Health Hazard staying here

Jan 17th, 2020

This place is a health hazard. Don’t stay here if you have any worry about bed bugs I planned a week long trip after graduating college and my experience was absolutely devastating. Imagine waking up every morning finding an increasing amount of bites all over your face, neck, arms, and legs. It causes a lot of anxiety worrying about bringing home bed bugs, allergic reactions, getting my bites infected, and a manager who DENIED that they existed. He reassured us their exterminator and another pest company checked the room and that nothing was found. I’ve attached pictures of proof of bed bugs, with blood stains on the bed and even the husk of a bed bug. They bite in straight lines along veins and can take a few days for bite marks to appear. The manager insisted that it was sand fleas that bit us. I live in Southern California near the beaches and I’ve seen sand fleas. I’ve also graduated with a B.S. from UCLA, and have taken courses on evolutionary and animal biology and can identify what they look like. The bites also do not follow veins like that in a straight line and it doesn’t explain the BLOOD STAINS or DEAD BED BUG on our bed. Please, stay at any other resort for your trip to Kauai. It wasn’t worth the stress of dealing with this situation and it ruined my vacation for me. Every part of my body is covered in lines of bed bug bites and it feels really disgusting stepping out onto the beach like that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Best for families

Jan 16th, 2020

I am really giving Kiahuna Plantation 4.5 stars out of 5. The pros - excellent location, excellent value, beautiful grounds, gardens, easy walk to beach, pool, restaurants and shopping. The only con is the that the units are a bit small and some need some updating. Kiahuna is great for families. The easy walk to beach and the manicured lawns throughout the complex where kids can play is a big plus. Kiahuna is the only beachfront condo complex in Poipu, other complexes in Poipu have a much longer walk to the beach. The section of beach is also very nice and less crowded than Poipu Beach Park. Everyone gathers on the lawn at the edge of the beach for the nightly sunsets which are spectacular. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Ok if you like condo rental atmosphere

Jan 13th, 2020

Disappointed in location and looks.I was expecting a very nice ,lush property, and we got an upstairs condo.wasnt expecting not having rooms cleaned unless we payed a daily fee or the daily cleanup. Then at the end had to pay over 200.00 cleaning fee.It had a full kitchen, but as we do on any vacation we ate out always. And worse, the pool was across the street, shared by another property TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Huge Disappointment

Jan 10th, 2020

First off, we are still on property as this is our fourth out of 8th day. I will take some blame for believing the photos posted for this unit:( and will say that the grounds are so well manicured. Many staff members meticulously taking care of property daily. Also, a short walk of approximately 300 yrds puts you on a spectacular common use beach area. Unfortunately the unit is dated, musty smelling and lacking basic items such as any cleaning supplies. I did call front desk to ask for some supplies so as to tidy up and they informed me they don’t supply. Also, should have read fine print as there is no in room washer/dryer. There is an on-site laundry building that costs $3.00 per wash, same for dry. You can also have access to the community pay phone😂 Prior to arriving, I did email to inquire if there was an in room hair dryer and was assured yes. Unfortunately it was broken and it took approximately 6hrs for them to replace. Oh dear, this just keeps getting worse... the smell of the sheets was, ummm, really bad. Like bad body oil from previous guest?? Once again called front desk (swear to you this is uncommon for me). All I asked for was clean linens, happy to make bed myself. Oh no. “Sorry, just wash them yourself” This is our first time at Kauai but have many years of visiting Maui staying at several different locations and have never had this problem. Can’t say I would ever return and IF we did it certainly would not be to the Plantation as there is absolutely no concern from management on your experience here. I have also noticed that any negative feedback from guests is answered By management with a “well, this is all your fault attitude” No worries, going to make the best of bad situation!
