Overview

Excellent drinks and seaside location
Amenities come with high price tags, past guests say
Debuting after an extensive renovation, the Caribe Hilton reopened in 2019 and impressed recent guests with its stellar service. Located just a short distance from the historic Old San Juan, Caribe Hilton sits within 7 miles of the airport and 3 miles of El Morro and Castillo de San Cristóbal. This Hilton property treats guests to a secluded beach, a pool complex and multiple tennis courts. Travelers hoping to elevate their heart rates will also enjoy the fitness center, while those longing for deeper relaxation can unwind with an array of treatments at Zen Spa Océano. The Caribe Hilton presents numerous dining options for guests who have worked up an appetite. Whether visitors find themselves craving steak, Italian or ice cream, the hotel's 10 eateries, bars and coffee shops, are sure to satisfy any hunger pangs. Not to mention, in-room dining is also available. Finally, accommodations include private balconies or terraces, as well as amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi access, flat-screen TVs and minifridges. Still, some guests warn that the hotel often charges a premium for many of its offerings (on top of a $40 nightly resort charge). To save some cash, keep in mind that members of the Hilton Honors rewards program can earn and redeem points by staying here.

Not many hotels can lay claim to their own fort, but Fortín San Gerónimo del Boquerón, which once guarded the entrance to San Juan Bay, is on the grounds of this sprawling resort, one of the largest in Puerto Rico. It has a private beach, a multilevel pool with swim-up bar, a luxurious spa, and one of the best-developed kids' programs on the island.
