Beautiful Place!

Feb 9th, 2020

I love coming back here almost once a year during winter. The place is beautiful! Relaxing and I feel so at home. Driving through the beautiful vineyards was my favorite. We occupied House #12 with 3bds, 3.5baths. Definitely a beautiful, quiet short retreat for my family. I always look forward to coming back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lovely location, great staff

Feb 5th, 2020

Lovely resort with great food on site. It's close to napa and a number of wineries - no issue getting an uber to nearby sites. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Loved our meals at Boonfly (try the donuts) and just reading on the hilltop, taking in the view. Like most resorts, the spa was expensive; however, the services were excellent and the amenities were really well thought out. The reception constantly offered water or a glass of wine. Other reviews raised concerns about the grounds; I can easily believe it was tied to large wedding the night before. Everything was really well kept during our visit. We're already discussing a return trip! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stunning property with ultimate get away vibes

Jan 27th, 2020

Stayed here for a girls weekend and couldn't have been more blown away by the experience. First the amazing property itself stunned us all - from the first look in the lobby, to the restaurant off the lobby with the indoor/outdoor seating and the market; to the adorable cottages we stayed in; to the hilltop area with the pool, hot tub, spa and amazing views of lush hillsides, cows, hot air balloons ... the beauty overwhelmed us. There was something for everyone in our large group to do each day at the property - gym, pool, hot tub, spa, steam room, jogs around the property. The cottages we stayed in had plenty of room to accommodate 5-6 girls each with two large bathrooms, murphy beds, etc. There was enough sitting space inside and out that it never once felt crowded. The olive tree, fences and landscaping around the cottages made it feel like you were in a little nest of luxury with plenty of privacy so you didn't feel like you were disturbing others. The personal hot tubs off the cottage decks were awesome and large enough to fit 5-6 people at a time. Second the service from the staff was beyond anything we could have asked for. We were meant to go to a vineyard one day but ended up staying pool side because the staff made it so incredibly enjoyable and we couldn't get enough of the clean air, views and food. Anything we needed was easy to get. Staff was extremely responsive and kind. Some of us were in robes for the whole day ~ it was the most relaxing experience. The food at each of the restaurants was impressive. The food and beverage manager was super friendly and talked to us about the menu, food prep and more about the property. Each meal we had there was picture worthy and extremely enjoyable. I've been to a lot of resorts but this one really was special and unique. You just felt really taken care of, it felt really private yet plenty of space; everyone you encountered was so very friendly. Jut an overall wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back. Dated retreat

Jan 25th, 2020

I think its the worst experience I had due to below - 1. Arrival - my husband booked a villa which was supposed to be one grade above standard, We got put in a villa which was standard type, worst of all next to the main road. When we asked the check in staff, she told us ‘We got a wedding today so we are fully booked. I told them that had nothing to do with us. The worst was that the staff initially gave us vague answers when we showed them the photos of the room we booked which look different from the one we got allocated. I had to give them pressure and the director of the room still told us the room are the “same’ category but he will move us the next day. 2. Room - very dated furnishings, bed mattress was terrible, uncomfortable bed. Fridge couldn’t be open as door of cupboard open from another direction. We did enjoy the outdoor patio one night after dinner. 3. Yoga class - tried once, yoga teacher made us do a power class, which we found inappropriate given most guests were at different level. But she was very friendly and made the effort nevertheless. 4. Restaurant- the onsite restaurant was good, we did breakfast and lunch. Staff was very efficient and food was great. 5. Activity - we borrowed their bikes and ride around the property. Bike was ok, its free after all. So low expectations on freebies. 6. Concierge - mixed up some details and never quoted some activity pricing over emails. 7. Pool - seems the wedding “wannabes” hang out location, its hip but not quiet. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Past it’s prime, sadly

Jan 25th, 2020

I have fond memories of many prior stays at the Carneros Inn, so it is with reluctance that I write this review but after giving the hotel 2 opportunities to respond to my concerns, and their completely failing to do so, I feel I have no choice. We stayed at the property for 4 nights over New Years. The grounds generally seemed in a state of disrepair with Christmas ornaments strewn on the lawn in front of our room, and I’d echo what the other reviewer mentioned about the hilltop pool looking like a scene out of Woodstock. For three consecutive days there was zero service by the pool - we had to go to the spa for towels or go inside the restaurant to ask for menus or order. On our last morning, I was in the hot tub for less than 5 minutes when someone from maintenance told us we needed to leave because someone had found broken glass in the hot tub and it needed to be drained. Unsurprising to some degree given the lack of service and people bringing glasses, coffee mugs and beer bottles from their room to the pool area. What made this even more frustrating is that not only were my fiancé and I celebrating our anniversary but we were considering Carneros Inn for accommodations for our wedding guests later this year. After checking out I called, spoke with the manager and shared my concerns. He promised to look into it and follow up immediately. Over 3 weeks later and still no word. Then 3 days ago, needing to finally make a decision about wedding accommodations I thought let me give them one last chance (despite my better judgement). I called, asked to speak to the general manager, and because he was unavailable I left a detailed message with the person answering the phone. She assured me she’d pass on the information to him and make sure he returned my call. That still hasn’t happened. So while the quality of service during our stay was not at all what it should’ve been, my greater disappointment and frustrations lies in their unwillingness to respond or address those mistakes. And with that, I feel it’s time for me to move on from Carneros. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
