Wonderful!

Dec 12th, 2020

We traveled to Puerto Vallarta and stayed at Casa Velas in early December amid the COVID-19 mess. Although we certainly had our concerns about traveling at this uncertain time they were all laid to rest once the car pulled through the front gates of the beautiful Casa Velas. First and foremost I want to convey that if you’ve entertained taking a vacation but are worried about your safety and surroundings during the virus outbreak this is absolutely the best place to be. The resort staff were all very conscientious about wearing masks, face shields, and sanitizing all common areas. And other guests were also respectful of mask wearing around others and social distancing. That said, the Casa Velas is a small, boutique resort to begin with and the occupancy was very low. With the exception of seeing one or two other groups at meal time (appropriately seating at a distance) we felt like we had the resort to ourselves. The personal attention is off the charts. We were greeted by name more often than not and always with a smile. Although each and every person we encountered was a pleasure there are certainly some stand outs. When we first arrived and settled in we took a stroll around the property. Benny was quick to greet us and offer a cocktail. One of the best dirty martinis I have had, by the way. From that first encounter he was a shining light every time we crossed paths. Always present with a warm salutation and an offer to get us anything we needed. And every morning for breakfast we were met with a wonderful welcome by Jesus. Both he and Oscar provided exceptional service and were always so upbeat and pleasant. Before our arrival we had anticipated having room service for breakfast but after spending a morning with Jesus and Oscar we looked forward to going to Emiliano’s so we could enjoy their company. Armando also went out of his way to make us feel special. Always with a smile (we could see it even though he was wearing a mask) and an offer to help any way he could. Last, but not least, the entire front office staff was quick to jump up any time we entered the lobby and provide assistance. Words just don’t seem enough to express our gratitude to all of those we shared time with during our stay at Casa Velas. Our hearts were very full when it was time to come home. Our room was comfortable and spacious and the property is stunningly beautiful. But it’s the people that left a last impression with us. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you Casa Velas for providing us with a beautiful experience. George (Jorge) and Joan TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our Last Vacation before the world changing Covid 19!

May 18th, 2020

Feb 29-March 5, 2020 Casa Velas Puerto Vallarta Our last vacation before everything changed. We thankfully spent it at Casa Velas, my favorite adults-only, boutique resort. Once you enter thru the scrolled iron gates and go up the long driveway and are greeted by the bellmen and concierges and invited into the serene A/C lobby with couches, candles, water ponds/ pools on the ground, all stress leaves and for us, we are in our tranquil place. Check-in is the easiest and most welcoming around in PV. You are given wonderfully scented cloths to refresh along with a drink of your choice or a lovely hibiscus drink while you relax on comfy couches. Kelly from the front desk, came over to us, along with my dear friend Luz, to check us in, from our seats. Our beautiful hemp bracelets with silver amulet were applied for our all-inclusive plan. Beautiful accessory. The concierges, Rogelio, Luz and Chief concierge Miguel, welcomed us back and made sure of any requests we had, to make our stay more enjoyable. All is good, we are home. Mind you our ride was very short as previously we were at another of our favorite resorts Velas Vallarta. After a quick check-in we went straight to the pool and our car was parked by valet service and unloaded and luggage put in our room for whenever we were ready. We throughout our stay were able to give a hug and say hello to Geraldine, the manager, a lovely welcoming woman. Fredy waited on us by the pool and as usual, he is his amiable self. The grounds about the resort are stunning, tranquil, an oasis. The pool is large, differing in depths and just stunning. The resort is on par with a small rambling village off a gold course. Beautiful landscaping, flowers, an herb and vegetable garden, foliage, brick walkways, just utter beauty, in this boutique 80 room adults-only hotel/resort. The lobby has an inside A/C area with a TV, and an outside area overlooking Koi ponds under the stars, both with the infamous "Benny" as a bartender or one of the other great bartenders. Nightly in the early evening, they have live music and adult entertainment, like cocktail making demonstrations, tequila tastings, casino night, and such or just socialization or sports on TV. Live music is frequently found in Emiliano restaurant while dining by piano, Sax Player or Mariachis. You can dine at Emiliano restaurant which is tiered in 3 levels, incredible atmosphere and architecture. Also has indoor A/C and or very romantic candlelit outdoor dining by Koi ponds and facing the pool. They also have dining in the daytime by the pool, 24/7 room service and the restaurant at the beach club just minutes away by private A/C shuttle or you also have access to the sister resort Velas Vallarta and everything it has to offer. We stayed in a different style suite this time which was lovely, though The Wellness Suites are my favorite due to larger size and 2 bathrooms and a separate area for a couple that has differing sleep patterns. This style room likely is my second favorite, a Grand Class Plus Suite without the Jacuzzi, as requested as we rarely use the Jacuzzi, and slightly larger room without a jacuzzi. It had a King bed, 2 side tables. The TV on a console with swivel top separating the bedroom from the living room/kitchen area so you could watch TV from both sides. Nice sliders leading to two terraces one with a table and chairs and a private yard with plunge pool. The closet was huge with lots of hanging and draw space, a large safe, umbrellas in the room, Beach bag to use, along with robe and slippers. The bathroom also was very large with a huge shower, dual control head, handheld or rain shower. Large counter space with sink and plenty of space to move about. So thus the room was very good. Daily excellent housekeeping and turn down service at night. A coffeemaker with pods, a mini-refrigerator with sodas, water, beer, juices and such, restocked daily. A snack basket with cookies, chips and other snacks also restocked daily and 24-hour room service, you could ask for nothing more. The Beach Club is amazing, private with pool, bathroom areas, shower, restaurant and service as well as loungers on the beach. The restaurant is Asian inspired and quite yummy. We enjoyed Kao Pad Sapport with julienne veggies rice, cashew curry, raisins and pineapple and shrimp over a pineapple round. Spring rolls stuffed with crab, baby calamari with pickle tartar sauce, Hamburger with caramelized onions and tender bacon and fries. Ramon and Daniel were our waiters and it is just an amazing beach area. We like to walk to the beach club or over to sister Resort Velas Vallarta, ( we had already spent the previous week there so we did not venture back), when we want beach, but we are very content to just be on-site amongst the tranquil little village as I call it. The service throughout the resort is very attentive and friendly but not obtrusive, attention to detail is of utmost importance. We dined every evening at Emiliano Restaurant and had such things as Vallarta Cervices, Peach salad with goat cheese, beets and pistachio, Tomato salad with roasted avocado, tomatillo juice, watercress and scallop slices, Roasted veggies with parmesan slices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, Leek Cream soup with champagne, brie cheese and green oil, Miso soup with shitake mushrooms, Beef meatball with bell pepper, Creamy duck confit wontons with mango chutney & orange., Kani Knai salad Jicama cucumber & carrots with a sweet soy sauce Grilled Octopus, Rack of Lamb, Duck Magret, Braised Short Rib, Burgandy Style snails with toasted peanut bread, Beef Bourguinon, Fine Herb Salmon Red Berry Cheescake, Citrus Creme Crumble Pie with sherbet, Ice cream or sorbet of many flavors, Ginger Crème Brule, Apple tart Tatin with Pecan ice cream ( this is an apple dessert shaped like a rose, great presentation). Each night they have a regular menu and a theme inspired night like French, Italian, Asian etc. The waiters were all good under the direction of Captain Jose. There were quite a few new waiters to us, but Bernadino and Francisco were still there and as usual, provided great service. By the pool, we had such great treats as Guacamole with Mexican salsa, Shrimp Burrito, Onion rings, Chicken salad sandwich with cranberries, walnuts, and lettuce on rye bread, fish tacos, and Apple salad. Lots of different drinks all with top-shelf alcohol. I had been in touch with the chief concierge prior to arrival via email, Miguel and others and response time was very rapid and everything I requested in room and minibar was exactly as I liked. We totally enjoyed our stay and had hoped to return very soon. Shortly after returning home, the world changed with the Corona Virus sigh and we still hope we can get back to Casa Velas quickly when they reopen. This would be a great place for social distancing being a small resort on sprawling grounds. A large restaurant, 24 hours room service, and no children so it is on top of our list for when we can resume vacations. As always the memories of our vacations here have been amazing and I am positive they will be once again. *In my review submission I was unable to submit many of my photos so feel free to send me a PM for how to view more or check out bezerk@survived2travel page on Fb. * TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Three Times and Loving It

