Wonderful boutique hotel in Queenstown

May 13th, 2019

Very much enjoyed my stay at Central Ridge! The property was tastefully decorated with large rooms, comfortable chairs to put feet up and a desk. They provided coffee and even brought up fresh milk if requested to put in the fridge. I stayed for 2 nights and they let me store my luggage for a night while I went to Milford Sound and then when I returned for my 3rd night they had put my bags in my new room with fantastic views of Queenstown. The staff were all very nice. Wifi was strong. There is a walking path from the center of town to the hotel which is lit at night and only about 2 minutes away. Would definitely return here again! Little old hotel. Close to Queenstown centre - 5 min. Walk. They will help you arrange trips if you like. Had a large room with good beds. View too the lifts up the mountain. The wifi was allright. There are no elevator. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

On the Ridge in Queenstown

Apr 11th, 2019

Central Ridge was the perfect launching point to explore Queenstown. It’s located 1 block from the bus stop. The bus ride from the airport was about 20 minutes, the driver was very helpful in assisting us with navigating the public bus in Queenstown. Just a short walk down a hill to the Central business district (which means the return trip is up hill). The staff at Central Ridge was very helpful, assisted with our luggage and offered tips on attractions in Queenstown. The room was spacious, beds comfy, very clean with a very inviting oversized bath tub. The tub requires a big step to enter for showers. The furnishings were average, but functional. Breakfast was included, the menu is limited but I found the omelets and traditional American breakfast to be quite good. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, great common areas, would definitely stay again on future trips. The surrounding area was very quiet. Within the hotel, we could hear our neighbors, but it was not intrusive. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Second Visit - Good location and competitive pricing for Queenstown

Apr 10th, 2019

Stayed at the Central Ridge again for one night having previously stayed for a night in 2013. Last time I rated the hotel as excellent. My feel now is that it is in the very good category. The positives are: - the location is very good, you don't have lake views but I think most rooms have an aspect out and it is it is a relatively easy 10 to 15 minute walk into the centre of town (there is a bit of a slope to negotiate but not too steep, although it would be a challenge for anyone without good mobility); - the rooms seem to be a good size (this time I had Room M4 which was spacious with a comfortable King Size Bed); - there is a good sized room safe; - there is free WiFi which worked well; - you are given fresh milk for tea and coffee; - on this occasion I booked through Qantas and paid $258.22 Australian - this was an advance booking rate and didn't include breakfast. Given that Queenstown is an expensive location I thought the price represented very good value for money; - there is some limited free off-street parking. Less positives: - the decor felt a little tired and I was not a fan of the fact that the inside of the double glass doors that look out to the mountain across the town have been covered with some mirrored finish on the inside; - the furnishings are perhaps a little dated but ok; - the shower is an over the bath arrangement and so presents a challenge for people with mobility issues (there may be other bathroom configuration, best check).
