We had a wonderful time at the Chaminade. The staff very friendly and always willing to help us and if we needed anything. It was a busy weekend but everyone maintained their distance and wore their mask when in public. If we wanted to go to the beach we were only a short drive away. There is so much to do at the Chaminade and we took full advantage of the activities. We took a beautiful morning hike in the redwoods, played tennis at their beautiful tennis courts, went swimming in the pool, played corn hole and relaxed by the fire pits at night. The View is an amazing restaurant at the Chaminade. The food and drinks are 1st class. And the actual view is breathtaking. We definitely will be going back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Run down, not worth the price
Aug 10th, 2020
For the price (relative to other options in the area), I'd expected beautiful rooms that were well-maintained. Instead, the place feels run down and badly in need of some touch-up paint. They're nowhere near full and, despite having paid for the most expensive room, they stuck us in an ADA unit overlooking a parking lot. This isn't quite shaping up to be the relaxing escape we'd hoped for. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Mini Getaway and Engagement Proposal
Aug 10th, 2020
This review is for the staff at Chaminade Resort and Spa, specifically Krysta (front desk associate). I visited the hotel a few weeks ago for three nights with my girlfriend and daughter for a short getaway in which I also planned to propose. Over the course of the next day my stress and nerves began to rise trying to find the perfect spot and logistics of the proposal. I had many questions of how, when and where. I had called a few days before arrival to get some recommendations on where the best place would be to pop the question. After speaking with Krysta, she completely put me at ease and took care of the entire set up. I cannot stress to you how much of a difference this made in the proposal and our trip. It allowed me to focus on my family and alleviate a great deal of time and worries. On the day of the proposal I snuck away to catch up with her to figure out the details, she told me just be here at 7:30pm and the rest will be taken care of. That was exactly what it was, taken care of. She had managed a private spot for us on the terrace with champagne, strawberries and a charcuterie. My fiancée had no idea what was happening and was completely surprised. I could have not managed a better proposal without Krysta. We are forever grateful for her compassion, professionalism and the everlasting memories she helped create. We cannot wait to visit the resort again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Hotel is very beautiful, clean and well kept grounds. Pool was clean and well kept. Most of the staff were cordial but not overly friendly. Hotel was very quiet. Our room was not ready when we arrived and was not the room we booked. Supervisor was supposed to fix- never happened. Towels had bad odor, lighting in the room was very poor and we had a view of the parking lot. Water was in short supply. We were provided two water bottles in our room for three people and a two day, two night stay. The only availability of water was to walk to the restaurant. It was like pulling teeth to get more water and they wanted to charge us $5 per bottle. Everything was very expensive. $100 charge to roast smores at the fire pit was laughable. $11 for a one ounce gin and tonic. Due to COVID, breakfast was served in styrofoam trays with plastic forks for a $20 per plate breakfast..... Gym attendant was rude and impossible to communicate with. Upon checkout, was not even asked how my stay was. Probably won't be back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Road Trippin' Surf City Syle
Aug 2nd, 2020
Road trips are the rage and what better time than now to load up the truck with the family and surfboards and head north from San Diego to Santa Cruz. We heard a lot of good things about this resort but never had the chance to experience it. Check-in was a breeze and Shane at the front desk was extremely insightful and informative. We didn't spend too much time in the lobby or restaurant area, the recent renovation looks amazing... Our room close to the lawn area and pool was very nicely apportioned and comfortable, but not pretentious. There are only 2 floors to each building, so the rooms are spread out among the large property... I don't recall hearing anyone else while we were in the room. Another pleasant surprise was how much of a family feel this resort has... so much to do, including pool, horseshoes hiking, firepits, tennis, cornhole, and frisbee golf. The hiking trail directly behind the tennis courts was one the best I have even been on... 2 miles of tall trees, running stream and wildlife. My twin daughters recently took up surfing, so we spend a good portion of our time at Pleasant Point... one of the local "hot spots" that was also great for spectators since the surf break is really close to shore. Parking was easy, even on weekends. Heading home, we took Interstate 1 down the coast through Monterey and Big Sur which capped off what was one of the most amazing trips we've ever head. We can't wait to go back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