Mar 22nd, 2020

This is our third time at Casa Velas. We have enjoyed it each time and only seems to get better. From the moment you arrive you are treated like family and given the utmost treatment . The staff from reception to bar staff, to restaurant, spa, room service, housekeeping, laundry and even the maintenance staff are all so much appreciated. All are exemplary at their jobs and still manage to treat you like loving family. I assure you we will be back again and again. This is truly our "second" home. Thank you so much for ll you guys do and how you do it especially in these crazy times. Geraldine .. you are a delightful person and should be so proud of your staff. Paradise found

Mar 21st, 2020

We were thrilled to visit Puerto Vallarta for the first time and wanted a memorable experience. Casa Velas offered this to us, this was by far the best resort we’ve experienced. From beginning to end we were treated like family. Our suite, the grounds, spa, staff, the entire resort including the Beach Club were superb. There were no negatives. The restaurant Emilio was fantastic, serving fresh, wonderful food daily. Breakfast was a fabulous buffet but one can also order a la carte. Coffee/cappuccino, juices, mimosa. Fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, anyway you like them, bacon, plus so much more. Whatever your heart desires. Lunch and dinner are a la carte with special menus each night for dinner. Smaller sized portions and presentation was pleasing to the eye and was delicious. The Beach Club was fantastic, possibly even better food or was I hungrier from the swimming 😜 The staff at Emilio cannot do enough for you. They are professional, friendly and fun and we truly became like family. Special mention to Bernardino and Bryan who looked after us so well. Bryan even did up a special lunch for our travel home which was delicious The Beach Club staff were also outstanding special mention to Jorge and Luis. Many lazy afternoons on the beach and a few yummy lunches enjoyed there. We also enjoyed a memorable sunset dinner there which we’ll remember forever Freddie and Mayra at the pool bar greeted us daily with wonderful cooling drinks and willingly helped us with learning our Spanish. Freddie made the best margaritas ever. Gracias amigo. Bennie at the Lobby bar kept us very happy indeed. Always a full genuine smile and also an amazing coconut margarita 😋 Miguel and the girls in the lobby at reception always there and forever helpful. Miguel even offering to drive us to the airport if our ride didn’t show up. Everyone was incredible, we cannot say enough about the staff at Casa Velas This resort is tranquil and one cannot help but relax , the spa is a must to experience. We pray our new found friends will survive this horrific time we are currently experiencing, this virus is taking it’s toll on everyone. We definitely are looking forward to seeing you all again soon. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
