Wonderful Resort

Nov 17th, 2019

We just spent three incredible days at this resort. First of all the staff was so accommodating. American Express Travel messed up our reservation and Alyssa White at reception went over and above to make sure things were straightened out and insure our stay went beyond our expectations. The suite was exceptional and the view was spectacular. Everything about the ranch was spectacular and our time there was very enjoyable and relaxing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Above And Beyond: Proposal Weekend

Nov 16th, 2019

About a month ago i reached out to Carmel Valley Ranch to discuss the possibility of proposing to my girlfriend on the property. We had stayed there together once before, and both consider it to be our favorite hotel in California, if not the world. It would be impossible to describe how far above and beyond my expectations CVR went in helping me arrange the perfect proposal. Specifically Alyssa, who from the first time i emailed treated it as if it were her own engagement. We probably exchanged 10 emails and multiple phone calls, and with each correspondence Alyssa was so incredibly helpful. She helped me pick the perfect spot on the grounds (pictured), connected me with an amazing local florist (unskripted design), and took care of all the coordination of getting things set up on the day. Alyssa even texted me to offer to take photos from a hidden spot while i was proposing. Everything went perfectly, my now fiancé loved every aspect of what Alyssa helped to organize. In the end it was Alyssa and her supervisor Ken who took pictures of us while i proposed. Ken even came in to work solely for the occasion, and drove us back to our room after, stopping to let us take pictures in the vineyard. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Alyssa, Ken and the Carmel Valley Ranch for making the occasion as special as possible. If you are looking for the perfect place to get engaged, with the most amazing staff, Carmel Valley Ranch is the place to go. Not to mention the great food, facilities and amazing rooms. We will never forget what they did for us and will be becoming back for years to come. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfortable, spacious, though dated property

Nov 16th, 2019

My wife and I stayed at this property during a recent visit the Monterrey Peninsula area. I should tell you this is a very difficult property to find, with very little signage. Be alert. Once found, and past the main gate, you have a scenic drive through a golf course community to reach a top of the hill location for the hotel portion. These buildings are somewhat dated, though well maintained. We had a comfortable stay, and found this location well located for our day trips in the area. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

There were mice and/or rats in our room!!!

Nov 14th, 2019

After the second night, we noticed that there were huge holes in our dog's food bag and his treats had bite marks in them. Then, we saw mice/rat poop in a drawer where we kept the dog's food. We called to speak to a manager and have someone come evaluate the situation. The maintenance person was certain we had mice/rats coming into our room and was pretty sure he found the spot they were getting in (right around the front door). The manager was not empathetic at all, instead he tried to tell us these types of things can happen given the location of the property. We were celebrating our recent engagement and this was completely disappointing and disgusting to say the least!!! We left the property immediately, and I would advise others to avoid this place as they clearly don't have the correct procedures/standards in place. Additionally, the customer service as a whole was lacking, especially given the price point. I would honestly say this was the WORST experience we've ever had at a hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our 2nd stop en route to LA

Nov 11th, 2019

An American style of an upmarket Center Parcs with all the facilities you could ask for. On arrival at the security gates, they check you are on the guest list and the gates open! The Lodge, which is the centre of the resort is a lovely wooden lodge, huge, friendly and warm which reminded me of Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds in UK. Bustling with families and weekenders it was a nice welcome. We had a Bluff Suite, a short drive from the lodge and a beautiful room overlooking the golf course, trees and surrounds. Well appointed, comfy bed, fully stocked bathroom and shower. We were here for 2 nights, which I think is enough, unless you are exploring the surrounds and it makes for a good base. Food and drink quite expensive, but again good quality, and well presented. We used the Fitness Studio and pool called the Ranch (I think) which was really excellent as they have two pools, one for under 16's and one for over 16's. It's a tick in the box, done, and unlikely to return but a good stop over for a 2 or 3 night stay max. the surrounding scenery is truly spectacular and the grounds and properties immaculately kept.
