibly peaceful; exactly what we needed! The trails around the property are easily hiked and the views are gorgeous. The grounds are immaculate and there is an incredible flower/vegetable garden to explore. We chose to have dinner on the resort our first night and we were offered dinner selections to be delivered to our cabin. The staff are accessible via text and I was easily accommodated when I ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir an hour before our dinner delivery. We had New York Strip steaks with an incredible salad and sweet corn with warm bread. Everything was cooked to perfection and was delicious. We couldn't be happier with our stay and we will definitely be back! We are in awe of the work it takes to run this beautiful resort. Thank you for a wonderful stay!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
