Half term break

Oct 27th, 2019

First thing I’d like to say is the hotel is very good, we arrived very late and were greeted by a lovely member of reception who showed us to our room where they had left us food and water which was an absolute god send. A few days in we had a minor problem which became a bit of a farce which was met by complete indifference to the ladies on reception - a little while later the manager was highly efficient and everything was sorted out and we’d like to thank you for that. As previously said the breakfast needs attending too watered down juice and minimum choice tbh cereals etc need to be looked at and adjusted accordingly - we fully appreciated it was their last week and everything was being wound down and they must have all been exhausted. Bar staff absolutely lovely as are the managers but ladies on reception not so much. Overall we loved Sisi and would hope to return in the future - thank you to the staff who went over and beyond and we hope you enjoy your well deserved break TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best hotel in Sissi

Oct 25th, 2019

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, in Greece. The best two have been in Crete. It’s unfortunate reading other reviews that we tend to agree about the quality of the towels, but honestly, they were very clean, and the bathrooms were very good quality and clean, with quality his and her bath robes and Korres toiletries. The hotel has good ambience. All of the hotel was spotlessly clean and fresh. Our room was very spacious and modern, good spec with good wardrobe space and a big comfy bed. Every meal we had in the ala carte restaurant was excellent, as were the lunches at the bar. The staff were warm and friendly. The breakfast was also very good quality with a garden egg chief making whatever we wanted. As I noted in another review, it was a shame one day the fruit juice machine was playing up and not mixing the orange properly, but this was a one morning one off. Every other day was good. So overall we would say this is definitely a five star hotel for Greece, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Sissi. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Fabulous !

Oct 24th, 2019

We stayed for 10 nights half board and were upgraded to a room overlooking the pool. Room was lovely and clean. Plenty of choice for breakfast & dinner. The hotel staff are what stood out to me the most. They honestly could not do enough for you and made you feel as if you were the only guest remembering names etc. Stavros , Mike, Eleni are the only names I can remember but all fabulous. It is a fairly quiet hotel with low key entertainment on just a few nights which suited us fine. One night there was a themed romantic night where there was a classical singer whilst you ate dinner with a Rose for ladies. Nice touch. Plenty of sun beds around the pool and we never struggled to find a free one. We never tried the spa so can’t comment on this but maybe next time. Hotel is next to a church so yes on a Sunday you will hear the bells but this didn’t really bother us. The Harbour is about a ten minute walk with a variety of bars and restaurants, we found there was enough for us but might be too quiet for younger guests. Think there is only one local bus a day that passes through that can take you to other towns, the bus stop is opposite the hotel so make sure you don’t miss it coming back. You must try the happy train which will take you on a tour around the local area and into a village in the mountains for lunch. You can obtain tickets from the hotel reception. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend for a relaxing break. We will definitely return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

YES and NO

Oct 23rd, 2019

So, we were really looking forward to trying this new destination for us in Crete - A simple 30 minute drive from Heraklion airport and in a peaceful Port away from the bustle of Malia. On arrival at the contemporary styled hotel we were greeted as befitting a 'Small Luxury Hotel of the World' to whom they are affiliated - Welcome refreshing drink in a comfortable bar whilst luggage was collected from our car and taken to our room, and delighted to hear that we had been given an upgrade from Junior Suite to one with a private pool (Eleni at reception was lovely). Another bonus for the peace we were looking for is that the hotel is for adults, so no school holiday children around and the pool area was pleasant, even if the sun loungers were a little worn in places (paint peeling off arms and the odd rip here and there) - That completes the YES part of the review. Now for the NO - The buffet Breakfast finishes at 10.00 and on our first morning we arrived at c9.30 to find that hardly any food was left and nothing fresh had been refilled - There is a plethora of food on offer if you arrive early but highly uninspiring, unless you have a penchant for tinned fruit and vegetables amongst any of the other food offerings which were more akin to 3-star quality than the 5-star as stated by the hotel (And believe me, we stay in many 5-star hotels around Europe in each year, so are comparing the breakfast to them) - No Sparkling Water available and watered-down Fruit Juice collection. The tables and chairs that were left to choose from had not been cleared properly and I had to change my seat which had hairs and crumbs on it - Then the crowning glory came when at 10.10 as we were just relaxing and finishing our drinks, the restaurant Manager appeared, to advise us that we ought to leave since he had to set up for Dinner (starting in a mere 8 hours time!). That was the final straw, so an immediate visit was made to the hotel Manager (via Reception) to relay our findings - Notes were taken (whilst we were reminded that we had been selected for an upgraded room - More about that shortly) and action also taken which resulted in an improved offering the next day BUT the root of the problem is that there is too much range on offer and this makes things difficult to manage and control, meaning that the staff are under stress instead of being able to greet and look after their guests. Now to the room! The 'Upgraded' room was more to suit the hotel than ourselves - We could not use the private pool since there was no sun whatsoever on this side of the hotel, the water was not warm, and the terrace did not have space for sun loungers, only for a couple of chairs and small table, so the Junior Suite we had already booked may have been warmer. There appears to be a problem with sun reaching terraces in many rooms in this hotel owing to the design of the building, so this could be worth querying. Not only that, but the large bedroom is located up a flight of stairs whilst the bathroom is located downstairs (not ideal in the middle of the night if needed) - We've never experienced a shower with no lighting in it, so this was a first! I am also enclosing some photos of the 5-star room of areas that are not acceptable for this expected standard of hotel. All of these observations were presented to the hotel Manager, and although he appeared to be concerned, he never even once approached us later to ask if things had improved, nor did the restaurant Manager apologise for requesting us to vacate the area a mere 10 minutes after the buffet was closed - Please draw your own conclusions! Friendly relaxing hotel

Oct 21st, 2019

We arrived late Saturday evening, the hotel had left a complimentary supper in our room, a welcome surprise after a long day. The staff throughout the hotel could not have been more helpful or accomodating, they are a credit to the establishment. As we were leaving early evening on the day of our departure, we requested a late checkout, unfortunately our room was required but the hotel was able to provide a shower and changing facilities to use following a day by the pool.
