Not the greatest

Aug 16th, 2019

I was not too impressed with my experience here. I was told that this hotel used to be the IT hotel back in the day. I honestly would not believe it by how run down it now is. I made my booking directly through the hotel over the phone. I showed up to the hotel with my confirmation and booking, only to be told there was zero record of my reservation. After a long tiring day it was pretty stressful to stand there and deal with that. Luckily they still had some availability and were able to find me a spot. I'd really hate to think what would've happened if that was not the case. The tub and sink were cracked and chipped. The carpet was stained, closet broken, TV broken, room dusty, and hair that was not mine in the tub. The remote and light switches probably haven't been wiped down in months. They were gross and caked with dust! Parking is not included and will run you $20-30 a night. It's bad enough that parking downtown is limited and expensive. You'd think the hotel would cut you a break because you're already paying to stay there. This reason alone made me almost pick a different hotel. To top it off I was charged for parking twice when I was originally quoted free parking under the special I was offered. The person at guest services kept telling me otherwise. Eventually they budged and waved the fee. Fire alarm went off when I was in the middle of my shower and had to evacuate the building promptly. The lobby was also filled with smoke which I have a sensitivity too. According to past reviews on here it seems like this is a regular occurrence. There were a few really friendly staff and the beds were comfy however, I would opt out of staying here again. I didn't receive any type of "we're sorry for the inconvenience" or whatever. It didn't seem like they were too worried about making their shortcomings up to their guests. There are plenty of other hotels out there who are willing to do what they can to keep their guests business. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I would pass

I really wouldn’t recommend. It feels like an outdated hotel, that may have been lovely in the past, but now feels like a motel trying to be a hotel. On top of everything being outdated, parking is not included so add $21 per day to your bill if you’re driving there, you can hear people from the other rooms, the shower head is built for people under 5’5”- I adjusted it to my height (5’11”) and water went absolutely everywhere off the back shower wall, the bathroom felt very dirty, and the front counter staff aren’t overly friendly. For reference, I was in room 1010. For 2 nights in a very mediocre room, I spent $270- that was the “special price” I got from booking on hotels.com TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Views!!

Aug 8th, 2019

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in a concierge king room on the 20th floor. This is an older hotel but our room was updated, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Shortly after arrival, we had some delicious chocolates delivered to the door which I thought was a nice touch. The first night we visited the concierge lounge for some wine and canapés and also had the continental breakfast there both mornings while enjoying the wonderful view of the river and downtown Edmonton. The hotel is a short walk to the convention centre and other downtown sights. The only complaint was that every time we showered and opened the bathroom door it set off the smoke alarm which was quite startling the first time it happened. Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Centrally located in downtown Edmonton - the wonderful Chateau Lacombe!

Aug 3rd, 2019

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of July 2019. Front desk check-in was excellent - as I was arriving late (10:30 p.m.) the restaurants were closing. But the front desk managed to locate a bowl of soup for me, which was delicious and kept me from starving - thank you so much! Great view of the downtown - could even see the new Rogers Place Arena in the Ice District. Clean, quiet room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth the money

Jul 27th, 2019

Sure it has a great view and location but that’s all it has going for it. Room was damp and musty, beds were hard as a rock, wifi connection was horrible and 7/53 channels worked on tv. Husband found someone scoping out vehicles in the parking lot. Elevator stunk like fish and pee. Server who was working the breakfast buffet was very rude and abrasive personality. Shouting at people to pay their bill (when everyone assumed it was included with stay) and would shout across dining room that half of it was closed off and made a couple move down to a dirty table she still hadn’t cleaned. Front desk asked my husband how our stay was, he told her the truth and got no apology nothing. Definitely won’t be back after this visit. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
