This property features an 80,000 square foot spa, considered one of the best in Arizona
A stay here isn't cheap
This all-inclusive health resort and spa provides more than just a vacation, but a retreat. And guests say if you're looking for large helping of rejuvenation with a pinch of transformation, Canyon Ranch is the place to go. The 150-acre property offers a plethora of fitness classes, health programs and wellness consultations on top of various other amenities in-room and out. Much like the mantra of the ranch, rooms help travelers relax with feather beds, Italian linens, pillow menus and sound machines, not to mention impressive views of the mountain and desert from oversized windows. According to some recent guests, however, the most standout aspect is located outdoors. Visitors can hike around the surrounding Sonoran Desert, bike on rural country trails or play a round of golf. And still, other guests say the 80,000-square-foot spa — equipped with a salon, private sunbathing decks and a footwear analysis center — is the real treat. Either way, the on-site sustenance options are included in the room rate and instead of prices on the menu, nutritional values are listed. You can find Canyon Ranch 14 miles northeast of downtown Tucson.

Travel + Leisure

Together with his [Mel Zuckerman’s] wife, at age 50, he founded Canyon Ranch outside of Tucson, Arizona, pioneering a new concept in spas, where healing happened in luxurious surroundings under the supervision of medical professionals—psychologists, nutritionists, etc.

Just about every type of physical activity is possible, from Pilates to guided hiking to Watsu treatments, and the food is plentiful and healthful. Rates include all meals, activities, taxes, and gratuities.

Fodor's Choice

While many guests report feeling renewed after a visit -- especially after spending time in the 80,000-square-foot spa complex -- there is a hefty nightly resort fee and a four-night minimum stay.
