Chablé Resort and Spa

Past visitors used words like "perfection," "unique," and "magical" to describe this wellness retreat on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, which sits a little less than 30 miles southwest of Mérida. Many referred to Chablé Resort & Spa as an experience rather than a hotel thanks to the outstanding staff and luxurious amenities, the standout being the spa. Built alongside a cenote, or a natural sinkhole formed when limestone collapses, the spa offers three "journeys" that incorporate traditional rituals and advanced therapeutic methods inspired by the Mayans, who considered cenotes to be sacred. Other facilities within the spa's 32,000-square-foot space include a fitness center, an outdoor infinity pool, a wellness restaurant and an outdoor deck for yoga and meditation. Though the spa is the star, the resort's three restaurants and accommodations also receive avid praise from past guests. The 38 casitas and two villas are housed within the original 19th-century walls of the hacienda and are outfitted with traditional Mayan architecture and warm woods. Each accommodation is also equipped with a satellite TV, a coffee maker, a double rain shower, and a spacious terrace with a private pool, sunbeds and a hammock.
